When she was younger Isa would just hang on her father's arm or shoulder as he went about his day. He always made a concious decision to avoid getting hurt or in any inconvenient situations whenever it happened (with varying amiunt of success)
Mirabel used to go missing a lot as a kid, starting even before her gift ceremony. She just likes to be in weird places (which is why she's always on the rooftop, walking or chilling) and the only people who actively knew where she was was Dolores (she hears everything) and Bruno, who thought it was hilarious when Juli and Gus would run around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to find Mirabel
No one in the family (barring Dolores and Abuela) can whisper. And im not talking one or two people right next to them overhear bad, no. Im talking Camilo tries to tell Antonio a joke in the kitchen and Isabela can hear it in her room, bad
Madrigal wake up order!
Mirabel -> Mira typically wakes up either at dawn or a little bit later. She wants to feel useful despite her lack of a gift, and the best way for her to do that is to wake up early and do all the extra stuff (ie, setting the table for breakfast, waking up the people who need to be up, etc etc). After the movie she still wakes up early, but more out of habit than anything
Julieta -> Typically Julieta will wake up on her own, though there is the occasional day where she tires herself out and oversleeps. She's an early riser because she both has to cook food for the town and breakfast for the family. Post movie she gives herself 2 days a week to just sleep in, in which case she doesn't wake up til after Antonio
Luisa -> She just likes taking the time in the morning to exercise. It's an activity that requires little thought, so she finds its a nice way to just, shut her brain off and stop worrying about stuff for a bit
Abuela -> She's woken up early since she was a teenager. It's simply what she does. She also tries to set an example for the family via her own actions (a failing endevour, no matter how you slice it)
Félix -> I like to think that Felix was the son of a farmer, so he's just gotten used to waking up abnormally early to help with chores
Isabela -> Isa isn't a morning person. If left to her own devices she'd sleep in till dinner. She wakes up early so she doesn't shatter the "perfect" image she has set up. She drinks a shit ton of coffee to hide the fact that she's about 3 seconds from passing out at the table. After the movie ends and all the pressure is lifted she's the only one in the family who sleeps nearly as long as Pepa
Augustin -> Not much to say here. He just seems like the kind of guy to fall at this point in the list
Dolores -> Dolores doesn't get much sleep. Her room blocks out the worst of the noise, yeah, but she can still hear everything in the house. She knows from firsthand experience just how hard it is to fall asleep when Camilo is snoring with all his lung capacity just a room over. Thankfully, she doesn't need much sleep to function through the day.
Antonio -> He's 5 and his animals are very very warm. Enough said
Camilo -> He sleeps like the dead. Shapeshifting takes a lot of energy, so twice the amount of food twice the amount of sleep. He's typically who Mirabel has to wake up in the morning, because otherwise he would sleep until lunch
Bruno - Pepa -> Much like Dolores, they don't get much sleep to begin with. On the rare occasions they do manage to fall asleep theyre very susceptible to night terrors, which also drives them away from sleep. On a typical day they wouldn't be going to sleep until just barely before dawn, sleeping until dinner if allowed
For another question: what time period do you think Encanto takes place in? And P.S. I WOULD like to know Mirabel’s Abuela’s and the husbands reactions to being sick…though it’s completely up to you. It’s your blog, not mine. If you DO feel like doing it, you can do it on your own time. I won’t push it.
Gonna use this to answer the 2nd half! The first part is gonna be a seperate post I'll tag you for. I haven't written it yet (obviously since I just got the question lmao) but it is gonna be sorta long and rambly and most definitely veering off topic a few times. I just have a lot of thoughts
Mirabel and Abuela are much like Luisa and Camilo in which they'll still try to help, but for different reasons. Abuela still tries to help because she doesn't like staying in one place. She feels,,, bad? Wrong? When she stops. When she stops moving and helping her mind goes to when she and Pedro had to flee their home and his death and it forced her to actually acknowledge and face what she's been through and she hates it. Bc like, in my mind she throws herself into the encanto and all the work and trying to manage her family because she doesn't want to acknowledge what happened to her. And the moment she does she's going to break and she knows it. I figure when you're raising 3 kids on your own on top of building and managing a town it doesn't leave a lot of time for grieving.
Mirabel keeps trying to help because she's sorta just internalized the idea that if she's not helping to the best of her ability and more then she's useless. That she's doing something wrong if she's just "lazing around". Abuela did try her best with the family, and she went through a lot of shit, but she still messed her family - especially Mira - up bad. Because of all that, Mira has this idea that since she doesn't have a gift to fall back on or help "normally"? That to make up for that she has to help 24/7, no breaks.
Augustin tries to go about his day normally, but like 3 seconds atter waking up he sneezes and accidently throws himself over the balcony, breaking several bones and is instantly tied to his bed.
Félix doesn't get sick often, and when he is it typically isn't that bad, so he ususally just goes about his day doing the chores and the like. Though he does check out early to relax and rest.
This is like, more boring than the other one, but it was still fun. Maybe I like analyzing the characters of this disney movie just a smidgen too much lmao
Building onto my last ask, how do you think all the madrigals react when they get sick? Also, do you think julieta’s cooking can heal something like the common cold?
I honestly would like to apologize in advance because this is- its really just a mash and mess of ideas? I'm writing this at like 3am and I'm not proofreading so,,, just a warning. English also isn't my,, 1st language so some things'll sound awkward?
Okay so like- first things first Julieta. In my mind her food can only heal like,,, natural injuries? If that makes sense? She can't heal disabilities or stuff you're born with, since there's nothing to "heal" there, but it would take away the pain for some time. And like, if it's serious enough like say,, appendicitis she can't heal that either. I would say she couldn't heal anything inside the body but broken bones are still okay so like?
Essentially no, pretty much. Stuff like flus and colds aren't affected by her cooking, though it would get rid of the worst of the symptoms for a few minutes. Honestly at this point I think i should make a mini?? Thing where I just explain how I think each Madrigal gift works? I have a lot of feelings and thoughts about them so like,, maybe thinking too much of it? I don't know. It's whatever
Anyway, Mira, Abuela, and the husbands aren't included because like- well, i dont have a real reason just,, they weren't included in my last post so they're not included here.
- Julieta - Antonio - Bruno -> They're the like,,, tired type? Like they get sick and they're just so so tired, tired enough that it exhausts them to just get out of bed. They tend to sleep most of it off with like, the occasional time for a small snack or a sip of water
- Pepa - Isa -> Like the- i guess- angry ones?? I dont- I dont know how to explain it but the ones who blame everyone else for getting them sick and they'll like,,, overexaggerate how bad their symptoms are and just bitch through the entire time they're sick
- Dolores - She just kicks back and takes the opportunity to relax for once. She will try to sleep most of it off though, since the sneezing and coughing and blocked nose and stuff like that bothers her more than anything
- Luisa - Camilo -> They don't like being sick and will like, refuse to acknowledge it. They still go out to try to help the town, despite the fact that their powers aren't working probably. It usually results in quite a few injuries (both on townspeople and them) and their family pretty much tying them to their beds to get them to rest
Augustin carries his wife's cooking with him everywhere just in case
Isabela and Augustin can't handle liquor. They're out after what? 2 shots?
Pepa can drink a shitton and not really show any signs of being drunk besides being louder than normal, but if you don't interact with her for 5 seconds she's out cold.
Félix, Dolores, and Bruno can drink almost as much as or a bit more than Pepa, but the difference is that they don't pass the fuck out
Julieta just doesn't drink much, but on the few occasions she does she gets just enough to make her tipsy and nothing else.
Everyone gets an absolute killer hangover in the morning though, as does Camilo, who is only not discovered because both his parents are too hungover to care about him stealing a snack or two
Augustin has willingly taken the fall for every Madrigal kid at least once
Luisa accidently broke Augustin's arm on the night of her gift ceremony. It was fixed right up with Julieta's power, but Luisa still feels guilty about it years later
When Pepa and Julieta started dating Casita was super overprotective. Like, would push and lock out boyfriends constantly.
Felix and Augustin were the only ones it never had any problems with.
Augustin taught all his daughters how to play the piano!
