Not gonna lie. This would've made the game all the more better
So I had an idea. What if Calliope was brought back to life? What if Calliope is responsible for the rebuilding and healing of Greece?
But with a twist. Athena and the surviving Greek Gods have corrupted her.
Athena has become the overarching villain in the franchise. She probably learned of Zeus's corruption after her sacrifice and so helped Kratos kill him. I think she's intentionally using Kratos to eradicate the Gods in each pantheon
Athena shows her what her father has done to her and her mother and all of Greece.
Calliope trained by Apollo and Artemis. Wielding the Blades Of Exile, Blade Of Olympus and the rest of Kratos abandoned weaponry and all of the magic Kratos once wielded is tasked in killing her father.
But ideally it would end with Kratos and Atreus getting through to Calliope and Kratos and his children standing together and finally vanquishing Athena once and for all.
I think if I had any issues with GOW:Ragnarok is 5 things.
I hope Kratos keeps Atreus away from horses

A little sketch of older Atreus and Calliope! I felt bad about not working on much art for my GoW fic, so I thought I’d do another pose study with these two XDD Atreus gets two new braids and Laufey’s yellow tunic because I lack imagination for GoW-level designs loll
A little update on the fic: I feel like I’m slowly reaching that burnout stage since I haven’t been writing as much as I used to in a sitting. I’m not about to take a break though, because what usually happens is I lose my writing streak and leave the fic on the shelf for a long time, and it’s hard for me to get back into it. So I’ll just keep writing what I can!
I think it’s also because I’ve reached the part where Calliope goes to Ironwood, and this means I have to stop procrastinating and actually develop the entire Giant community now! I’m working on a list of Giants who could still be around in-game (I’m taking them from the myths), so wish me luck loll ^^;;

I wanted to draw more of Atreus and Calliope for my God of War AU, and I thought, why not experiment with the Greek vase style? XDD All in all, it was a very fun challenge!
Story-wise, I wasn’t quite sure at first where this would appear in their adventure … But now I’m thinking it’s when they return to Greece, sometime after Atreus gets Calliope out of the Underworld. Hence the sad looks on their faces – Calliope has bittersweet memories of her homeland, and she’s formed a bond with Atreus at this point, so she sticks close to him.
About character design, I adjusted Calliope’s clothing to look more like a chiton, while keeping the spirit of her original look. Atreus’ clothing is a loose mix of his game design and Greek clothing, but his red sash is from Kratos! I have a whole headcanon about this loll Here it is:
So the red cloth Kratos wore in the old games was used to wrap the Blades of Chaos in the 2018 game, but since the Blades are now displayed openly in Ragnarok, Atreus gets to wear the red cloth – which he does in his Ragnarok model! It’s hidden under that leather waist-wrap thing, but you can see the tail-end of the sash, and the yellow pattern along the hem. I just love that detail so much, it’s so sweet! XDDD
