today has been a lot. And not in a good way. So I’m feeling pretty good about my decision to go to Montreal. If I can’t work joyfully then I’ll work for the money to do the things that bring me joy, which somehow, accidentally and despite all the reasons it shouldn’t, has ended up being all you lot.

For better or worse, this remains one of my happy places. And if it’s manifesting in Montreal. I’m gonna be there.

Are you going to the Ghent comic con? I'm not interested in the whole con scene, but *sigh*, Gillian...

I am not nonny. I made it to Chicago, and am glad I did, but I enjoyed it because of the other fans, the chance to visit and amazing city, and to meet the fandom people I met. The panel for me was honestly kinda a let down, I get acute second hand embarassment, and almost crawled under my seat at some of the questions/awkwardness. Also, although the signing stuff can be fun, it can be stressful and rushed and a bit artificial and while it’s perfect for some people, it’s just not an environment where I thrive. I feel like I got my fill of the con set-up, there, and having been lucky enough to get my speedo signed and then super lucky to get a chance to really talk to Gillian informally on another occasion, I can’t see myself travelling just for a con again any time soon. I feel like I’ve had my go and that’s okay.

That said, if there’s another Chicago (half the fandom showing up) or an event in London with a Q&A (especially one with a pre-approved question list) I’d definitely consider attending/hosting another bash, even if I skipped the signing/VIP malarkey. I’d rather spend my money travelling to see philey-friends than on standing in line for a terrifying photo op…

Really though I’m just hoping for some London theatre work from Ms Anderson, so I can admire her in her most beloved, and my longest-loved format.

I think perhaps that this is what death will be like. A long featureless road in the dead of night and a song playing that sounds familiar but you can't quite place. You move from darkness to light with a mesmeric certainty and all around the curves of the car reflect random landscapes at strange angles and maybe you've been here before, or maybe this was where you were supposed to end up but all that's left is pavement shine and bent light and the certainty that nothing is quite as tangible as it should be.

Every time I hit a follower milestone I'm like "amazing but why I literally just talk out my ass, post the odd story, make bad jokes and sometimes melt down" and then I remember that Chris Carter has been doing this exactly for as long as I've been alive and it made him a millionaire.

So now I feel valid. But also underpaid.

Someone pay me?

Also thanks yall 😊

I really hope I never get designated saviour of the human race in an apocalyptic scenario because honestly I’m way too tired to the save the world.

Like I just fought our way to this secure location and now you’re telling me that there’s a limited supply of air? Well I think maybe we should all just have a nap because then we’ll breathe less and tbh the radioactive ratmen are freaking me out and I just can’t right now, okay thanks, bye...

What I find so difficult about what Gillovny has become (as someone who once found a lot of possibly too much fun and joy in the idea) is that it so often minimises everything it touches down to this one issue.

David rocking the Kennedy centre solo is viewed through the lens of how Gillian might react or attend (?!). Gillian’s performance in American Gods is re-purposed to make it include a DD reaction and dirty joke. Orlando Jones blisteringly empowering speech about race takes a back seat to some trolling he thought might be amusing. Fans are no longer fans, they’re divided depending on their opinion on the matter.

Instead of being able to appreciate Gillian alone, David alone AND them together as friends/MuldsandScullz/whatever, the Gillovny factor is being forced into their individual accomplishments and reducing the conversation about these wonderful people to only them as they relate to each other.

It seems like we spend so much time looking for David in Gillian’s answers and vice versa that we forget to appreciate the rest of what they say. It just makes me kinda sad. Especially with TXF coming back and likely for the last time.

Are we going to enjoy the filming for what we get to see, appreciate their friendship, laugh at BTS silliness and revel in the end of an era, or is it going to be months of finding secret messages in tweets and analyzing body language in candids to try and prove a romance? I wasn’t here for S10. I’m excited that I get to be in the fandom during filming for the first time. But I’m also scared that the show I love and the people I idolize will be reduced to a proving ground for a romantic relationship I have no interest in. I’d find that hard to bear.

Hearing rumors that We is already out in some stores in the US. This is a little odd, isn't it?

Yes and no. Books are generally printed anywhere from 6 weeks to a week ahead of publication and publishers generally release the stock to the booksellers around a week ahead of release. Good form is to wait until pub date to put the books out BUT unless a title is embargoed (legally listed as not for sale before a certain date) then there is often slippage as booksellers battle full stock rooms, big deliveries etc. WE is not embargoed in the UK, and I haven’t found record of it being a controlled release in the USA so it seems likely that a few booksellers maybe just got a little overenthusiastic.

It is quite early for slippage though, I often find stuff out 2-3 days pre-pub but 8 days is a lot. Will be interesting to see if they vanish from shelves and reappear in a week, that will depend on author reaction and publisher reach.

Worth noting that the reason for controlled release/embargo is (unless it’s Harry Potter 7 and spoilers) to ensure the book the best possible run at bestsellerdom. By preventing a trickling through of early sales you ensure the best possible first week as all the pre-orders get added to copies purchased in stores. So, if you do see it out and can bear it, hold off buying your copy until pubdate (ask em to reserve it and they’ll even have to order a replacement in!) and help the book make a splash!

You also notice the stagefright at the end she's rushing off and hardly takes the applauds. That little quick look to the side almost a hint of a smile or something then she's off like a squirrel. She read so well she could afford to take those few seconds to take in how much they appreciated it. She's sweet, it's not weird but in a way new to see her this timid even if it's always there and she hides it well.

Pretty much my favourite thing about Gillian Fucking Anderson is the fact that she has, acknowledges, and works pasts her flaws. She’s self critical but not to the point of putting herself down, she acknowledges that she’s good at stuff but still works to be better at it. Honestly I find her humanity so damn inspiring. Because talent is impressive, success is intoxicating and fame is tempting, but to watch someone have those things and acknowledge that it’s imperfect, that hard work and sacrifice and some days just getting up in the morning or out on that stage is a far larger part than we ever see... that’s a human I wanna emulate. That’s an attitude I can understand and something I might actually be able to achieve...

Head to youtube and type in: Gillian Anderson- Golden Globes 2016. There's this red carpet thing and one of the photographers says "Miss. Anderson" and Gillian makes fun of his way of saying it and repeats his words in this silly teasing voice. I totslly missed this clip and I think not too many noticed it among all the others thst we viewed this spring when we posted things from the Globes. She often copies the way people say hi to her on panels too, did u notice? It's fun when she plays.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen video footage of this dress (just photos).  Unghhh, the boobs, the boobs!

OMG - yes she’s perfection but I can also see why she hates this shit. I hate hearing my name over and over and not just that but walking, looking flawless, having people ask for expression, for your focus, trying to make the dress look good, trying to make YOU look good, trying to appear to be having a good time, not going blind from the flash, not being pissed off when someone calls you “darling” who is NOT your darling...

Imagine not knowing how it’ll turn out, wondering if you’ll be on the best/worst dressed list/realising that people care more what you look like than why you’re there or what you have to say/wondering if after all this you’ll even make the edited article because there’s no guarantee.

And yes, I know that this is considered part of the service now. You want to make a living as an actor then this comes with the territory. But the actual process. Being in that moment, under that pressure, when you could be working on something tangible or with your family, where the gains are so negligible... yeah... that’s a lot

*bows to G for handling it graciously*
