In 2k15 America, Black people now have to proactively and publicly declare for the record that we, like anyone else, would neither lynch ourselves nor commit suicide while in police custody.

This is (apparently) necessary now because if we are caught being human and - even once - state that we were even momentarily sad or depressed, that single statement alone can and will be used against us by corporate media and the police to blame us for our own murders…at the hands of the police.

(to hear all of these Black women’s voices and to watch their full videos, please go to the tumblr or twitter of youth activist/organizer, millennialau. see full videos here)

For real tumblr needs to stop being so fucking america-centric because this site only gives a shit about the usa when half of canada is literally on fire, greece still might be kicked out of the euro which would devestate the nation, theres war in the middle east that seems as though it will never end, austrailia and britain are run by satan incarnates, and thousands are still being persecuted for being lgbtqa+

Just because you dont live in a country, doesnt mean its problems dont deserve attention

Vigil for African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church Massacre in Charleston, SC. The mass shooting of nine innocent people in South Carolina has rocked the nation. This act of terrorism is being investigated as a racially motivated hate crime. Black Americans are being gunned down and murdered at an alarming rate.

10 Makeup Brands for People of Color

I wish I could say I achieved VIB status at Sephora by building the most perfect makeup collectionone could ever ask for, but alas—as a mixed-race, medium-toned Latinx, a lot of time and moneywas spent on buying lipstick that I’d only ever seen swatched on white women. Needless to say, theyeither washed me out or made me look like a fool, and that’s when I knew it was time to find somequality makeup brands aimed at people of color. So if you’re reading this, today is your lucky day, because I’m passing along some of my favorites so that you can save yourself from the heartbreak that is spending $22 on the wrong shade of Urban Decay.

Founded by none other than international model Iman, Iman Cosmetics is probably the most well-known makeup line intended for women of color. They have a really thorough way of finding the perfect makeup for your skin tone, and you can find their line in drugstores at affordable prices.

All of the makeup runs $15 and under—including their best-selling eyeshadow palettes. You’re welcome.

Speaking of affordable, COVERGIRL has a line specifically aimed at women with darker skin. You can mostly find it in Target, drugstore.com, and some Walmarts.

One of my personal favorites, Black Opal was created by people of color for people of color. Not only is the line affordable, but they have a “Find Your Shade” section similar to Iman Cosmetics’, as well as shaving products for men. It looks like they’re developing an affordable haircare line aimed at—you guessed it!—the haircare needs of people of color. As if all of this wasn’t cool enough, Black Opal also awards scholarships to young women.

Sacha carries some of the most extensive beauty products I’ve seen, and the prices range from below $10 to $50 depending on what you’re looking for. Their skincare products are also known for being long-lasting and weather-resistant, and their lipsticks have intense color payoff.

Although Colourpop isn’t exclusively aimed at people of color, I thought I’d include it because it’s one of my absolute favorite makeup brands. Not only are all of the lipsticks sold alongside matching lip liners, but most of them are swatched on both light and dark skin, and their color payoff is strong and long-lasting. There’s also about a million different shades of lipstick and eyeshadow you can try. The best part? Everything is cruelty-free and only $5.

On the higher end side of makeup, black|Up cosmetics was created specifically with Black and mixed women in mind. With over 18 shades of foundation, ultra-pigmented eyeshadows, and 30 shades of matte and glossy lipsticks, I can see why their prices rival Sephora’s.

Fashion Fair is another line with a wide range of beauty and skincare products for a variety of skin tones, although it was created with the needs of Black women in mind. Two of my favorite products are the oily and dry skin travel kits, perfect for when traveling on airplanes takes a toll on your skin. Their prices are also comparable to most of the brands sold at Sephora.

Cruelty-free, all-natural, hypo-allergenic, and non-comedogenic (meaning your skin won’t break out). They don’t have a lot of products listed on their site, but the ones they do have are magic.

I love the inspiration behind Hue Noir—the CEO, Paula Hayes, is a Black woman who worked as a product development chemist and loved makeup. After having difficulty finding makeup for darker skin tones, she established Hue Noir, a higher end makeup line that is also organic and biodegradable. You can save the environment and look hot af while doing so. Again, you’re welcome.

Please read this. It’s important.

I want to talk with you about an amazing campaign in Israel. It was created by Alex Fridman,  who has 100% disability. The campaign is named “נכה, לא חצי בן אדם” (In English: “Handicapped, Not half person”) and for now it’s Facebook page has more than 12,000 likes.

In Israel, the minimum wage is 4,650 shekels (= 1,202.11 dollars). Yet, the handicapped allowance for 100% disability is only 2,342 shekels (= 605.45 dollars). It’s impossible to live with that budget, especially for handicapped people who have to pay for special equipment as well.

The goal of the campaign is to raise the handicapped allowance to the same as the minimum wage.

This campaign is successful in the media, and many celebrities and politicians promoted the campaign and supported it. But that’s not enough. I know most of you aren’t from Israel but I do think that you can still influence and support this campaign.

“When I started the campaign in beginning of January I was naive, I thought that If My friends and I took pictures with sign ‘Handicapped, Not half person’, It would motivate the politicians to make a historical change. For 3 weeks not even one politician called, In those days I started to realize the apathy about the subject and that I’m going to hard and long struggle. I didn’t believe that after 2 months I would find myself speaking on a stage in Rabin square, I didn’t believe that I would run a Facebook page with almost 12,000 supporters, I didn’t believe that I would become regular guest in the Knesset Israel and partner in discussions about raising the handicapped allowance and to make it equal to the minimum wage, but all of this happens. because of you. because of your support, your belief, your tolerance. I know it’s hard for you. I know it’s impossible to live with allowance of 2,342 shekels, I know that you would want an immediate change and so do I. As you probably know and understand, I have a very severe disability, It’s not easy for me to run this fight, But I’m no longer naive. I’m strong. I’ll fight with all the strength with what I need, with who I need, and for all the time I need, Until we will make the necessary change! My amazing team and I keep working, to make small and big steps, and already see the light in the end of the tunnel. Keep support, keep writing to me, sharing posts, take pictures with signs, it’s very important. Only together we will make it!” -Alex Fridman (x)

(Note: please do not add any comments about politics, antisemitism or anything else involved hate. that’s not the purpose of the post, and if you thought it was then you obviously didn’t understand the meaning of this post).

What if male and female products aren’t the same

Even if they were, these people are basically saying “Women are too stupid to buy cheaper products”

and that’s really misogynistic.

It’s even more expensive in Australia, I paid $10 for a deodorant the other day. And yeah, that was the cheapest one. Don’t even get me started on pads and tampons … $15!! $15?! This is not a lifestyle choice, why am I being charged and taxed for these products!?
