Something to commemorate the 78th anniversary of Baby Bottleneck, which is in a neck-and-neck race for my favorite cartoon ever made! (I’m sure you can guess the other.) I’ve been sitting on this idea for years and am so happy to FINALLY have it come to fruition!

I recently learned Mr. Meek was based off of the radio character Wallace Wimple, played by Bill Thompson, who would later base his Droopy voice off of his Wimple voice...

so @hotstrawberryjam and i were talking about coal black and they made some FANTASTIC redesigns/ideas! these are their designs, i just wanted to echo them because they were too good not to share! lots of cool ideas about how the cartoon could have a heavy jazz influence instead of a military influence... lena rand and the seven jazz singers? with prince charming being the conductor. her name of course inspired by 40s stars such as lena horne and vivian dandridge
i’d love to make a series of porky advertisements based on cartoons just because he’s perfectly tailored for graphic design! so, of course, bob clampett’s porky’s hero agency is first up on the list!
