I had thought I wanted to draw the rose thing from the April Fool, but since King Gilbert looks like he would just wear his royal regalia everywhere 24/7, I just felt like drawing him in something more casual instead.
FFFFFF...Seriously, on any usual circumstances King Gilbert would be my favourite. His April Fool scenario is my favourite too, of all the ones I bought. I still don’t know what about King Rukh/Roc that just gets me so bad fdhfjgh...
...You know, I had wondered before what the heck was Roc’s JP name (ルフ Rufu) supposed to be. Back when I first saw it, when I Googled ルフ all that showed up was this company named Ruff, so I was like “this doesn’t make sense” and I thought the translation just changed it into something that sounds less strange (the king of Voleri’s name was also changed from just “Dan” in JP to “Aidan” in Eng).
Well, uh, as it turns out ルフ is actually supposed to be Rukh, which is the same thing as Roc (mythological bird from 1001 Nights). Rukh is the Persian form of the name. WELLP. At least now I know what to call him properly ffff... I feel super dumb now, but I guess I just didn’t search carefully enough.
Gonna have to fix my tags now, I’m so frustrated.
The thing about King Roc/Rufu that really gets me the most is his epithet in the JP profile says “The sovereign who hides (his) loneliness”. The JP epithets are much longer phrases, and for the most part I prefer the English one that are more succinct (and they mostly convey the exact same meaning anyway), but that thing about hiding his loneliness just hits different from just saying “The Lonely Sovereign”.
It’s like... I’m trying to hold back from imagining all sorts of angst without basis because I’m not that far into the routes yet. I’m still just slowly reading the first main routes one by one so I don’t want to jump too far ahead making up weird things on my own.
BUT
Hrrrrggghhhh... I’m a sucker for characters who looks confident, but is actually really sad and lonely inside. Also Rufu/Roc’s vibes and all reminds me of a Certain Someone who I already have bias for and I’m just AUGH. Otherwise, typically my type would’ve been someone like King Gilbert. The “cool and smart” kind of character huhuhu.
(also generic COD fans if you don’t like seeing me having meltdowns over the kings, the tag to hide is Kings of Darkness like the April Fool title, or just the king’s name)

TBH I’m not entirely sure how to interpret 絶対王者. It can either be read as 絶対+王者, which would mean something like “absolute sovereign"; or if it’s read 絶対王者 as a joint phrase, which means “unparalleled victor”, a.k.a someone who wins a lot in contests or championships (usually applied to athletes or sporting teams).
Because like even though the two meanings have somewhat similar vibes, the former has a feeling of a king who has a lot of authority or rules over a large territory, while the latter is someone who is very strong and/or skilled to win a lot of battles.

You know, because in JP the names are based on the 7 demons’ names, not the sins like in the Eng version, this is the “Lucifer” and “Satan” alliance and it just morbidly hilarious to me.
Qelsum is Qifer (Lucifer), Ira is Sata (Satan).
Also I really wish I have more time to catch up on route and lore in the JP game because like... why the hell is there a war happening??? D:
I’ve always thought Rufu and Adis bickering in the April Fool prologue was actually kind of scary, but them being actually at war is scarier. Halp!
You know when I saw this in the JP April Fool a while ago I was so confused about the vaguely Chinese-looking pavilion. Of the Avari folks I’ve only ever played Jasper’s route but I don’t think they went to the main palace yet in that route so I don’t see anything else that might vaguely look Chinese.
Anyone know what’s up with this? Is it just like this without explanation? I can get like if it’s just something out of a stock image pack and they’re like “eh, close enough”, even if it’s not the best option.
I was on a trip and had no tablet with me so I had to do my drawing on pen and paper LOL. I didn’t actually bring proper drawing tools so I kind of just went whatever with Roc/Rufu, but I found a stationery store in the area so I was able to make a nicer-looking Addis.

You know, in the April Fool story, if you choose just one dude it will always just jump to a lovey dovey scene and at no point in was it ever mentioned that the other dude that’s not chosen left the premises. So there’s this niggling thing in my mind where I can’t help imagining that the other person are always just standing there awkwardly watching
Heh. So there’s also an April Fool with professor Hawke... It was 2021 in JP, so it should be next year in Eng (the kings one was 2020 in JP).

I think it’s very funny that Tristitas is “Elsa” in JP. Dafuq is that name even from. Tristitas is some sort of sadness, a variation of Sloth, but I don’t think it has a demon attached to it specifically.
Also look at the messy situation, WTF. There’s a kingdom alliance between all seven kingdoms, but Adis wants out and whew...
The pink relationship label usually means good relationship, but Sata (Ira) and Quifer (Qelsum) are in conflict, so what the hell is “take care of” supposed to mean?
I’m curious but on the other hand, I’m not really into the Actual Love Interests... Maybe I’ll bite for Lance or Leu, they seem okayish (still crying that the troll April Fool King routes are fake and not an actual thing boohoohoo)
