HAPPY HALLOWEEN! In honor of the occasion, here's some old boards from Kamp Koral for "Cretins of the Night", supervised by Keith Silva, written by Mike Bell and rough boarded by Kurt Snyder!

Working on the Sponge shows, I find myself saying "I have no idea how we got away with this" very often. That is true x1000 for this episode where we got to draw SB and Pat having a blood fight. I remember Keith telling me to make sure the blood was a realistic enough color so that everyone knew what we were getting into HAHA. Definitely one of the most memorable episodes I've been a part of for that reason! I also loved getting to draw SB and Pat in their adorable little vampire garb

Don’t lose your head, because our Halloween special “Something Stupid This Way Comes” airs TOMORROW NIGHT at 7PM!! A two parter supervised by Bob Camp and Tim Prendergast!! I maybe detect a hint of bias in saying so, but it’s preeeetty darn good!! Get plenty of ice cream (or... actually, maybe don’t) and enjoy the show!

Some storyboards for Legend of the Lost Bathroom! Written by Jacob Fleisher, Nora Meek, and Zoë Moss, and directed by Tim Prendergast!

This episode was a challenge, but as much fun of a challenge as doing an episode entirely centered around literal bathroom humor can be--which is to say, VERY fun! The Sponge fan and historian in me is VERY excited knowing I got to get my hands on King Neptune (and the other Neptune's crown!)!! What an honor! I learned so much about animation (particularly arcs!!) and staging in this one. I loved getting to experiment with the difference in scale between Pat/Squidina and Neptune and, conversely, Patrick and the Dartfish family! (poor guys).

Bonus boards that were cut for time and continuity, but I still like 'em!

Getting caught up on my storyboard posting, this time for Star-Robics! Written by Ben Kurzrock, Charlie Jackson and Stephen Herczeg and supervised by Tim Prendergast! I never thought that one day I'd get to draw conceringly jacked sea stars, Actual Dinosaurs, or do an incredibly fun 1930s inspired montage with outdated and likely dangerous exercise equipment for television... much less all in the same episode! The '30s montage was especially fun and indulgent to do, and getting to do all these fun perspective shots with the dinosaur and big, muscly Patrick was a great way to get out of my comfort zone.

I am ECSTATIC The Day the Earth Blew Up got a distributor for us yanks! So much so that I had to draw this to tide me over because the anticipation is too much. Yet again Daffy proves to be the ideal role model of an unideal role model

…and the aftermath (they’re both complicit)

A smattering of storyboards from "The Patrick Show After Dark", boarded by Andy Gonsalves and Miggs Perez and supervised by Tim Prendergast! EVERY episode is fun to work on, but it's true some are even MORE fun to work on, and this fits the bill! Milking a rare moment of gravity and seriousness for the "money troubles" of the Star family (they're playing Monopoly) or playing around with a completely new environment and atmosphere--everything involving the animals only nightclub--it was definitely a very memorable episode to work on through so many novelties. Also just love how colorful of an episode it is!! Our BG team and ENTIRE team just keep hitting home runs

Assorted storyboard panels from "Time to Eat", boarded by Gabe del Valle and Mike Pelensky and directed by Tim Prendergast! This was my first episode under the official title of storyboard artist, which is pretty darn neat--especially for such a fun inaugural episode! My old cartoon loving heart had a blast getting to work in the UPA inspired environments of the Quasar section, and striking a balance between Patrick's starved depravity of wanting to eat an about-to-be extinct creature versus milking some genuine pathos out of that was really rewarding. As always, our team hit it out of the park!!

Kamp Koral Season 2 is out, HUZZAH! I'll be posting some boards sporadically, starting first with some work I did for Putt Up or Shut Up! I got to help out Howie Perry's team a little bit which was an incredible honor--especially because it meant getting to work with Howie's hilarious eye candy of drawings! Ditto with cleaning Mike Dougherty's super charming roughs!
