The One Ring

Okay, hear me out. I was rewatching the opening scene of LOTR and I was caught by the making of the One Ring.

“And into this Ring he poured his cruelty, his malice, and his will to dominate all life.” And now I can’t get it out of my head.

What if Sauron was trying to get rid of all his corrupted parts only to have it magnified? What if he WANTED to be Mairon again?

I don't think anything has made me as happy as learning the meaning behind Mairon's name and realizing why almost all the Ringbearers called the One Ring 'Precious'.
