Thank god they casted a Jewish actor for Ben, considering Marvel's track record with Jewish representation, I was sure he would've been whitewashed.(still not over the Wanda atrocity)
Here's hoping for an actual Romani actor for once for Doom.
My choice would be Romani actor Charlie Clapman and the man himself endorses it
And if Mole Man is the first villain, my choice is nonother than Mark Hamill

and bc of that johnny storm will love peter parker forever and always
Okay but antisemitism is so clear in fandom discussions of race, because of what people ignore. Like here are some things that no one ever mentions:
- The white-washing of the Maximoff twins in AOU, and subsequently in 616 to match
- Captain America is a eugenics narrative, and perpetuates the idea that “the Peak of Human Perfection” is blonde haired, blue eyed. In other words, the Aryan race is the peak of human perfection
- HYDRA=Nazis. Saying “hail hydra” is not a funny meme, it’s approving of Nazism.
- Andrew Garfield has stated that his version of Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man movies was Jewish, because he is
- Magneto and Kitty Pryde are both Jewish. In the movies they never address Kitty’s Judaism, effectively white-washing her
- Days of Future Past took a narrative that serves as a holocaust allegory away from the Jewish hero (Kitty) who helms it in the comics
- The two older Fantastic Four movies white-washed Ben Grimm
- Ben Grimm is LITERALLY A GOLEM, a character from Jewish folklore
- The comics industry was started by Jewish artists, who couldn’t find any other work because they were Jewish.
- Clark Kent was originally heavily coded as Jewish, but that couldn’t be stated outright if they wanted the comic to continue to be published. His narrative as an immigrant outsider was also a representation of the Jewish narrative, a people moved from place to place, always being outsiders
- In addition to being a lesbian, Kate Kane (Batwoman) is Jewish
- Gal Godot is Israeli, yet is almost always left out of discussions of representation
- Arrow has more than one non-white character; Felicity is Jewish
- Similarly, Buffy does have a minority character in a major role; Willow is Jewish (she actually speaks about it several times)
- Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner are both Jewish, which means that the original series of Star Trek had even more representation than people give it credit for
- The persecution of the Muggleborns in Harry Potter is specifically a holocaust allegory. Muggleborns are stand-ins for Jews, and that’s not right.
- Death Eaters are Nazis. Snape is a Nazi.
I mean, this is just from fandoms that I spend a lot of time in and I’m missing a lot, but you get the point.
I have a massive problem with Death Eaters being called Nazis.
First off, why are you only mentioning Snape? Why not fandom darling Narcissa or Draco, or even the leader, Voldemort? Just curious that’s all.
Snape is not a fucking nazi, that is absolutely abhorrent and disgusting. the Nazis are not the only group of people to persecute someone based on looks, race, religion, etc. Not everyone who are anti Semitic are Nazis (hence why there are so many misconceptions about what an ignorant person looks like) because antisemitism has existed for 2000+ years, not limited to the Holocaust.
there are POC death eaters, and are we really going to call them nazis? that sounds pretty offensive to me.
There is no fictional equivalent of the Holocaust or Nazism because no amount of fiction will ever capture the sheer evil and terror of the Holocaust
I disagree.
I see room for an argument that automatically calling the evil guys/henchmen “nazis” is something that trivializes antisemitism and the very real horror of the holocaust–because that’s something that I do see very frequently in a way that frustrates me.
However, I don’t think that you’re wrong to equate Voldemort and the Death Eaters as a parallel to Hitler and the Nazis. I am quite sure that that’s actually what Rowling was doing through metaphor. No, it’s not the perfect parallel–you see her touching upon it again from a different angle Grindlewald and Dumbledore and their youthful explorations (and Nurmengard); they also aren’t the majority governing party but rather an insurrection movement. But the assault on muggles and muggle-borns is one that directly harkens to the holocaust. You see parallels down to the branding–a swastika versus a dark mark; you see it with the concept of one “race” being superior to another; you see it with a direct Hitler/Voldemort parallel wherein they both share the familial background of the people they are assaulting, the list goes on.
Are death eaters literal nazis? No. Are their actions nazi-esque? Yes, down to the “I was just doing as I was told/I didn’t know what was actually happening,” that you see in some of the penseive visions. So maybe they’re more the “neo-nazis that might have been” if you want to look at Grindlewald’s regime as the “nazi” equivalent. But either neo-nazis or death eaters are still inheriting that ideology to the point that saying there’s no influence doesn’t follow.
Re: Snape–It gets further complicated by the fact that Rowling (unintentionally, I think) codes him the way that most villains are coded which is antisemitic coding. But to call him a nazi–yeah. He did for a time participate in the nazi-equivalent movement. He also stopped.
