'Star Wars: The Force Awakens Cast': What Are Their Next Movies?
Written by Creator Darragh O'Connor on Creators.co
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is finally on Blu-Ray and the thirst for Star Wars extras has been fulfilled (for now). With Episode 7, we got some fantastic new actors who have a very bright future ahead of them, including John Boyega and Domhnall Gleeson. Let's take a look at where we'll see these fresh faces in the future, because in about 4 years time, they will be household names.
John Boyega
Finn a.k.a John Boyega was my favorite of the new cast and that was before I saw what he's like in real life! Little did I know that he's actually hilarious. Between his dramatic antics on talk-shows and brilliant stories on how he had to keep his role a secret, this man will stay around in Hollywood.
John's next role, The Circle, is slated to be released this year. Also starring Tom Hanks and Emma Watson, this sci-fi follows the story of a woman who "lands a job at a powerful tech company called the Circle, where she becomes involved with a mysterious man." - IMDb.com. John Boyega plays a guy called Kalden and we don't have any pictures or trailers yet, but it sounds like it's going to be a good one!
Domhnall Gleeson
The second actor on this list is the Irish-born, Domhnall Gleeson. He had a fantastic 2015 where he starred in: The Revenant, Ex-Machina, Brooklyn and The Force Awakens. It sounds impossible to even match that kind of year, but Domhnall Gleeson is a guy we need to keep our eyes on, a real talent.
He has a romantic comedy coming out this year called Crash Pad where he stars alongside Nina Dobrev, Christina Applegate and Thomas Haden Church. Domhnall's character, Stensland falls an older woman, only to learn that she's married and that his relationship is merely an act of revenge against her husband. Sounds like we can get a new side to Domhnall in this one, maybe the hopeless romantic side of him that's waiting to come out!
He also has Mena coming out in 2017 starring alongside Hollwood legend, Tom Cruise and Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad). Domhnall isn't the main character in this one, but it sounds great nonetheless. It follows a pilot who "lands work for the CIA and as a drug runner in the south during the 1980s." (IMDb.com). This film is being directed by the great Doug Liman who has directed The Bourne movies and Tom Cruise's epic, Edge of Tomorrow.
Oscar Isaac
Oscar Isaac played the confident fighter pilot Poe in Star Wars: The Force Awakens but he also starred in Ex-Machina (with Domhnall Gleeson) last year, so you can say he had a good 2015 too. It was reported that he was originally going to be killed off in The Force Awakens until he sat and had a conversation with JJ Abrams which ultimately led to his character being kept alive. So along with Episode 8, Oscar Isaac has some other movies on his horizon too..
Aside from playing the villain in X-Men: Apocolypse, Oscar Isaac is starring the drama Suburbicon. This drama also stars Josh Brolin, Julianne Moore and Matt Damn. It's directed by the great George Clooney and so we're in store for a good movie with this one. The plot is as follows:
A crime mystery set in the quiet family town of Suburbicon during the 1950s, where the best and worst of humanity is hilariously reflected through the deeds of seemingly ordinary people. When a home invasion turns deadly, a picture-perfect family turns to blackmail, revenge and betrayal.
What do you think guys? Like the sound of Oscar Isaac's next big movie?
Harrison Ford
Han Solo himself is the cool of Star Wars and we sure are going to miss him. Thankfully we have Indiana Jones 5 coming out in 2019 that I'm stoked for! But that's a long while away, so what's out before then? Well we have a drama thriller called, Official Secrets.
Official Secrets is a "true story about a British whistleblower who leaked info to the press about illegal NSA spy operations designed to push the UN Security Council into sanctioning the 2003 invasion of Iraq." (IMDb.com). This film has a really impressive cast, that features Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer and Avengersstar, Paul Bettany. I'm totally in for this one, especially for Harrison Ford!
Adam Driver
Adam Driver is one of the most prospecting actors of the last few years and the man behind Kylo Ren's mask will definitely be a busy man once he's done with Star Wars. In the meantime, his film Paterson is done filming and a trailer should be dropping any day now. The film is about Adam Driver as a bus driver and a poet. That's all I know about the movie, aside from the fact that it's set in New Jersey. After that he's got Star Wars: Episode 7, which I know we all can't wait for!
Mark Hamill
The legendary Mark Hamill is a very busy man as he loves to work in all medias. He's starring in tons of projects coming out, but the one I'm most looking forward to is,The Killing Joke. The iconic Batman story being brought to life and animated with a R-Rating is a dream! Hamill has become the definite voice for the Joker and this very well could be his last outing as the Clown Prince of Crime!
As we all know, Hamill is also returning for the role of Luke Skywalker in 2017, but he's also lent his voice for the upcoming video game Squadron 42 (that also has Gary Oldman).
Lupita Nyong'o
Oscar winner Lupita (a.k.a Maz Kanata) has a very bright future ahead of her being one of the best young actors out there right now. She's got a nice film schedule ahead of her with the next film she's bringing out called Queen of Katwe. This film is slated for a 2016 release (expected September) and could be Oscar bait! Lupita plays a girl from Uganda as she trains to become a world chess champion! It also stars Interstellar star, David Oyelowo!
