I like them well enough, but I don't think I'd dedicate a build to them. They have that middle ground where they don't quite swing fast enough (or maybe it's the delay between attacks) to justify how not-crunchy their hits feel to me. I suppose I might like them better if I played Longsword in Monster Hunter.

The beast claws and hand-to-hand arts are probably my favorite additions.

So I got a slightly uncomfortable ask.

I'm not going to respond directly to it. Instead I'm just gonna put this out here:

I'm perfectly fine with folks thirsting after my characters.

In the same vein, I also do not want to know what specific fetish you want to see them involved in or subjected to.

Thanks.

You draw such an amazing range of body types it's so cool and sexy. You're cool and sexy as consequence.

Hey thanks! I think my favorite part of drawing different physiques is when I draw them in the same image and there's a clear contrast. Something about that is particularly satisfying.

Here I'll ramble about my favorite games this year.

This sure was a good year, and I have better opinions than the game awards do so I'm just gonna talk into the ether for a bit here.

Once upon a time I liked D&D 5e quite a bit, just like everyone else on this god forsaken internet. In recent years I've been more interested in Pathfinder 2e and Lancer. After so many years rolling with 5e, it became a bit more refreshing to try systems with more specific and rigid rules for certain things. However, a videogame requires specific adherence to rules to function, and in this respect, Baldur's Gate 3 is an incredible adaptation of the system. There's just so much stupid bullshit you're allowed to get away with in game that most devs would not even consider. I may have played thru act 1 like 7 times now and it's still entertaining. Also I went from hating Lae'zel to loving her. Congrats Larian, you made me like perhaps the most annoying person I've ever met in a videogame.

As my bones start to deteriorate I find myself seeking smaller, more intimate games that give a sort of feeling. Lunacid is "like" Kingsfield in the way that it's a first-person dungeon crawler. That's where the buck stops for that comparison gameplay wise. However, Lunacid offers an extremely specific feeling I find is rare in games. It's the same sort of "you're lost and alone but also it's also groovy" feel as Metroid Prime 1 & 2. And if you can capture the same sort of feeling that some of my favorite games ever gave me as a teenager, you're just automatically on my games of the year list.

I saw a gameplay video in passing on twitter, got slightly horny because caked-up goat lady, went to the steam page and saw OVERWHEMINGLY POSITIVE. I don't think my experience with Pseudoregalia is unique. It just feels great to jump around and the music slaps.

Cross the feeling of the open-sea adventure of Wind Waker, with the chase and collection of fishing minigames of countless other titles, and the dread of exploring the uncaring unknown. It scratches a seldom-scratched itch of exploratory joy within an indifferent universe. Dredge's systems can be distilled to the simple loop of growing beyond your own fears to discover more and more. None of these fears is particularly intense, but it's enough. Dredge isn't going to find itself on game of the year lists because it's doing any one thing particularly well. It's also not doing anything specifically or wholly NEW. It is however, more than the sum of it's parts, and it is beautiful.

Remnant 2 is the best co-op souls-style game that exists, tied with Nioh 2. That's it, that's what I had to say. It just real good and it deserves to be on game of the year lists.

So like, late this year, 2 Souls successors came out. Lies of P and Lords of the Fallen. And goddamn did Lords inspire division.

I think these releases really showed that people who are "Souls Fans" really cover a LOT of different specific interests, and not all of these interests are well-represented in every souls-like. Lords, perhaps amazingly, seems to cater to what I particularly want out of a Souls game, whereas Lies of P did not. I like these games for their challenge, sure, but more importantly, I like the character building. The ability to create a unique playstyle that I can take on the game with. This slowly grated on me in Lies of P because the game really only wants you to play it (and succeed at it) a certain way. Because the perfect parry was the truest answer to everything a boss could throw at you, and the dodge sucks ass, I felt more exhausted by the end of the game than anything. I also wanted to try a strength build, but the heaviest weapons cannot manage to fully wind up and land a hit on any bosses past the halfway point. Without any hyper-armor or poise, the "big weapon" playstyle felt completely trash, even outside of bosses. Lords lets me dodge, block, perfect parry, and hey they ALL feel useful. I can actually wind up big weapon hits too! Yeah it feels a bit floaty, and yeah enemy density can be rather crazy at times, but I'm the weirdo who's favorite Dark Souls is DS2. Lords also does ranged combat better than any of it's contemporaries. I think a lot of people also never played the original Lords of the Fallen. Now that game SUCKED. I played the whole thing, my god.

GAME OF THE YEAR BAYBEE

I've already talked about AC6, but again, you can't just get me to complete a game. I see an achievement list and I say "fuck that, I hate that!" I saw AC6's Achievement list and I was rubbing my hands together like a cartoon villain. Like Pseudoregalia, AC6 just feels good to play. It feels so tight, and after a few hours you can feel the minute changes in the way your mech handles even after small part swaps. Anyways it needs DLC with more Rusty content. 12/10.

MORE Armored Core 6 Thoughts - The Corporate Military Leaders

After coming to the conclusion that Armored Core is my game of the year, I've been thinking needlessly deeply about many little bits of the game. I wanted to put some thoughts out there about the Corporate Military Leaders (V.II Snail & G1 Michigan). More specifically what makes them so different in how the player perceives them -- How their corny characterization makes them all the more engrossing. Spoilers to follow.

Michigan

• Massive blowhard military type, speaks with all the bravado of your stereotypical US army drill sergeant.

• Despite this, he is somewhat endearing. He's still a shill for Balam, but he has a clear level of respect for those under him, and grants even more respect where it's clearly deserved.

• Knows all his underlings by name.

• Will chastise his own men for not showing you enough respect on the mission where you are expected to kill him and his entire force. Seems to take it well despite what's happening.

• Despite his position placing him as one of the defcato villains, there is very little direct animosity to muster for him. By the point in the story where you can decide to kill him, Balam has already lost the race, and Michigan has shown very little ill will towards you personally (even if you've previously betrayed the Redguns).

---

(Quick note on V.I Freud: While Freud is Technically a higher rank than Snail, he's clearly turned over military leadership to Snail, which makes Snail more of the de-facto face of Arquebus. Freud's just an ace who shows up to have a good fight, and otherwise doesn't make much of a show. Which, yeah, that's fine.)

Snail

• The Immediate difference here is that Snail is consistently depicted as conceited and selfish. Where Michigan is on first-name basis with basic underlings, Snail is verbally disgusted with the thought of acknowledging anything or anyone that isn't directly and immediately beneficial to him.

• And that's great because this game ABSOLUTELY benefits from having someone that's so easy to hate. Snail treats everyone around him, including his ranked allies, and even Freud, like dirt.

• He's even worse to you in the sense that he's convinced his type of space-cyber-lobotomy is so much newer and shinier than yours and makes him objectively superior to you. Like calm down dude this isn't a brain damage contest.

• This makes the Liberator of Rubicon Ending immensely satisfying in a way the other 2 endings just don't compare to. The game has spent around 15-ish hours having this guy be a gigantic douche in nearly every line he speaks, and then he shows up to fight you when realistically he doesn't even have to considering the circumstances.

• And so with Rusty's theme blaring in the background, he has an angry breakdown while you send him and his Balteus 2: Scuffed Laser Edition™ directly to the shadow realm. It is the most satisfying boss kill in the game.

Errant thoughts about Armored Core 6

• Armored Core VI is a game about your 3-story steel monstrosity going very fast blowing stuff up. • Armored Core VI is a game about war in a capitalist dystopia where you rationalize the horror you participate in as just another job. • Armored Core VI is a game about cheesy 1-or-2-note characters who only show up on comms and never in person who you will genuinely cheer for, cry for, love & hate by the end. • Armored Core VI is a game about ramming your head against the same boss 15 times until you make a seemingly minor part swap that renders you an unstoppable god. • Armored Core VI is a game about creating emblems and paint jobs for hours to then see those emblems and paint jobs for only 5 minutes in a mission and get a huge dopamine response from it.

Armored Core VI is a game that is not for everyone, but for a certain type of person, it's game of the year. That person is apparently me.

In a year full of bangers, this one is the most video-game-ass videogame.

Hell yeah! I just spent my whole day playing remnant2 with a buddy of mine, it's incredible so far.

What class did you pick?

Avatar

I had started dabbling in single player as the Gunslinger and I found/unlocked the summoner on the way. Then a pal got the game and I started fresh with the Summoner class from the beginning for co-op.

I have been so utterly absorbed by Remnant 2 that I haven't drawn anything for a while. Rare type of game this is.

Various Thoughts About Pokémon Scarlet/Violet

Pokémon very much shaped my childhood, as it did many others, so I still find myself going back with each mainline release. I wanted to ramble to no one about S/V after playing it through. I do have good things to say, but I'll complain a bit first.

Each subsequent title has shown me new ways in which the Pokémon Company at large and Game Freak are kinda incompetent. A lot of the problems can be chalked up to a combination of 2 things:

1. Game Freak's failure to develop their 3d games with any amount of grace or knowhow (Look up some of the stuff modders have uncovered in their 3d releases and it's hilariously inefficient). Why they cannot produce an art direction that is low detail but beautiful is beyond me.

2. The Pokémon Company's rigid schedule, likely making it hell for Game Freak to actually learn or improve on anything.

S/V is a mess, performance wise. The Switch is an outdated console, but the fact that Breath of the Wild and Xenoblade can pull off (arguably) more beautiful open worlds with stable performance is shaming to the most profitable media franchise in the world.

Fucking - why do I STILL have to sit through the Confused animation, only for it to pause further and show the text box yet again telling me the pokemon is confused? Why does it have to do the same 2-step process of Animation -> Textbox every fucking turn??? Would it have been so hard to play the animation and show the text box telling me the pokemon is confused at the same time, and ONLY do that the first time? Just leave the birds over the pokemon's head until it snaps out of it. I don't need a dragging reminder every single turn. This same thing can be said for every battle/status effect, stop dragging things out! Just get a passive battle log you can scroll through.

Goddamn this world feels empty, why not have more interesting landmarks, stuff to see? Stuff to take pictures of with the camera feature? Make it a sidequest! Why are there close to zero non-trainer NPCs outside of towns? Tell me the lore of this random giant quarry! NAME YOUR REGIONS DAMNIT. WEST PROVINCE AREA 2????? FOR REAL?

On a more minor note, stop making champions punching bags.

I still have fun with these games I swear.

Pokemon designs are great as ever. Would have liked more options for ground types.

The music fucking slaps. Much improvement here over Sword/Shield. (actually that's most of the game)

They actually got someone to write this one too. I actually ended up caring about the "main" characters by the end. They were more than just one-note.

The Finale was, full-stop, the best of any Pokemon game. Genuinely extremely pleased and surprised by the entire sequence.

If they can refine this new open-world base they have built, and add voice acting damnit, the next games could very well be amazing.

I have to say, what a treat it is to see your art in the feed again 💖

Wish it wasn't caused by twitter burning down, but I'm thrilled to see you again ☺️

Hey thanks! It’s good to be back anyways. Tumblr has one of the best setups for posting media (while not being a gallery site at least). I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a sort of nostalgia for it.

Boy am I excited at the prospect of the possible return of Sheev “The Senate” Palpatine.
