When we think about our personal journeys with Équipe de France there are a few dates that stand out: the 1998 World Cup final, when our hearts were broken by a team we never imagined we would one day call our own; the 2014 World Cup opening match, when we sat down to watch hoping they would lose and ended up falling in love with them; the meaningless games in 2015 that were such a struggle to watch but we looked forward to and got excited for anyway; the whole month of June 2016, watching so many people see in them what we saw before; the Euro 2016 final, when our hearts were broken once again, but this time we cried with them and not because of them; three weeks ago, July 15 2018, a day that will be forever etched in our memories, a day that still seems like a dream most of the time. And there is, of course, August 4 2014, the day we decided to create this blog and share our newfound love for Les Bleus with all of you. And today, exactly 4 years after we hit "reblog" on that first post, it is time to say goodbye.
These four years of following Les Bleus here with you have been such an amazing journey, full of off the pitch drama, heartbreaking defeats and glorious, unforgettable victories, and we feel there is no better way to open the door for a new group of fans carry on the torch than while we still celebrate our Bleus being World Champions!
We will of course, continue following our Bleus on our own personal blogs - @itsaporcupine @onceuponalany @mrhugolloris, in our own time. Feel free to join us there.
Thank you and Allez les Bleus!
