Well, in my case I got interested in Primarchs, so my go to was to go and check out Horus Heresy, but if you are here for the delightful green boyz - I am unfortunately not the best person to ask.

Might suggest you checking out wikis like Lexicanum to see if you will get interested in any particular events or sub-factions of Orkz or named characters and navigating from there to see in which books or games they appear! There is also, of course, a question if you are more into space orks or fantasy orks! Or maybe both!

I also think I got at least few people following me who would be happy to show you around and maybe provide and book recommendations or generally useful resources :D

For tonight: Nerd bros Magnus and Perturabo geeking out over Perturabo’s model collection. From Magnus the Red:

‘Not yet,’ said Perturabo. ‘Soon. When the Crusade is done and we have heroic tales aplenty to fill it with song, then I’ll build it. On the mountain across from father’s palace.’

‘I will be there to see it unveiled,’ promised Magnus, and his enthusiasm for his brother’s works was genuine and contagious. He and Perturabo spoke as brothers who had shared every memory from birth to this moment, yet they had known each other for only a few short years.”

“The obvious love between these godlike warriors filled the workspace with a swelling feeling of confraternity, a bond of brotherhood that could never be broken.”

Now, this is a great question and I am not even sure which answer would be funnier to make the official version.

Have Shanakay spent untold decades perfecting her disguises so she can enjoy her vacations in realspace in peace, while blending perfectly with mortal crowd? Probably.

Is it enough to trick Guilliman, even if she tries really hard? Who knows, I would not bet on this, because I think it would kinda undermine the fact that Primarchs are like, super smart and all.

Would it be also funny if despite all her prep Shanakay is still getting some stuff so obviously wrong or so jarringly right you just can't stop, but question that something is wrong? Maybe there are just too many of these "how are you doing, fellow humans" moments.

So maybe Guilliman knows. Shanakay probably knows that he knows. And both of them are too tired from their jobs to have The Talk about it and instead just go to watch cows together and complain about how no one does their paperwork right on their respective sides of reality.

What is your take on the situation? What do you think would be the best fit for the story?

Now, I have gotten you ask some time ago and I was just, yes, I am SO stealing this for my Fuzzverse canon, because you are SO correct here.

So the hot new bestselling addition to the Fuzzverse is just about this. As it was established, Shanakay has three daemonette handmaidens (of sorts; no one really knows the exact specifics of their employment. But they get to steal snacks from her fridge) - Iris, Azalea and Nightshade. Iris being the most reasonable out of them and the esteemed holder of their collective brain cells. Except for their collective horny brain cell, this one goes to Azalea.

And it was also established back in ye olde days of AskHammer that Lacedrace has one, but very productive tzaangor assistant. Sanya shortened his name to Ivan at one point and the lad just ran with it. Ivan the Tzaangor really loves guns. But he also loves books. This is how he got hired to be Lacedrace's little helper.

And Iris with Ivan have a little book club together. This is mostly just them alone, but sometimes they have other... "people" dropping by. Currently they are working through some sort of an aeldari classic, Farseer Saga. They are fifteen books, roughly thirty four betrayals, twenty main character deaths and approximately six hundred pages of solely spicy aeldari bedchamber scenes in and Iris is convinced that this is still, in fact, prologue.

Ho Arāi has silly names for all of their uncles. Uncle Tari (Mortarion), Uncle Fulgy, UNCLE MAGNUS!!!! (exclamation points necessary) (Mortarion and Perturabo are both annoyed that Magnus gets a proper name), Uncle Angry/Angy, and Uncle Turby/Bo (Pert hates Turby but he hates Bo more. he really just wants them to say “Perturabo” but they never will). Ho Arāi looks Abaddon in the eyes and calls him “Upstart”.

Mortarion, Magnus, and Fulgrim belong to team “spawn” while Perturabo, Angron, and Abaddon belong to team “grub”. Lorgar belongs to team “that’s my child stop debating this”.

Hi there & thank you for the compliments and the ask! This was a good challenge, because while funny and snarky moments stick to my brain like flies on flypaper, wholesome dad moments are harder to recall. But still important :)

Here’s one from the wholesomest of wholesome dads: Vulkan. From the Primarch book, Lord of Drakes. Vulkan and his Nocturnians are finally reunited with the rest of the Legion, and fight a massive battle together against an Orc horde. Afterward:

“Nine on and Orasus had kept to within a few metres of Vulkan during the entire rout. Now they dropped to their knees before him. The entirety of the Terran XVIII did the same.

‘No,’ Vulkan said. ‘Rise, my sons. I am your father, not your king. We do not kneel in fealty.’ They looked up at him and, after a hesitation, got to their feet again. Vulkan was not finished. ‘Kneeling is an act of respect. It is a tribute that must be earned. And you have earned it.’

He knelt, and the Legion in its entirety murmured in awe.”
