Adventure Time: The Beauty of Limitlessness

Written by Creator Daniel Blick on Creators.co

Writer of the "Harry Potter" franchise, J.K. Rowling, once said that when writing for the fantasy genre it's paradoxically much more important deciding what your characters can't do, than deciding what they can. This helps ground the story in some level of relatability and makes sure there are still stakes to be had in a world where hypothetically anything can happen.

The same can be said for the animated genre, too. "The Simpsons" may have always revolved around wacky and crazy storylines, but at the end of the day Homer always returned home to his wife and three kids. This pattern can be found in more recent animated series too, for example the extremely popular "Bob's Burgers". This show also exhibits a pretty quirky tone, but at the same time finds itself grounded in a sub-urban setting, surrounding the pretty banal story of a middle-aged man trying to keep his business afloat whilst at the same time successfully raising his kids. Since it's inception, however, "Adventure Time" has been dancing to the tune of it's own drum.

Happy Buffday: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Turns 19

Written by Creator Tom Chapman

On March 10, 1997 a young Sarah Michelle Gellar entered our lives as the plucky high school rebel Buffy Summers and we immediately sank our teeth into the teenage-vamp hybrid. It dominated the weeknight viewing of my late 90s childhood... we even named our dog after it! But, 19 years later, how do we remember T.V.'s original vamp girl?

From day one we were completely hooked, watching for seven seasons and 144 episodes, slurping up the break-ups and make-ups that came with it. While there were the inevitable 'jump the shark' moments, and many seeing the final season and introduction of many slayers as exactly that. What we must never forget, is the golden era of Buffy. We were gifted episodes like "Hush" and "Once More, with Feeling". In many other shows an episode with 90% silence or a complete musical dedication would almost certainly flop, but for Buffy these were among its best.

It was amazing that show proved so popular, especially since the 1992 movie of the same name (yep, we remember it) ranks a measly 35% on Rotten Tomatoes. Buffy's ever stoic 'watcher' Giles was on hand to be the father that Buffy had, but was always strangely absent.

The number of people who've come up to me and thanked me because Buffy helped them through their teenage years, because it gave them a voice. I can't take the credit for that! But with Giles, he was so supportive.

Then there were the rest of the relationships themselves. The popular girl at school was Cordelia, the outcast bookish one was Willow, then there was Xander, the boy who never gets the girl. It also had varying LGBT issues at a time when they were still a little talked about taboo. Every teenage boy and girl could relate in some form to Buffy and her teenage angst, maybe not her demon boyfriend, but we will forget about that one. This wasn't any pre-watershed show, it dealt with death and delivered us shocking blows long before Game of Thrones twists hit us hard.

Buffy was never afraid to off an actor without a moment's hesitation. The critically acclaimed episode, "The Body", dealt with the passing of Joyce Summers, not only Buffy's mother, but her rock. What made the biggest impact, was that Joyce wasn't killed by a demon or bitten by one of Buffy's vampire lovers, she passed away from natural causes. The aftermath elevated Buffy from 'The Slayer' to the De facto mother of the Summers' household as well as saviour of the world.

From Supermoms to Cyborgs: 10 of Disney's Best and Most Underrated Quotes

1. "If... If is good" - Panic, Hercules (1997)

Disney is the master of arguments, humor, and inspirational monologues based entirely around syntax.

2. "Now you listen to me, James Hawkins. You got the makings of greatness in you, but you got to take the helm and chart your own course. Stick to it, no matter the squalls! And when the time comes you get the chance to really test the cut of your sails, and show what you're made of... well, I hope I'm there, catching some of the light coming off you that day." - John Silver, Treasure Planet (2002)

John Silver knows how to give a pep talk. For a cyborg pirate who's moral compass is more than a little off kilter.

3. "Have I ever been wrong? I mean when it was important!" - Scuttle, The Little Mermaid (1989)

Disney is not only amazing at syntax, but also at self-deprecating humor. Even the characters that aren't necessarily the brightest crayons in the box can pull this off.

4. "From failing, you learn. From success, not so much." -Aunt Billie, Meet The Robinsons (2007)

This line was delivered right after the rest of the family congratulated Lewis on his outstanding failure. I wish my family was that content with my failures. You hit the mailbox one time and they never let you live it down. 5. "Why are you threatened by anyone different than you?" - Tarzan, Tarzan (1999)

This entire movie dealt with issues of diversity and racism - err, speciesism? - and this one line kind of sums it all up. Actually, it sums up more than just this movie, but let's not talk politics here.

6. "First rule of leadership: everything is your fault." - Hopper, A Bug's Life (1998)

While this line was mostly meant to discredit Princess Atta, it is accurate and reflects strongly on our society as well as theirs.

7. "Isn't it rather dangerous to use one's entire vocabulary in a single sentence?" - Francis, Oliver and Company (1988)

Did I mention how well Disney handles their sass? No? Well for reference, rewatch every Disney movie ever.

8. "Sometimes you try your hardest, but things don't work out the way you want them to. Sometimes things have to change, and maybe sometimes they're for the better." - Nani, Lilo and Stitch (2002)

We all remember Lilo and Stitch for the Ohana quote, but we easily forget about the other moving and heart-shattering quotes from the movie.

9. "Leave the saving of the world to the men? I don't think so. I don't think so." - Elastigirl/Helen Parr, The Incredibles (2004)

While we're all too busy asking our significant others where our super suits are, we forget about the other great lines in this movie. Like Elastigirl's awesome feminist declaration right here.

10. "You are a scholar, are you not? Judging from your diminished physique and large forehead you are suited for nothing else." - Kida, Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001)

Kida tells it like it is. You'd think after living for nearly 9,000 years she'd learn a little respect and not be so blunt about it. Or maybe all the Atlanteans are so athletic, she's never seen an actual scholar before.

Master Of The Lords: Introducing An Epic '80s Cartoon-Inspired Comic

If you grew up a child of the '80s (and heck, even if you didn't), you remember the cartoons, the comics, and of course, the toys. The '80s were such a magical time, some (if not most) of those franchises are still alive and kicking today.

Doing some research I learned that most of these cartoons were made with the only purpose of selling toys, rather than being offended by this, I was inspired. Being a comic book writer I thought, what If I created a line of toys first, and then come up with a crazy story to tie the whole concept together?

I partnered with my friend (and comic artist) David Marquez to help me design the characters, their weapons, their vehicles, play sets and so on.

We came up with four different worlds, there is 'Dojoria' a world full of ninjas, 'Sangri-La' is inhabited by Barbarians, 'Mondo Extremo' is roamed by extreme sports mutant aficionados, and then there is 'Moondance', a planet where Dinosaurs wear astronaut suits, gold chains, and have an obsession with Hip Hop music.

All of these four worlds would be put to war by a blood thirsty God, who is really just a child from our dimension who has somehow learned to project himself into their worlds, appearing as a mighty deity. All we needed now was an epic '80s cartoon title, enter, MASTER OF THE LORDS.

Lastly, you can hear the three track mini soundtrack by ANCIENT ORDER OF THE DROIDS right here, we hope it takes you back to your magical childhood (again, even if you didn't grew up in the '80s).

Everyone's favorite man for Rory is coming back to Stars Hollow (hopefully to sweep her off her feet)! Milo Ventimiglia will be returning as Jess in the newGilmore Girls reboot currently being filmed for Netflix! Beyond Luke, Rory, and Lorelai, Jess was probably the most anticipated to return, and fans have been waiting with baited breath.

Tom Welling recently spoke to Buzzfeed about his 10 year-run experience as Clark Kent/Superman on Smallville. He seemed very grateful and proud of the current success of Arrow and The Flash on The CW. Smallville is the show that sowed the seeds for the explosion of superheroes TV shows that we know today.

Throughout the Harry Potter movies, Draco Malfoy (portrayed by Tom Felton) is a pure-blood loving bully. Harry and Draco are rivals on the Quidditch team and in real life. Draco is always making fun of Ron's poorness, Hermione's blood status, and Neville's incapability. He is not much more than a rival to Harry until the sixth book.

What makes a princess? Is it the dress? The tiara? The castle? Mulan, as we all know, was the brave woman who took her father's place in the Chinese Army, despite the penalty of death, and saved China. Soon after, she was added to the official Princess lineup, despite not being of royal blood or marrying a prince. Sure she's not the most poised or graceful out there. She makes mistakes and uses little cheats to help.

Everybody enjoys a special creepy and spooky atmosphere at this time of the year. The stores, the trick or treaters, the movies, the parties and, of course the costumes ! Nowadays, we dig into pop culture and horror movies to make our costumes but what about the beginning of the 20th century?
