Assan is just a big puppy so I like to imagine him pawing at Davrin and trying to swat his whittling out of his hands so he’ll pay attention to him while whining like his heart is breaking due to not being the sole center of Davrin’s attention at all times. You know like my dog does when I’m in the middle of playing Veilguard and he starts pawing at my screen and keyboard before he curls up at my feet giving me the biggest, saddest eyes he can possibly manage until I’m forced to cave and pet him.
Rook does in fact have a mabari, it's just that Rook is a member of the Mourn Watch so her mabari is bones and seeing how everyone is reacting to Manfred, the absolute sweetheart, she just decided to leave her bone dog at home until she brings it back to the lighthouse one day and most everyone gets real freaked out by how she spoils and babies the creepy skeleton dog.
so i was able to get solas's banter with davrin....

I've seen Lucanis' family villa so I knew he was rich, but this banter made me realize that he's a rich boy who has no idea what money is worth lmao.

Remember seeing some people saying that it’s a bad choice to encourage Taash to pick being from the Qun or Rivani but doing that choice now and like, y’all do remember the Qun sucks right? Veilguard has cleaned a lot of things up but the Qun does have an insanely strict caste system, dehumanizes its members to the point they don’t have names but go by titles - not to mention what happens to mages in the Qun and everything that goes along with being saarebas - will torture and ‘reeducate’ people and leave them thinking the Qun was correct for doing so like with Iron Bull, and have such strict gender roles that if you play a female warden in origins you end up in a conversation with Sten that leaves you both more confused than you started about how the warden can be both a Grey Warden (a warrior) and a woman. I understand the critique but still, the Qun is really, really fucked up and encouraging someone to embrace it and everything that comes with it feels a little icky. I reloaded to see what both options say and yeah I just can’t justify saying the Qun is something good to be a part of.
Adding on to this, but being Qunari (as in the race) is not the same as being Qunari (a member of the Qun). I could definitely be misremembering my lore but I feel like the games before Veilguard have gone out of their way to differentiate the two and the conflation is wild because being part of the Qun is not great for people a lot of the time. There are things to admire about the Qun like its commitment to equality but you interrogate that for idea for a bit and it kinda falls apart because they exist in a caste system. Sure you won’t be judged for your race but you will be insanely discriminated against due to gender and what role you fulfill in society. I understand why people might be upset about the meta aspect of encouraging a character from a multicultural background to pick one or the other but when looking at it from the view of what those societies are like in the setting, the Qun is obviously the more fucked up choice here. Taash and the way they are exploring their gender after being criticized their whole life for not being what their Qun following mother considers a woman to be and then pushing them to embrace the Qun that likes to put people into well defined boxes just feels wrong. I might change my opinion as I see more of the questline but encouraging Taash to embrace the freedom of Rivaini culture feels so much more natural then getting Taash to find the right box to check in the Qun which is insanely segregated and gendered even if it does seem to understand being trans (Krem), is it a system willing to address being non binary and accept Taash as they are? I don’t feel like it is and even if so, see above for all the reasons someone should probably run the other way when dealing with the Qun because they are incredibly restrictive and controlling in every aspect of society
imagine how much more fucked up the history of the world would be if eating someone's brains reliably conferred on you their memory and knowledge

Here's my new Rook's backstory
Seeing Spite literally let out an “Ugh!” and sound so disgusted when encountering a spirit of Compassion, I need to get that little freak in a room with Cole. I need to see that interaction, it would be so fucking cursed. Nicest boy-spirit in the world and the embodiment of Fuck You
Playing through Bloodbath again and I just know Rook and Neve were exchanging side glances at that cut off amatus when Zara saw Illario like “are you going to tell him?” and then just deciding to keep their mouths shut because they’re not about to tell the guy possessed by Spite that his cousin was fucking the woman who’s been torturing them both for a year and was also the one to sell Lucanis out in the first place. They’re both a little too smart to put themselves in the firing line to tell the guy with a demon in him who just lost his grandma that his only remaining family member fucked him over because Illario’s a jealous bitch.
