The Hoia Baciu Forest - The World’s Most Haunted Forest In Romania lies what many people refer to as the world’s most haunted forest, the Hoia Baciu forest. The forest didn’t just come across this title, it earned it. Numerous ghost sightings, disappearances, UFO sightings, and paranormal attacks have taken place over the years. At the center of it all lies the Dead Zone, a near perfect circle where plant life refuses to grow and paranormal activity seems to be the most prevalent. Over the years many people have gone missing in the forest. The earliest known disappearance was known to be a shepherd and his 200 sheep who never returned after entering the forest. Those who searched for him found no trace of him or his sheep. Another story if of a little 5 year old girl who went missing in the forest only to return 5 years later wearing the same clothes and with no recollection of where she had been. There are no explanations for the disappearances of these people, they just vanish. These disappearances have given the forest the nickname of “The Bermuda Triangle of Romania.” Although unexplained disappearances are strange, the forest is also infamous for its paranormal activity. Many people have been able to capture strange photos of ghostly figures and orbs. Many others report seeing shadowy figures, being scratched or pushed by unknown assailants, and even see UFOs. Many people will hear screams, growls, giggles and voices when they’re in the forest with nobody in sight. On top of people have reported numerous UFO sightings over the Dead Zone, light anomalies, and experience malfunctioning electronic equipment or find their batteries drained. On top of all that, some of the forest’s trees grow abnormally into strange, twisted shapes with no reason as to why. There have even been fluctuations in the magnetic field recorded around the Dead Zone. It’s no wonder many people simply refuse to enter the forest. Because of all the strange and unexplained phenomenon in the forest it’s no wonder its earned its name as the world’s most haunted forest. Many believe that the Dead Zone is a portal to another dimension. Some believe the missing people have actually been abducted by UFOs. Others simply think its cursed. The answers lie inside the forest and its infamous Dead Zone. Are you brave enough to find out for yourself?
Ghost Adventures Missed Apparition
The popular show Ghost Adventures has been responsible for documenting groundbreaking paranormal evidence since their documentary aired in 2004. The investigators pride themselves on capturing damning evidence of the paranormal, but sometimes eagle eyed fans see something that the crew may have missed. During their investigation of the Palmer House Hotel, Zak, Nick and Aaron held an EVP session on the location’s second floor. The team begins to experience a large quantity of unexplained activity, including lead investigator Zak Bagans being scratched.
During this hotbed of activity, viewers of the show claim that the crew captured a full bodied apparition and didn’t even know it. While reviewing an EVP, an apparition can be seen standing in the doorway behind Zak. While it does look like the shape of a person it hasn’t been confirmed if this is official paranormal evidence or not. While many viewers think that this a full bodied apparition, it could be nothing more than some debris or other obstructions. Do you agree with the viewers? What do you think it is?
The Boot Hill Cemetery Ghost
In 1996 a man named Ike Clanton took a photo of his friend dressed in period clothing at Boot Hill Cemetery in Tombstone, Arizona. The two were surprised to see that something unexpected was seen in the background of the photo. In the background of the photo a mysterious figure can be seen. Even stranger, it seems like the figure is buried from the stomach down. When zoomed in, you can see that the figure in the background is also dressed in period clothing. Is this the ghost of an old gunslinger rising out of his grave?
Tombstone isn’t a stranger to paranormal activity, and Boot Hill cemetery is no exception. People notice strange lights and see apparitions there regularly, does this photo support those claims? Or do you think that this photo is just a hoax? Either way the photo is definitely strange, and has remained unsolved for 22 years.
Tewin Bury Farm Ghost
In 2008 a man named Neil Sandbach took a photo of Tewin Bury Farm in Hertfordshire. He was taking photos for a couple’s wedding invitations and stationary who were to be married there. After Neil put the photos on his computer he noticed a strange figure in his photo.
During the couple’s wedding, the newlyweds asked the staff of Tewin Bury Farm if they’ve ever seen anything “spooky” on the property. The staff had no knowledge of the photo, but told the couple that on several occasions that they have seen a young boy dressed in white. There is no tragic history that would suggest that Tewin Bury would be haunted, which makes this photo all the more mysterious.
The Haunted Stanley Hotel
in 1903 Freelan Oscar Stanley became sick with tuberculosis, and underwent his treatment of “fresh air” in Colorado’s rocky mountains. By 1907 he had recovered and the Stanley Hotel was opened in 1909 in Estes Park, Colorado. It didn’t take long for the paranormal activity to start though, in 1911 a housekeeper was struck with lightning in room 217. She survived, but since then room 217 and the rest of the hotel has become a hot spot for paranormal activity.
The two pictures above both feature ghostly apparitions taken by the hotel’s guests. The photo on the left was taken by a man named Henry on the Grand Staircase, which appears to show a figure of a woman dressed in period clothing at the top of the stairs. The photo on the right was taken by John Mausling and shows what appears to be the ghost of a young girl also on the Grand Staircase, and another figure wearing a black hat walking up the adjacent stairs, the second figure is however disputed. Other guests report doors that open and shut on their own, unexplained footsteps in the middle of the night, and the sounds of children running and laughing in the halls. Steven King wrote his book The Shining, after being inspired from a night he spent in room 217. It’s no doubt the hotel is extremely haunted, but if you don’t believe me then go ahead and stay a night. I’m sure you will change your mind.
Robert Johnson and the Devil
Robert Johnson was an American blues musician from 1928 through 1938. He was an extremely influential musician and very talented. So talented that some say that he may have sold his soul to the Devil to gain his immeasurable skills in songwriting, singing and playing the guitar. His life was short lived and he became another one of the many talented musicians who also died at 27. This is one of the very few photos of him to exist, in fact there are only two photos confirmed to be him and just a few others that are disputed. However, it turns out that Mr. Johnson may have sold his soul after all, in the top-right corner of the photo is what appears to be a faded and ghostly face of the Devil staring at Johnson. You can distinctly make out eyes, horns, a nose, and the entire shape of the head, below which appears to be a ghostly mist.
The Faceless Girl: Hungary 1943
A man took this photo of his wife leaning against signpost in Hungary, 1943, but the photo captured a bit more than that. There are two figures in the photo but the most disturbing of which is the faceless, armless girl standing on the road behind the woman. And directly behind the woman is a full frown man appearing to be walking. This photo is something you’d expect to see in a horror film and its honestly worthy of one.
The photo surfaced back on July 1st, 2016 on Paranormal 360 with the uploader named Szigeti Gyöngy claiming he lives in Hungary and had just found the photo of his mother and the photographer was his father. He also provided the raw photo and writing on the back of it that can't be translated. The photo was not altered and was actually taken in 1943. What the two figures are is unknown, but disturbing nonetheless.
Tower of Terror Ghost
This video was captured during a after hours maintenance check of Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ Tower of Terror ride. The video shows an employee checking on the ride to make sure everything is functioning correctly… but it appears he wasn’t the only one on the ride that night. The first ghostly figure appears to be sitting behind the worker at 0:27. The figure is only visible for less than a second but pausing the video will give you a clear view of it. The figure is gone for a while but reappears at 1:15 down the row from the man. It appears to be sitting on the ride and is only visible for brief moments until it is clearly seen from 1:22 until 1:25. The figure is seen there faintly until it’s completely gone at 1:30. This isn’t the first piece of ghost footage from Walt Disney World, and it’s not the first time the resort and theme parks have been rumored to be haunted. Hundreds of people’s ashes have been spread across Disney World’s theme parks, resorts and yes even inside the rides. And while there have been very few incidents, there has been documented deaths in Disney World. Is this footage genuine evidence of ghosts on the Tower of Terror? Or is it just a publicity stunt done by Disney to attract more people to their parks? Stay curious!
Goatman’s Bridge
Oscar Washburn was a prosperous African American goat farmer back in the 1930’s in Denton County, Texas. He was better known as “The Goatman” who sold the meat, milk and hides from his goats. However his profitable business would be the death of him. One day he hung a sign off the Old Alton Bridge to point people towards his farm, “This Way to the Goatman!” it said. Upon seeing the advertisement, the local Ku Klux Klan was infuriated. On a night darker than most they drug Oscar from his home and to the Old Alton Bridge where they had a noose waiting. They tightened it around his neck and threw him over the bridge, but Oscar never made it to the bottom of the rope. When the Klan members went down to the bank of the Hickory Creek to see Oscar’s lifeless body they only found an empty noose silently swinging below the bridge. Out of panic the Klan members ran back to his farm and burned it down with his family still inside. In the years that followed the bridge became known as Goatman’s Bridge, and fell victim to vandalism and was a popular spot for Satan worship. Paranormal reports include glowing red eyes in the dark and a man with the head of a goat which is sometimes carrying the heads of goats. They say the vengeful spirit of the Goatman brings with him the smell of decaying flesh. Demonic spirits are also said to haunt the bridge and surrounding woods due to the Satanist activity. They say if you venture out onto the bridge at night and tap 3 times on the bridge the Goatman will emerge from the shadows to pay you a visit. These stories seem far fetched and exaggerated, but are you brave enough to find out for yourself? The Goatman awaits your arrival.
The White Lady of Worstead Church
In August of 1975 Diane Berthelot was on vacation with her husband and son in North Norfolk, UK. Diane had been sick for quite some time and the heat was beginning to bother her, so they went into a church to rest up. Diane sat in a pew and took advantage of the time to pray for better health, during which her husband snapped this photo of her. When their vacation had ended and they returned home they noticed the strange white figure sitting behind Diane who wasn’t there when the photo was taken.
They returned a year later with Diane in better health and showed the photo to a vicar who explained to them the legend of the White Lady. She is said to be a healer who brings good health to people in need of it. Diane’s sickness had indeed gotten better since their vacation ended and its believed that is all owed to the mysterious White Lady.
MEL Meter (EMF Detector)
When paranormal investigators need to document evidence of the paranormal they bring many tools to the investigation. A favorite of investigators is the MEL Meter. The MEL is an EMF (Electro-Magnetic Field) detector that displays on a digital interface. Spirits are made up of electromagnetic energy so if the EMF reading spikes then the investigator can infer that there is a spirit in their presence. Below the EMF reading is the temperature displayed in Fahrenheit, if there is a change in temperature along with an EMF spike then the investigator can better gather evidence of a spirit’s presence. Compare those two readings with an EVP, visual anomaly or poltergeist activity then an investigator has gathered documented evidence of a spirit manifestation.
Shadow People
A shadow figure is a paranormal entity that appears as a dark black figure typically in a male-humanoid form. Exactly what they are is unknown and so is their purpose. Some believe them to be their own guardian angel but others believe them to be demonic, malevolent entities. Of course a shadow figure could just simply be a ghost manifesting itself and appearing as a black shadow. Its difficult to say exactly what these mysterious beings are, and since the paranormal isn’t an exact science we may never know.
An interesting thing to note is the recurring descriptions. The main one seen is a hatted black figure, this is seen all over the world by many people. The second most common is a hooded figure. Sometimes these figures appear as full bodied shadows, but other times they’re only seen from the waist up. A lot of times witnesses just describe a cloudy black mass, these too can be shadow figures who just haven’t manifested into a humanoid form.
Next time you see a black shadow out of the corner of your eye, only to dart out of view when you look directly at it know that you’re not alone. You are being watched.
The Gray Man
There are many different and famous hauntings in the Carolinas, but South Carolina has a very unique one. The Gray Man is a spirit that haunts the beaches of Pawleys Island, South Carolina. His presence warns residents of deadly storms and hurricanes before they strike. Those who heed his warning survive the storm, and apparently so do their homes. His last appearance was before Hurricane Hugo is 1989. How the man came to haunt the beaches is all just a legend, but there could be some truth to it. Back in the 1800’s a man left his home to visit his lover across the island. He left on his horse and headed down the coast. When the sun started to set he decided to take a shortcut through the marshes, while cutting through them his horse became startled and the man fell into the marsh. He struggled to fight the marsh but it slowly consumed him, he took his last breath and was dragged below the surface. His lover waited patiently at her home but he never came. When news of the tragedy befell her she took a walk on the beach as she desperately attempted to wrap her head around the tragedy. As she walked alone she encountered a familiar looking man in grey, of whom she recognized as her lover. He warned her that the island wasn’t safe and she must leave it, but before she could mutter a word he was gone.
The Ghost of Abraham Lincoln
Considered to be one of America’s most beloved presidents, Abraham Lincoln was truly missed after his assassination in 1865. But some say he never left the White House and that he may have decided to permanently call it home. He is said to haunt the White House and has been seen on numerous occasions by visitors and occupants. It’s also said you can hear his footsteps near his bedroom and often at night he will knock on the door. Those who have heard the knocks include President Truman and his daughter Margaret who both have heard them while sleeping in the Lincoln bedroom. Many witnesses have claimed to see the former president sitting on the edge of his bed, or laying in bed. Eleanor Roosevelt’s secretary Mary Eben said she saw Mr. Lincoln sitting at the edge of the bed putting his boots on which sent her screaming down the halls.
President Theodore Roosevelt has claimed to see the former president in the White House. And Maureen Reagan, the daughter of Ronald Reagan spotted the president once too. In 1942 Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands was staying in the Lincoln bedroom when she heard footsteps and a knock at the door. She got out of bed to answer only to see President Lincoln standing there in his iconic top hat, which caused her to faint on the spot.
The most famous encounter with the spirit of former President Lincoln was witnessed by British Prime Minister Winston Churchill during his stay at the White House. He was taking a bath late at night with a cigar and a glass of scotch to relax from a day of politics. He got out of the tub, and walked into his adjoining bedroom naked. He was startled when he saw President Lincoln leaning on the mantle above the fireplace. Churchill tapped the ash off of his cigar and said “Good evening, Mr. President. You seem to have me at a disadvantage.” Lincoln smiled and disappeared before Churchill’s eyes, leaving him embarrassed and rushing for his clothes. The ghost of Lincoln still haunts the White House, but he is a spirit that is welcome to stay.
The Demon House
The Ammons family moved into what seemed like a normal Indiana home in 2011, little did they know they were in for a nightmare. When they moved in on a winter day in November the activity started with a swarm of flies inside the screened-in porch, which is unusual due to the cold weather. Within the following days the family began to experience poltergeist activity. It became a recurring event that every night at midnight there would be footsteps in the basement and the basement door would creak open slowly. Every night this happened and every night they checked for intruders, but there was nobody there. Unfortunately the activity would only get worse. Latoya (the mother) awoke one night to see a dark figure in her living room which left muddy bootprints on the floor. Another day she found her daughter unconscious and levitating, following this event the children became victims to possessions where they would speak in tongues with bloodshot eyes and smirks on their faces. During a visit to the hospital one of the boys cursed at the entire staff, attacked his brother and walked backwards up a wall and onto the ceiling. After doctors and nurses witnessed the event the children were taken into custody by Child Services. The family was finally able to leave when Zak Bagans purchased the home for $35,000. He intended to shoot a documentary there and did in 2014. However he had to stop production of the documentary after the possession of a crew member. The documentary entered post production and was set to release in 2015, but got delayed until 2016. However we still never got to see it and it’s claimed it’s still in post-production with no set release date. After he finished filming at the location Bagans had the house demolished. There have not been any statements on the documentary, and everything about it has seemed to go silent. We may never see the documentary or learn more about the strange and disturbing occurrences at the house.
Banshee
We’ve all heard of a banshee, the word has been tossed around at least once in your life. They come from Ireland and are said to shriek to give warning of a death that is soon to happen. Those who hear the shriek do not know who is going to die they just know it could be them or someone they love, usually family members. Not all banshees are said to warn of death, some are said to cause it. There are hate filled evil banshees who wish to harm and kill their victims. They do so by shrieking until the person either dies, kills themselves or goes insane. Others are known to rip their victims apart with their long fingernails. These sinister spirits usually appear as old hags, dirty and bloody with piercing red eyes that can cause death just by looking at them. However there are good banshees who feel sorry for the upcoming death of someone so they cry and sing to a family member of the soon to be deceased in order to give them time to prepare for the death. These banshees appear as young beautiful women, who sing sad songs and are concerned for the family. Banshees are also known to latch onto families, some even previous family members who have since passed away. They say that the good banshees watch over the family and care for them. Perhaps she was a family member who loved her family very much before passing. The evil ones are thought to be upset with their family due to them being mistreated in one way or another so they seek revenge by causing the death of family members. Nowadays it’s thought that banshees are fictional and just part of Irish legend and folklore. However all legends and stories have some truth behind them. So is it possible that banshees truly do exist? What do you think? Stay curious!
Isla de las Muñecas
South of Mexico City sits a place straight out of a horror film. The Isla de las Muñecas which translates to Island of the Dolls is one of the worlds creepiest places on earth. Hanging from trees all around the island are dolls, but the reason they are there are far more terrifying. Don Julian Santana Barrera was the caretaker of Isla de las Muñescas, one day he found the body of a drowned young girl floating near the shore. Days later a found a doll floating in the water that he assumed was the young girl’s so he grabbed it and hung it up on the island in remembrance of her. Over the years dolls continued to float towards the island, some burnt, missing eyes, arms legs and heads. Yet Julian continued to hang the dolls around the island. It wasn’t long before he noticed something strange about the dolls, they would move and blink and even whisper to eachother. It had appeared that the dolls had become possessed by the spirits of children, including the spirit of the little girl who Julian found dead in the water. He became full of regret and guilt of the young girl’s death, and after 50 years of torment he was found dead, floating in the water drowned in the same spot he found the young girl. Some even say he now too possesses the dolls on Isla de las Muñecas The Island of the Dolls has become a place of nightmares. A haunted island full of possessed dolls seems fearful to most, and there are very few who are brave enough to step foot on it in broad daylight, and even fewer at night. Could you?
