Knowing now that Hobie is a teen and him being underage and having a lot of evidence for it, makes it so weird to see the smut fanart of him that people are drawing, like obviously they probably don’t know that he’s a teen and not an adult, but ugh I thought it was obvious because why would they insinuate that he has a crush on Gwen who is underage when apparently he’s an adult, like come on people you can’t just push away that evidence just cause you want to write and draw smut about him AND also hate a gay black relationship and saying it’s wrong because of the “age” when they are literally both minors. And those same people won’t even try to figure out his age just making assumptions that fit what they want.

That being said I do want to address the current issue we seem to be facing when it comes to Spider Punk / Hobie Brown is ATSV
So, one of the directors for ATSV has said at one point that Hobie is 19/20. We could definitely take this as a possible confirmation for his age, easy peasy- oh wait what? The other two directors say his age isn't confirmed or up to interpretation? It wouldn't make a lick of sense for them to age all the other spiders down but not age Hobie down? It would make the love triangle implications and all implications that happened with Gwen incredibly werid? The fact that people are insisting that he is 19/20 came from insisting that a ship of two black men, punkflower, was a proship? Punkflower has been around for years? In all crossovers involving Miles Morales and Spiderpunk he's been canonically 16 in the comics? They've been shipped together for a long time and the sudden backlash and search for Hobies age that started possibly based around backlash to punkflower seems at least a litto both racially and homophobically based (I'm not gonna lie here)?

I’m sorry it’s just really not fucking fair that In THE ACTUAL MOVIE it can imply something between Gwen and Hobie but the SECOND a people started shipping two black boys together then It became a huge fucking problem, here’s the thing If Hobie is actually older and they never say that in the movie but imply something to the audience that him and a sixteen year old girl could possibly have something between them THEN THATS GROSS I DONT CARE HOW GOOD THE MOVIE IS! But Hobie is always a teenager, in other crossovers and his comics he is around 16, he has met miles before in canon the ships not new it was just small, I hate that every single fandom I try to enjoy now has this fucking problem It’s totally okay if you don’t like a ship but just say you don’t vibe with it and move on for the love of god
