Artist’s description
After almost four years, I finally managed to finish this drawing! Inspired by the video “Why Marvel's MCU Succeeds While Star Wars Stumbles (Discussion)” from E.C. Henry, I tried to reimagine how Lucasfilm could bring Timothy Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy back into Star Wars canon! This poster is a tribute to the trilogy written by Mr. Zahn and, above all, a celebration of both canon and legends continuities. It is also a tribute to many artists whose work I admire. Therefore, I used in my artwork some costume as designed by those artist. Details of the story I imagined while designing the poster:
- A young Ben Solo, with ten years old and about to begin his training with uncle Luke could be the pivotal point in this battle between the remnants of the old Galactic Empire and the New Republic.
- Along with the protagonists of the Original Trilogy, we could have Ahsoka Tano and Hera Syndulla, characters from Star Wars Rebels who have a close history with the villain.
- Jacen Syndulla, son of Hera and Kanan Jarrus, could be present in the story as a friend of Ben. Both being son of generals and force-sensitives, these friendship would serve to develop Ben as a character, presenting his dreams, desires, fears, and mirroring his future as Kylo Ren.
- Katana fleet, Grand Admiral Thrawn, Talon Karrde, Mara Jade, and Jorrus C'baoth would all have similar roles to those featured in the legends trilogy. C'baoth, the mad jedi clone, could be after Ben's powers in order to use them to rebuild a twisted version of the Jedi Order.
Side note. The artist used Idris Elba as Talon Karrde and Léa Seydoux as Mara Jade and Jacob Tremblay and Vanessa Marshall as Jacen and Hera Syndulla

Honestly, there’s much of the Star Wars EU that is no loss to the Star Wars canon, but I will forever defend Timothy Zahn’s Thrawn trilogy. The reasons for this are numerous, but mainly (1) MARA JADE and (2) Han is canonically referred to as “the consort of the Lady Vader”.
I mean, and they’re well-written and continue the story in a believable way while also fleshing out the Star Wars universe.
But mainly those first two reasons, tbh.

so I just finished reading the Thrawn Trilogy and had to do a thing because wow Grand Admiral Thrawn was really great
I really appreciated how he was basically the exact opposite of Vader, yet made an incredibly badass antagonist and by the end I just wanted to see him continue throwing his military prowess against the New Republic and treating his subordinates with reasonable working conditions and holding Art Appreciation Thursdays

The Thrawn Trilogy takes place before The Force Awakens and no one can convince me otherwise
If Disney REALLY wants do good for Star Wars I suggest this.
- Remake Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic 1 & 2 for the Next Gen consoles with updated graphics, gameplay that is a mix of Mass Effect and Dragon Age but still has the KOTOR feel to it, keep the same voice actors for the main characters, hell even get a voice for Revan, when doing KOTOR 2, give us the finished KOTOR 2 that Obsidian had planned and when both of them are done give the fans what we want and give us KOTOR 3 and drop that Old Republic garbage. We didn't want a MMORPG, sure maybe we did but NOT when it's about Revan;s story and not having nameless Jedi bringing The True Sith down, we wanted to continue and finish Revan's story. Giving us KOTOR 3 does not mean you cannot still have The Old Republic just keep the Old Republic going while we find closure in ending Revan's true story.
- Make an announcement saying that The Thrawn Trilogy is canon and episodes 9-11 will takes place after The Thrawn Trilogy. It's not that hard or changes anything that you have planned all it does is add to your story, you are not cheating the fans by not giving us Thrawn but saying that The Thrawn Trilogy is canon will be enough.
- Rerelease the original trilogy in theaters with all the Special Edition changes removed and give us how they once were and always meant to be. No one asked for all the added CGI crap in Mos Eisley, no one wanted Jabba's menace to be ruined by putting him in Episode IV(seriously that seriously ruins his menace, he is a crime lord and uses fucking bounty hunters to do his bidding, he does not need to go in person only to get a no and get his tail stepped on) we didn't ask for Boba Fett's voice to be changed, we didn't want the dialogue to be changed, we did not ask for a scene where Naboo and Coruscant were celebrating The Emperor's death only to show that it meant showing that The Rebellion's sacrifice meant nothing(what I mean by this is Coruscant looks largely unchanged at all from what we saw in the prequels) no one asked for a unneeded and pointless added dance scene in Jabba's palace, no one asked for constantly changing Obi-Wan Kenobi's screech in A New Hope, no one wanted Darth Vader saying no in Return Of The Jedi. Vader is having conflict of either letting Palpatine kill Luke or kill his master. when there is no reason not to.there is no need for him to Vader killing The Emperor is meant to be unsuspecting, we can feel his internal conflict without any words, now Lucas feels the need to create the equivalent of emotional cue cards to patronize his audience. And last but not least, no one asked for an unneeded Greedo shooting first. Lucas wanted Han to be a good role model so he editied out but that was pointless because at that point already Han was still a smuggler out for himself. Lucas wanted kids to think he was a hero Except he’s SUPPOSED to be a cold blooded killer in the beginning. That was the whole POINT of his story arc. A selfish smuggler who is COMPLETELY fine with letting other people die if it meant his own survival and goes through an internal and external journey to not only give a damn about his fellow person but also grow as an individual to be a hero that is willing to risk his own safety for a much larger cause than himself. Him shooting last takes away the beginning part of a GREAT story arc and reduces it to “This bad ass is a bad ass. The end.”. Killer to hero is a much more interesting story than bad ass to still being a bad ass.
- When doing the Han Solo and Boba Fett spin off movies, adapt the Han Solo book trilogy and for Boba Fett either do something completely new that has Boba Fett being the badass Bounty Hunter that he is and not doing an origin movie, do for Boba Fett what 1313 was going to do for him before you pointlessly cancelled it or adapt the Bounty Hunter Wars
- And for the new movies. Do not do what Lucas did for the prequels, do not have the films be in nothing but bluescreened and make it sterile and lifeless, actually have true moments, actually have characters and not cardboard cut outs and have a plot and have a protagonist and a clear cut antagonist. Make Star Wars feel like Star Wars again.
I don't want to live in a world where Jar Jar Binks and the Star Wars Holiday Special are canon and Jango and Boba Fett are not Mandalorians but The Thrawn Trilogy and Knights Of The Old Republic are not canon.
