This Is What The Universal Monster Reboots SHOULD Look Like !

In all honesty, I love the original Universal Monster movies, but I outlined in a previous post (seen here) why rebooting them wouldn't be such a terrible idea. With recent casting news being announced with names such as Johnny Depp, Tom Cruise and Angelina Jolie - and those castings going in the complete opposite direction that they should, I decided to list my personal choices for actors and directors that should be attached to the upcoming reboot.

The Invisible Man

The film needs to be funny, witty and quick, much like the original, so who better to do that than visionary director Edgar Wright. His fast paced writing and direction, seen in Shaun of The Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's End, would be a perfect fit. As for who would play the invisible man himself, it would be no other than Dan Stevens. His lanky tall figure accompanied by his poetic voice makes him the perfect casting choice.

Creature from the Black Lagoon

While the original costume was rather great, it is needing a little face lift. In this film it would be motion capture by none other than the legend Andy Serkis. The iconic damsel in distress this time is up and coming star, Brie Larson. These two stars will be following the direction of Matt Reeves because of his great direction to actors and motion capture, evident in Dawn of The Planet of The Apes. His use of practical sets is also particularly interesting to note.

Dracula

With long sweeping takes and a chilling tone, think about how amazing it would be if director Alejandro González Iñárritu took the reigns of fangface himself. His unique style and creativity seen in The Revenant and Birdman is like no other working director today. The horror icon himself being played by no other than Javier Bardem, his dark chilling performance seen in No Country for Old Men makes him perfect for The Count. Dark, gruesome and graphic, three things all Dracula movies need.

Bride of Frankenstein

Haunting voice, acting and just her face in general, Tilda Swinton would make the perfect bride to Frankenstein. Directing the film would be the Coen brothers bringing their artistic scripts and style, seen in Fargo and True Grit. Instead of the film focusing on mostly Frankenstein, much like the original, the film would feature mostly The Bride.

Frankenstein

His towering presence and strong voice makes Idris Elba perfect for the role of Frankenstein's monster, and not only would this propel diverse casting miles ahead, it would give Elba the push he desperately deserves. Directing the film would be the iconic Coen brothers, much like The Bride of Frankenstein, this is to keep a consistent style and storytelling between the two similar characters.

The Mummy

The only acceptable casting for this film is traditional Egyptian actor Amr Waked. His towering build and strong on screen presence makes him perfect for the role. Directing the film is Luc Besson due to his style and mastering the spectacle seen in The Fifth Element and Léon: The Professional. He has also worked with Waked before in Lucy.

The Wolf Man

Playing the haired monster is no other than the biggest star at the moment, Tom Hardy - perfect build and voice. Utilizing the best of the best practical effects at the moment to create the entire suit, the monster would be truly terrifying directed by David Fincher just to nail in the creepy vibe.

Monster Squad

C'mon you can't reboot the franchise and not include this film! While it would be less goofy that the original and would be filled with a Super 8 and The Goonies vibe, the film would be the finale to the franchise and bring all of the icons together. It would be directed by the king of ensembles, Joss Whedon. While it would be a task in itself to bring together all these stars it would result in an epic finale to the franchise, of course the title would have to be changed. Monster Squad is a title that could only exist in the 80's.
