Learning about Elliot Page is honestly so important, and means a lot to me.

As someone who wasn't able to come out as a teenager.

As an actor who feels he's never seen a big star who is transmasc, and thought he never would. Who felt he is less trans for taking "women's" roles, despite not being out. Who thought he would ruin his career and everything if he came out.

And here, one of my favorite actors in ny favorite show, the lead of the series, who fought for so much rep in the show already, who has been a major queer figure for me already, is also trans. Like me.

I know it's not about me at all, but. I feel safer to come out. Safer than I've ever felt in my entire life.

im so happy that elliot page came out, i’ve never known a celebrity who uses the same pronouns as me (he/they), and even better that it’s someone i think is awesome 🥺 it means so much to me that someone with so much visibility is being open about having the same identity as me (trans + nonbinary) as well as the same pronouns, because all the (very few) nonbinary celebrities i know either use they/them or use any pronouns, but for me getting to see “he is nonbinary” written in mainstream articles is so amazing, because i struggle a lot to explain to people that i’m genderqueer and prefer he/him pronouns but that doesn’t make me a man.

it must take so much bravery to come out with so many people watching, it’s hard enough to come out to just the people in your life, i’m so awestruck, and i’m also so thankful because i can’t even imagine how much better my life would have been if i had heard about a nonbinary celebrity when i was a kid, and now that can be a reality for others.

shoutout to wikipedia for changing his name and pronouns FAST and for the news headlines being (surprisingly) respectful!

Elliot Page continues to be an icon to queer youth I am so proud of him and all he has done for representation

To cis lesbian who said ‘we lost one’ when Elliot Page came out as transgender with he/they pronouns, fuck off. Gender identity and sexuality is a long and bumpy road and if your first reaction to someone being comfortable in their own skin is ‘oh now I can’t relate to them so I will be transphobic’, you are the problem. If Elliot Page uses he/they pronouns, then Elliot Page uses he/they pronouns.

If you have got a problem with that then you can fuck right off to space and die there.
