okay, i'm asking for your headcanons: how do you think the faeries (other than maleficent; say, the pixies, the water faeries, dew faeries, all other creatures from the movies and the books) are born? do they reproduce the way dark fae or humans would, or is it some more magical energy thing, or are they just born out of nature they are in?

had an aha moment and thought that, perhaps, when seeing a bird being beaten by a farmer, maleficent's first instinct was to turn the bird into something bigger and not to strike the farmer with magic because she'd just never done it before at that point so it never crossed her mind. up to that point, we've only ever seen her fight physically — with her wings — and she hasn't even tapped into her evil green magic until she heard that stefan had been crowned, but back at the field she had no wings to hit that man and she was too far away anyway, and since she's never thought of using magic for evil, she didn't.
