The waves whispered tales ancient and new

All the lovely little things I love. You'll see a lot of My Little Pony, Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bears (all generations), and other things of that nature here.

Cedric: Greylock. Why are you here? I thought you were busy with research in Rudistan. Greylock: Ah ha! Well, here I am! Greylock: My, my, my, what a delight! I haven't chatted with you since our graduation from Hexley Hall. At that magical academy, you were especially brilliant, Goldbrick. Unlike the rest of the rabble! Cedric: .... Cedric: Greylock, you ought to be swamped, as royal sorcerer to King Magnus. Why are you here now? Greylock: I heard this rumor... They say there's this girl with a rare amulet. An amulet with the power to take over a kingdom. It's her, isn't it? Cedric: ... Cedric: Even if the princess had this amulet you're describing, do you think I'd divulge that information to you? Greylock: Oh, I don't. You're smart, but you were always sooo stubborn. You really should be more flexible! I've thought so since way back then.

I mentioned before that Cartos from Call the Name of the Night gave me a lot of Greylock vibes, but this whole scene between him and Rei feels very Greylock and Cedric to me, so I StF'd it up. The original panels are under the cut:

Elena of Avalor Was a MESS

A mess it may have been, but I loved it (and Sofia) anyway!

I don't agree with everything that was said (Ash remains my favorite Disney villain), but this is a really fun retrospective of the series.

You know I really like Negative Legend's videos about franchises that I haven't really watched very much or certain ones that I do know about and like, but their Sofia the first video sort of rubbed me the wrong way with a few of their opinions that I disagreed with, but this video oh boy I don't think I can watch too much of it because our opinions are just so wildly different from each other I think I'm just going to get too angry if I watched this in its entirety right now. I mean it's fine that they don't like the show’s ending and various elements of it, it's just so weird that everything that I like about this show seems to be everything that they dislike about this show? It's kind of baffling in a way.

They think it's weird that the show has so many Dia de Los Muertos episodes, I think that it's fantastic because they allow them to actually talk about death on a kids show and all of them are really cool and different from each other. They think that the direction they took with the Delgados in late season 2 was weird and that they should have continued on with the Shuriki arc, meanwhile I think that it was new and fresh and one of the coolest possible things they could have done. They like Esteban's redemption less than Cedric’s, but I think that while parts of it were rushed a Esteban's redemption was way more impactful and interesting than Cedric's was

(Not that Cedric's is bad by any stretch it was just not very dramatic? King Roland was never as angry at Cedric as he was disappointed, and literally no one other than him was even slightly annoyed by him after his whole "trying to take over the Kingdom" thing went public. And he forgives him after just one episode! Meanwhile in Elena of Avalor, it's a messy, emotionally complicated, fun, arc! Imagine if Sofia the first had the royal family still not trusting him and he had to have multiple episodes with different various family members to gain back their trust! And then in the process gaining their individual friendship! That would have been fantastic! Or an arc where he betrays them for several episodes but then does something so huge and so vastly heroic that they decide to give him a second chance but things can't go back to the way they were before, he may be accepted back into the fold but he's not royal wizard anymore, that'd be cool too!)

Also they claim that Sofia the First's premise is about “a blended family” which is the heart of the show (even though Miranda doesn't even get an episode directly dealing with her relationship with one of her stepchildren, instead of just her children as a collective, until season 4, and never gets an episode or plot with her and James). Meanwhile Elena's heart is that it's just about a “Latina Princess” instead of saying that maybe it's about, oh I don't know, "a young woman who went through a horrible tragedy in her life, her family and culture are torn apart due to horrible forces and people outside of her control. But now she's back and trying to rebuild her community, culture and her family." I don't know that premise certainly has a lot of heart I would say).

Disney banned an episode of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur called "The Gatekeeper," because of the current political climate in the US. So the episode is about Lunella's friend Brooklyn being targeted by the coach of a rival volleyball team, Greer, who found out she was trans and tried to stop her from playing. She even goes as far as to trap Brooklyn, Lunella and the others in the locker room, and will only let them out if they follow her "rules."

Brooklyn: "I'm trans, my very existence breaks Greer's rules, which means, as long as I'm a member of this team...we'll never escape..."

And they break out of the room specifically by breaking the rules. There's also an awesome video game-like scene where the team fights a monster-like version of Greer by throwing volleyballs at her, with streaks colored like the trans flag.

Brooklyn: "It doesn't matter how many doors people like you slam in my face. With my fight, plus my crew backing me up, I'm always gonna find my way out."

This episode is EXACTLY what trans kids need right now, but no, Disney was too spineless to air the episode. They can claim for the 69420th time that XYZ is their first gay character, they can sell rainbow Mickey Mouse pins, they can put up pride month collections on Disney+, but it's clear that they only "support" the LGBTQ+ community when it's profitable for them.

GUYS GUYS!!! Somebody shared this in a StF server I'm in!! Two posts from Craig Gerber himself that all but confirm Cedric is coming back in the new show (including the hashtag in the first one)!!!

We still don't know what role he'll play or if he'll be a main or recurring character, or even if his appearance is just a cameo, but STILL!! EXCITING!!!

As for the mystery fairy from StF, I'm guessing it might be Miss Nettle. Maybe she's a teacher at Charmswell, most like about magical plants! (And maybe her and Cedric will interact- whoever the fairy is, from the sound of the second post, it sounds like Cedric might interact with her in the same episode! But how neat would it be if Miss Nettle and Cedric interacted again for the first time since 'The Enchanted Feast'?)

GUYS, I AM SQUEALING. CEDRIC!!! IT'S HAPPENING!

The fairy could also be Chrysta, but I'd love to see Miss Nettle!

It's gotta be Miss Nettle!

m))) nice)))

i got worse at rendering after not doing it in a while! who could have guessed! for real though his half-finished no-reference shrek-green hands look better than his face because i didn't blend anything. i don't like how much time it takes, i'll be honest - i'll gladly stick to flat colors unless i find a quicker way

his facial structure isn't based off of a real three-dimensional head which is a mistake but your honor im in love with my august sketch i can't reference anything else 🥺

here it iss! my biggest drawing achievement i can't stop talking about, i really like how he turned out here and i try making my greylock look like this every time

so yeah redrawwwwww
