Alma was definitely the type to tell kids that when the ice cream truck played its tune it was because they were out of ice cream.
No two people in the family have the same music taste. All their music vastly differs and none of them can stand the other's
Do you think that if bruno had been married and had a child before he "left" that Alma would have pushed his spouse out when bruno "Left" or would she have treated his spouse and their child like family despite Bruno?
I think she would've still treated them as family but just,,, distant. Like she still loves both the spouse and the kid, but whenever she looks at them she just sees Bruno and the fact that he isn't there anymore so she just seems both emotionally and physically distant
The triplets all make dead dad jokes. Alma wishes they would just stop
Bruno was the kid who'd scribble all over the walls with crayons. Casita never let Alma get rid of them until he left, though she regrets how empty the walls looked afterwards.
After Casita was rebuilt as a sorta joke Bruno redrew the scribbles. It was the most anyone had seen her cry in years
Rooms! (those we haven’t seen)
Abuela - Simply what you’d expect; a normal bedroom. It has a lot of pictures of her family and a window overlooking the town, so she can see what people need.
Pepa - 100% weatherproof. Snow, rain, hail, fire, heat - everything is magically immune to any weather she can create.
Julieta - lots of bookshelves, with cookbooks but also novels and nonfiction because I just decided Julieta is a huge reader & you can’t stop me. Also comfy chairs because you don’t get a lot of chances to sit while cooking.
Bruno - rat man cave (I imagine when he goes back, Casita can make him a better room that’s cozy and messy like his hideout in the walls but has a space for visions.
Dolores - absolutely soundproof & with a lot of stuff for sensory related issues / activities
Camilo - your average teenage boy’s room, but with a lot of giant mirrors (he covers them with curtains at night) and a whole lot of photos everywhere for him to practice shapeshifting
Luisa - basically a glorified home gym, but post-movie she takes some of the stuff out of her room … she also has a guitar in there
Madrigal wake up order!
Mirabel -> Mira typically wakes up either at dawn or a little bit later. She wants to feel useful despite her lack of a gift, and the best way for her to do that is to wake up early and do all the extra stuff (ie, setting the table for breakfast, waking up the people who need to be up, etc etc). After the movie she still wakes up early, but more out of habit than anything
Julieta -> Typically Julieta will wake up on her own, though there is the occasional day where she tires herself out and oversleeps. She's an early riser because she both has to cook food for the town and breakfast for the family. Post movie she gives herself 2 days a week to just sleep in, in which case she doesn't wake up til after Antonio
Luisa -> She just likes taking the time in the morning to exercise. It's an activity that requires little thought, so she finds its a nice way to just, shut her brain off and stop worrying about stuff for a bit
Abuela -> She's woken up early since she was a teenager. It's simply what she does. She also tries to set an example for the family via her own actions (a failing endevour, no matter how you slice it)
Félix -> I like to think that Felix was the son of a farmer, so he's just gotten used to waking up abnormally early to help with chores
Isabela -> Isa isn't a morning person. If left to her own devices she'd sleep in till dinner. She wakes up early so she doesn't shatter the "perfect" image she has set up. She drinks a shit ton of coffee to hide the fact that she's about 3 seconds from passing out at the table. After the movie ends and all the pressure is lifted she's the only one in the family who sleeps nearly as long as Pepa
Augustin -> Not much to say here. He just seems like the kind of guy to fall at this point in the list
Dolores -> Dolores doesn't get much sleep. Her room blocks out the worst of the noise, yeah, but she can still hear everything in the house. She knows from firsthand experience just how hard it is to fall asleep when Camilo is snoring with all his lung capacity just a room over. Thankfully, she doesn't need much sleep to function through the day.
Antonio -> He's 5 and his animals are very very warm. Enough said
Camilo -> He sleeps like the dead. Shapeshifting takes a lot of energy, so twice the amount of food twice the amount of sleep. He's typically who Mirabel has to wake up in the morning, because otherwise he would sleep until lunch
Bruno - Pepa -> Much like Dolores, they don't get much sleep to begin with. On the rare occasions they do manage to fall asleep theyre very susceptible to night terrors, which also drives them away from sleep. On a typical day they wouldn't be going to sleep until just barely before dawn, sleeping until dinner if allowed
For another question: what time period do you think Encanto takes place in? And P.S. I WOULD like to know Mirabel’s Abuela’s and the husbands reactions to being sick…though it’s completely up to you. It’s your blog, not mine. If you DO feel like doing it, you can do it on your own time. I won’t push it.
Gonna use this to answer the 2nd half! The first part is gonna be a seperate post I'll tag you for. I haven't written it yet (obviously since I just got the question lmao) but it is gonna be sorta long and rambly and most definitely veering off topic a few times. I just have a lot of thoughts
Mirabel and Abuela are much like Luisa and Camilo in which they'll still try to help, but for different reasons. Abuela still tries to help because she doesn't like staying in one place. She feels,,, bad? Wrong? When she stops. When she stops moving and helping her mind goes to when she and Pedro had to flee their home and his death and it forced her to actually acknowledge and face what she's been through and she hates it. Bc like, in my mind she throws herself into the encanto and all the work and trying to manage her family because she doesn't want to acknowledge what happened to her. And the moment she does she's going to break and she knows it. I figure when you're raising 3 kids on your own on top of building and managing a town it doesn't leave a lot of time for grieving.
Mirabel keeps trying to help because she's sorta just internalized the idea that if she's not helping to the best of her ability and more then she's useless. That she's doing something wrong if she's just "lazing around". Abuela did try her best with the family, and she went through a lot of shit, but she still messed her family - especially Mira - up bad. Because of all that, Mira has this idea that since she doesn't have a gift to fall back on or help "normally"? That to make up for that she has to help 24/7, no breaks.
Augustin tries to go about his day normally, but like 3 seconds atter waking up he sneezes and accidently throws himself over the balcony, breaking several bones and is instantly tied to his bed.
Félix doesn't get sick often, and when he is it typically isn't that bad, so he ususally just goes about his day doing the chores and the like. Though he does check out early to relax and rest.
This is like, more boring than the other one, but it was still fun. Maybe I like analyzing the characters of this disney movie just a smidgen too much lmao
Never play qny kind of competitive game with Abuela, Pepa, Isa, or Dolores. They turn that shit into a massacre real quick
The Madrigals are the only family in the town who's children aren't given coffee. They used to be able to, but Alma came to the very quick conclusion that a kid with superpowers and caffeine weren't a good mix

Abuela told Isabela that she was allergic to junk food when she was younger
Both Abuela and Bruno have terrible vision, though they refuse to get glasses. Abuela refuses out of pride while Bruno has broken every pair he’s owned
The family started colour-coding their children because Mirabel and Camilo looked near identical when they were younger, and Abuela was getting tired of not knowing who was who
