Hewwo and thank you for sending in some questions, my friend!
Interesting Picks! Let's see...
6. What are you excited for?
I get easily excited for lots of things! I'm excited to upload a new chapter of my ongoing Bloodborne fanfic today. I'm excited to have a horror movie night today, and to get more writing in hopefully, and for a new haircut on Monday, and for the magnolias being in full bloom! There's a lot to be excited about ☺
55. Favorite type of fruit pie?
Strawberry pie! No wait, I actually have the recipe for the world's most amazing blueberry tarte! No wait, actually, I love mango and passion fruit cheesecake! There's some peach and apricot pies I love too, but I think those would be it.
67. Peanuts or Sunflower seeds?
For snacking? Peanuts. For baking? Sunflower seeds or poppy seeds.
91. Best room for a fireplace?
Central room of the house so everything gets warmed thoroughly.
9,20,55!
Hello there and thank you for the questions! Interesting picks 🤔
9. Is confidence cute?
Honestly? I have no idea. On myself, I like feeling confident because it feels nice and like I am in tune with myself and knowing my own skills (and limits).
20. Are you starting to realize anything?
I love this question. It's a very broad one. And yes! I think I am realizing a good chunk of things, but as for one thing I'm willing to share: Finding joy in the small things, just taking a look and seeing if there is something that makes you smile, can be a conscious choice and the more often you chose being kind to yourself, it will soon become easier. Or, in other words, if you see a horse while out and about, go take the moment to go "Horsie!!" bc that little bit of happiness is important.
50. Ever used a bow and arrow?
I have actually, and I enjoyed it every time! I've never used a modern bow, only reconstructions of medieval ones, but it's very fun. It's been a couple years since my last bout, I really should see that I do it again.
@thegallerypiece I'm tagging you in this because MY STICKERS ARRIVED AND THEY ARE AWESOME AAAAAHHHH

In other news, I have a Letterboxd now because I love giving my opinion on movies I have watched and finding new movies to watch
learning shorthand letters that only differ in whether they go left to right or right to left have to be some kind of miniboss
I've been thinking about Eternal Darkness again. I admire that game's ability to creep into your mind and stick there, much like the Eldritch knowledge it purports.
Specifically, I have been thinking about Mantorok. Mantorok, the living, writhing, thriving, thinking, scheming flesh. Mantorok, the rotting corpse god, festering, immobile, digesting itself. Mantorok, guiding, choosing, whispering, lending its magicks. Mantorok giving away its heart to truly create a living corpse goddess out of Ellia.
When Augustus allegedly bans Mantorok in place, Mantorok looks no different to the player before and after Augustus has cursed him. For the player, it makes no difference except for some random pillars piercing its flesh. We can't know if it truly makes a difference in-universe. Is this because Augustus can't actually do anything to Mantorok? Is it because Mantorok exists outside time and space, and when Augustus changed its status from free to unfree, it changed in all extant and non-extant timelines?
Mantorok as a god of fertility baffled me at first. How could this fleshy, consuming, cancerous growth be worshipped? Then I thought it over again.
And I realised something.
Mantorok is fertile in that it is fertile soil. It is growing, thriving, writhing, breathing, feeding and being fed; it feeds the lands and the people, and it is fed by them in turn. When things die, they rot. Their decomposing organic matter is food for scavengers and insects, and the rich soil they turn into is fertile ground for plants and growths. And then these growing things die again, become rot and compost and food again, nourishing new growths again.
Mantorok has, throughout the centuries, many chosen ones who keep dying. But their stories and knowledge - their deaths - get collected in the Tome of Eternal Darkness, nourishing and teaching their successor, making them stronger. Alex Roivas is the guardian who grew, like a plant, from the deaths of those who came before her. Mantorok acts as a sort of patron god, nourishing and supporting them in a way alien to us; but the whispers when the player uses Mantorok magicks is as unsettling as it is comforting.
Now, we know Mantorok orchestrated for Xel'lotath, Chattur'gha and Ulyaoth to die at each other's hand, leaving only Mantorok and that unnamed yellow Ancient (I've talked about them before here) left alive.
So... the god of fertility, the growing, rotting, festering, living flesh, now has the corpses of three dead Ancients at its disposal.
What's Mantorok going to grow in that soil?
Headsup: Ive seen Across the Spiderverse and was changed as a person. Tags for Spiderverse as a whole is "Spiderverse", with Across the Spiderverse spoiler tag being "atsv spoilers".
There also is that long due Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish spam, which I will change the tags to "Puss in Boots" and "Last Wish" for.
