I specifically need to mention that in my CCU canon for the Dragon Age it is a very important story bit that miss madam Tabby does in fact drag Loghain out of his retirement to go help in the Veilguard

#so true honestly#like yes i haven't played inquisition in a while#but from what i remember and quickly gleaned from wiki#from how fandom makes it look vivienne must have kicked them in the shins and steal their lunch#while she is like#sassy? snarky? confidently witty?#like she is a woman with strong opinions on things and deservedly high opinion of herself#people are happy to lap whatever annoying insults alistar and morrigan sling at one another for half of the game#but suddenly vivienne is too much#if vivienne has no fans i must dead send a necromancer#dragon age

Maybe this is just mage thing and other two do it differently and maybe it becomes more apparent with specializations, but so far, yes, I can (sort of) pick on what magic element my Rook will specialise and get a few perk upgrades here and there that affect one of two weapon types/offer some general benefit, but I the variety in combat feels a bit lackluster?

It is fun and I like the straightforward combo system, but I get an impression that whatever mage I make it will always be just kinda it, unless specialization change the gameplay in some meaningful way.

(Also I love your game liveblogging and opinions, very fascinating and interesting to join you on hour journey!)

i have not touched or really looked at mage or rogue so i can't really comment.

i think warrior feels different cuz going one way pushes you towards sword + board and fire, another way is sword + board and necrotic and the last is like pure fury two-handed smash shit..... i did know which one i preferred pretty quickly and two-handed felt very different to sword + board.

i went with champion which had the ability to let me block and parry the red abilities, which no other specialisation or class can do, so it definitely felt very different to me. and it's got me worried for when i play the others cuz i'm so used to face tanking everything and focusing on perfect blocking to parry but the others want you to dodge.

But thank you! Will look and see how mages specializations would change the playstyle. So far I am definitely enjoying dagger and orb more than staves, which is a shame because Spellsword spec for the former seems to be electric and Crows themed, while Shadow Dragon-themed spec is about staves and, I think, ice?
