Doctor Who (1996)- BTS Part 2
Doctors Seven and Eight at Gallifrey One in 2004.
"Anyway, I wish you well. I wish you everything you wish for yourself and the TARDIS, I hope you have great adventures. I know you will, I had. All the best mate, all the best. I look forward to meeting you someday.
Sylvester McCoy, who played the Seventh Doctor, has shared a message with Ncuti Gatwa ahead of his upcoming era as the Fourteenth Doctor.
“Welcome, Ncuti Gatwa! Welcome to our unique club,” McCoy says. “The Doctor Who club!”
“You are very welcome, and it will be a delight to watch you take on the Daleks, the Cybermen, the Weeping Angels and… the critics. We all had to do that when we took over!
"Another Scot,” he added. “Wehay!”
Sylvester is literally my krypnonite. He’s a little cinnamon roll. He’s actually so sassy irl but sweet oz he’s such a good egg 😭
say it with me: seven was a wonderful doctor. sylvester mccoy was not a miscast.
"Sylvester, don't- no, get down from- DONT CLIMB ON THAT! SYLVESTER-"

The passing of the torch.
Happy Doctor Who Day. 53 years today since it’s television premier on BBC1 (Saturday 23rd November, 1963). This photo with surviving “Classic Who” Doctors (left to right: Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Tom Baker, Paul McGann, Peter Davison) was taken at Collectormania (Milton Keynes) in 2012.
What I remember
- They both think The Five(ish) Doctors was the best anniversary special
- McCoy is miffed at McGann for not telling them he was in an official production for the anniversary
- Neither of them think being an actor is a good career choice
- But McGann is hella proud of his son anyway (who doesn’t understand why he has his own Wikipedia page - apparently he didn’t realise Big Finish was a big thing)
- McGann loves telling about having to stand on a box because of his height
- McGann thinks Alien 3 is the best production he was on.
- McGann is still not over the wig. Someone asked if either of them had ever taken anything from a production, and Paul said everyone at the Movie production had to keep an eye on him - because he’d take the wig home to light it on fire
- Neither of them like (Belgian) beer that much - Paul would rather have a wine.
- Paul also told a story about two “undercover fans”. One was a personal bodyguard who he’d been assigned, who waited until the last day to go full on fanboy. Another was his accountant for 20 years - who only told McGann how much of a massive fan of his he was on his last day. “Poor guy was always so nervous around me!”.
- McCoy’s undercover fan story involved a tax audit. The auditor came back a second time, with reinforcement, much to McCoy’s annoyance… Especially when it turned out they only came back because the reinforcement was a fan who’d wanted to meet Sylvester.
- McCoy does a mean Peter Jackson impression
- McCoy was in the hobbit, you know
- He also talked about producing audio dramas in somebody’s toilet in the early day (that’s where the best sound acoustics were - and some handy sound effects)
- McGann and McCoy are a great comedy duo
- Paul’s voice is still molten honey.

The Ultimate Time Lord: Peter’s like the annoyed older brother, Sylv and Colin are the troublesome middle children who can’t shut up, and Paul’s the kid brother who watches the ridiculous antics of his siblings with rapt attention.
