I Left My Heart In Thedas

CONFESSION:

Fiona's depiction in Inquisition genuinely bothers me. Fiona's backstory is laden heavy with abuses - physical, verbal, and sexual - and she was sold to the man who did that to her as a 'pet' while she was a child. So, slavery. And in both books she's in, she's a highly vocal fighter for freedom of both mages and elves who mistrusts nobility on principal. So to see her not only bind the entire mage rebellion against their will to a Magister(slavery, and therefore subjecting her people to things she suffered), but for every interaction after just meekly bow her head and wring her hands and whimper that "we just had no choice", just rubs me the wrong way.

While I am looking forward to Dragon Age Dreadwolf and while I don't hate Solas, its been very disheartening to see every little update and tidbit be about Solas.  The Dragon Age series means more than just Solas to me. I really wish they would release a non solas related content hint,

CONFESSION:

I've played all 3 games multiple times since COVID started getting prepped for 4. Setting up my worlds getting invested in each set up. So one thing I'm doing is trying to leave a different person in the fade each playthrough. (Cheated a little left Stroud the first 2 games cause i couldn't bare to leave Hawke) But for my final two i forced myself to leave Alistair with the Wardens so I had to make the choice. Left a Male/Mage Hawke (romanced Fenris, all his family is dead) and honestly I burst into tears 3 times. When I had to choose him, when Varric came running up asking for him. And again during the scene where Varric is writing letters to their friends and Hawkes LI. The grief was real. I love Alistair just as much, and actually probably more. Hes my most romanced LI through all playthroughs through all games. But leaving him behind didn't quite hit the same way. Noone other than Varric really mentions it even happened. My Inquisitior chewed out the wardens and that made me tear up a little but, Lelianna, Morrigan, hell even Cullen, all knew Alistair from the 5th Blight, none of them even acknowledge his sacrifice. And this was a playthrough with a dead Warden. I just wished there was a scene like with Varric getting angry with the Inquistor with Lelianna. Or Morrigan even mentioning him. I feel a little betrayed by Bioware. Give Alistair some love, the man deserved to be mourned by his friends.

I've had multiple playthroughs myself but the part about Alistair hits pretty hard for me, but in DAO. He made the ultimate sacrifice by killing the Archdemon (no dark ritual) to save my character, the LI. And NO ONE acknowledged it, save two if YOU push to say something about him. Anora and Wynne, and they're small, snippet comments. It's heartbreaking already but having no one else care that he's gone hurts even more...

I will be forever salty about the Teagan/Connor stuff being cut from Dragon Age 2. That Connor cameo was far better than that horrible one we got in Inquisition. And Teagan was a bonus!!

And how rude that they kept it from us!

Angry Confession: In Inquisition, the writers should’ve included dialogue for a Warden Alistair who romanced a HoF who died. Leliana has lines for a dead romanced HoF, as does Morrigan. Why not Alistair?! What a let-down.
