You silenced your phone as it started ringing again. "You should turn that off. They can track the GPS chip in it," Milo suggested.

You looked down at your lap. You kind of liked having the knowledge that Steve was still trying to get a hold of you but you supposed your brother was right. Steve and Bucky would be looking for you and Bucky was very good at finding people. You called into your Voicemail box as it dinged with a new message. Steve begged you to return, calling you 'sweetheart' and asking you to let him fix it. You sighed and shook your head, hitting the buttons to record a new outgoing message. "I'm turning this phone off. If your best friend's heart is more important than mine and yours, then I know where I stand and that's far away from either of you. Congratulations, Army. You finally found an obstacle you can't overcome: the will of a woman who refuses to take a consolation prize." You accepted the change and immediately turned the phone off.

Two short knocks hit your door right at 7. You looked back at Wanda, Natasha and Milo before taking a deep breath and opening the door. Steve was wearing dark blue slacks and a white button-down half buttoned over a plain black tee. He looked you up and down, in a completely analytical way, and you looked down nervously. "It's too much, isn't it? The hair and the makeup." You tucked a curl behind your ear and rolled your eyes at yourself.

"No. You look gorgeous," he said, smiling. "That purple blouse looks amazing on you."

You bit your lip and nodded. "Thank you. You look..." You turned and grabbed your purse, kissing George's head and heading out the door. "Are we gonna take Wanda's-"

"Was gonna put you on the back of the bike, but I wouldn't want to mess up your hair." He walked down the hall, his arms folded neatly behind his back.

Civil Warriors- 1: Oversight

Author’s Note: Originally posted to ao3 (This is an edited and improved version) Part Three of the Red Queen Chronicles!

Summary: Cassie Campbell refuses to sign the Sokovia Accords, but it’s not about pride, it’s about right.

Word Count: 2643

Pairing(s): Clint Barton x OFC,

Chapter Warnings: tiny bit of angst and some good fluff, foreshadowing the badness

Cassie sat on the couch in her home in Seattle, drinking coffee and reading through the newspaper. "Did you see this, babe? The United Nations drafted up a law in response to the thing that happened in Nigeria."

"Yeah? What's the new law?" Clint called from the bedroom.

"It's pretty fucking oppressive, actually. Basically, superheroes have to answer to them. Go where they say, do what they want. They decide who our villains are and what is acceptable action against them. All known superheroes are expected to sign these Sokovia Accords."

"And if we don't?" Clint walked in, a piece of pizza in his hand. "If we decide to hero without the UN's consent?"

"If we hero, we end up the next ones on the arrest warrant, hunted down by the legit heroes."

Clint took a bite of the pizza and flopped down next to her. "Good thing we're retired."

Steve sat in a chair with a book in front of him. His eyes were not on the papers, though. His eyes were across the lounge area where y/n was sitting on a barstool pulled up to the counter, reading a magazine.

"Man, you're starin' at her, again." Sam said, clapping his hand on Steve's well-muscled shoulder.

Steve looked down at the book he was supposed to be reading, but he couldn't focus on the words, looking at y/n out of the corner of his eyes. He couldn't help it that his eyes always seemed to linger on her. Her face was magnetic. Her smile, addictive. He, honestly, couldn't fathom what was going through Bucky's mind when he left her lying alone in his bed, probably naked and-

Steve closed his eyes and shook his head. He didn't need to think of her like that. That's his best friend's best girl.

Summary: Cassie Campbell brings her teammates and friends together for her first ever Christmas dinner. 2 aliens, an atheist, her boyfriend's ex-wife, her ex-boyfriend and an all-American lab rat worried about her mental health. What could go wrong?

Word Count: 8148

Pairing(s): Phil Coulson x OFC (Past), Clint Barton x OFC,

Story Warnings: 18+, HERE BE SEX!!! DON’T READ IF YOU’RE A YOUNG’UN!!!, kitchen sex, protected vaginal sex, oral sex (fem rec), identity issues, panic attack,

"Because, Clint, I know that at least two of us, probably three, have never had a Christmas dinner and Wanda hasn't had one since she was orphaned. You guys are my family and I really want everyone here. I've got this big old house to myself and I don't want that on Christmas. I know Nat's not busy. You're retired. You can't say 'no'."

"What about Laur-"

"I asked Laura. She wanted nothing to do with it. Apparently, she and the kids don't leave the house much around Christmas just in case Barney comes home. I think that's probably a real depressing place to be if he doesn't show, so come to Washington. Spend Christmas with your girlfriend and your friends."

Static came through the phone as Clint sighed. "Who is gonna be there?"

"Well, Pepper confirmed for her and Tony, but I'm gonna double check with him. I think I've caught Thor's attention, or at least Heimdall's, so I'll hear from him soon. I sent Steve a paper invite via snail mail a week ago, so I'm gonna call to see if he got it. Wanda and Vision both confirmed and Sam said he has to see what's going on with his family, but he would probably stop by. I'm gonna call Phil after I get off with you, invite him and his people."

"You gonna have enough food for all those people?"

"I'm making a goose, a turkey, and a ham, three kinds of potatoes, four casseroles, homemade rolls, store-bought rolls, cranberry sauce from scratch and 6 different kinds of pie. I have a chart to make sure everything is ready at the same time. I got this. Now, I just need you."

"Oh, tug at my heartstrings. Fine. I confirm for me and Nat. See you on the 22nd, babe."

Bottle- 17: Goodbye Sokovia (FIN)

Author’s Note: Originally posted to ao3 (This is an edited and improved version), I work in info from the comics (Like Hawkeye was married to Mockingbird and Red Skull had a disappointing daughter) and I took a few liberties with what the scepter could do (but not really because the Mind Stone was used to create the Twins so what I did is not that far-fetched). This is a lot more angst than I realized when I wrote it, but it’s compelling angst.

Summary: Cassandra Campbell is a Stark Industries lab tech with dubious genetics and a history with the new Director of SHIELD. She’s been working in New York since right before the Chitauri invasion. What does she have to do with Loki, and what will happen when he returns? Starts post TDW and continues to the end of AoU.

Pairing(s): Phil Coulson x OFC (Past), Loki x OFC (Non-con), Clint Barton x OFC, Steve Rogers x OFC

Story Warnings: So many, worst (to me) are bolded. Younger woman/older man relationship,non-con, mutilation, torture, mind control, PTSD, depression, alcoholism, forced abortions, bad things (non-con) in a church, insomnia, memory manipulation, eventual consensual oral sex (female and male receiving),

Chapter Warnings: canon-compliant violence,

Cassie sat in a jump seat as they flew into Sokovia. Pietro stared down at her from the seat next to her. "You've really never killed anyone?"

A flash of a lab hit her brain, but she shook it off. "No. Never." The words came out with a slight accent.

"What are you called?" Pietro asked.

Cassie chuckled. "I've had many names. Vierhundert Zweiundfünfzig, Junior, Joanna, Cassie, Alex, Red Queen. 'Cassie' is my preference."

"Why do you speak with an accent when you talk to us, but not to the Avengers?" Wanda asked, from her seat on the other side of Cassie.

"Because you're in my head, I think. Because you can hear the truth of my thoughts, which are coming in more and more as German. Why do you think that is?"

"You have... hidden pieces that are starting to leak," Wanda said, staring uncomfortably into Cassie's eyes.

Cassie looked over at Tony as they started through security at NEXUS. "Thank you."

"What?"

"For bringing me. For not leaving me at the farm with... Nothing against her, a couple years ago I wanted what she has, but I can't... imagine just staying home and raising kids and helping with homework and..." She lost her direction as a guard ran a metal detector down her body. "The housewife thing, back when I was with Phil, that was the goal, but... it's-"

"Boring. So boring. I wouldn't want that for you. Actually, if you tried to choose that life now, Blondie, I'd tell Hydra where you are. That ain't you and I'd rather you become Junior again than go full Stepford," Tony said, crossing to the other side of security. "Steve shouldn't have tried to leave you behind. You're of better use in Korea. Of course, his bus was pretty full with your boyfriend and his girlfriend, you know."

"Nat isn't-"

"If you think they've never bumped uglies, you're deluded," Tony said, walking away as Cassie's face fell.

Cassie pulled the van into the parking lot of the Walmart and started at the building for a minute. "How is your first Avengers mission treating you, Joanna?" Loki's voice came from the passenger seat.

"You're not really there," she whispered, closing her eyes. She couldn't look at him, even a projection of him. After what she saw in Africa, she couldn't deal with that.

"True, but I am truly speaking to you. So easy to find when you open up your mind to me."

"I didn't do that. The witch did."

"Witch? I'll have to thank her, you've been practically begging to see me for hours."

Cassie shook her head. "No. This is not... I didn't call to you."

Loki laughed, a cruel sound that gripped her spine. "Joanna... it's perfectly understandable to miss me. With me, there is no doubt, just complete domination. You don't have to worry about who knows you're laying with whom. You don't have to worry about Stark's metal contraptions killing you. You just have to worry about me. And I was gentle last time."

"In Austria? Disguised as the priest who kept me from killing myself?"

Cassie woke up alone, but there was a note next to her head. Had to vacate. I made bacon and coffee. Call me when you wake up.

She smiled and dressed in a pair of jeans and a short-sleeved blue turtleneck. As she poured coffee into a travel mug, she put her cell on speaker and dialed Clint. "Good morning, Hawk."

"Not so much," came through the phone. "Uh, so, Natasha knows."

Cassie sat next to Clint on the floor around a coffee table with the rest of the Avengers and several 'friends'. The party had died down and they were having their last few beers and talking about Thor's hammer.

"But, it's a trick!" Clint exclaimed, twirling a drumstick between his fingers.

"Oh, no," Thor defended. "It's much more than that."

"Uh, 'Whosoever be he worthy shall haveth the power!" Clint teased. "Whatever, man! It's a trick."

"Well, please, be my guest." Thor gestured at the hammer.

"Really?"

"Yes. Go ahead."

Rhodey chuckled. "Oh, this is gonna be beautiful."

"Clint, you've had a tough week, we won't hold it against you if you can't get it up," Tony teased, prompting laughter from the others.

"You know I've seen this before, right?" Clint said, standing and walking over to the hammer. He put his drumsticks in his left hand and placed his right on the handle of the warhammer. "And I still don't know how you do it." He laughed, after failing.

"Smell the silent judgement?" Tony asked.

"Please, Stark, by all means," Clint challenged. Stark accepted, standing.

"Hey," Cassie said, walking into the lab to see Clint sitting up, Natasha standing next to him.

Clint smiled. "Hey. Wanna come feel my side? Doc says you can't even tell the difference."

She gave a nervous look to Natasha before shaking her head. "Maybe later. How you feel, though?"

"I'm not dead, so... no complaints."

"I have one. Why weren't you by the jet?" Black Widow snapped.

Cassie's stomach clenched at the sudden attack. "I had other orders."

Cassie rode the elevator down to level 69 and walked up to her door. She stood for several minutes, staring at the handle. "Would you like for me to open the door to your apartment, Miss Campbell?" Jarvis asked over an invisible speaker.

She took a deep breath, steadying her breathing like Clint had been preaching at her several hours before. "Yes, please, Jarvis. Thank you."

The door flung open, forcing her to move her feet forward and into the apartment. She took a moment to thoroughly check every room, closet and dark corner for signs of Loki, before sitting down on the couch and bendy down to take off her boots. She looked around. "I think I can do this." She laid back on the couch and closed her eyes. "No fighting my destiny. I can do this."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Wake up, Queenie," a soft voice whispered.
Cassie woke, peacefully opening her eyes. "What time is it?" she asked, sitting up and stretching her arms out above her head.
Clint smiled at her from his spot, sitting directly in front of her on her coffee table. "0600. I woulda let you sleep longer, but Jarvis swears you were in REM by 8 last night." He handed her a brown paper bag with savory smells that made her mouth water. "Breakfast burrito."
She tore into the bag, hunger hitting her hard. As she bit into the burrito, he cleared his throat. "So, I called Fury. You field-stripped your gun a little too well, ya know? So, apparently, 10 year old Junior was gonna be a soldier, whether her genetics said 'Super' or not. Fury said they washed it away. Made you forget."
Cassie sat in a plush recliner, looking at the handsome black man on the other side of the desk. She didn't know what to say. "Thanks for seeing me." She settled on after what seemed like hours. "I know it's short notice, but there's a lot going on and I don't know when else I'd be able to see you."
"It's not a problem, Miss Campbell." Andrew set a folder on his desk. It was a SHIELD file and Cassie knew it was hers. "I've read your file. I know everything that's been written about you, Cassie. Can I call you 'Cassie'?"
She nodded. "I prefer it."
"You don't have to hold back anything with me, Cassie. You understand? So why don't you tell me why you're here?"
She let out a long, slow breath. "I can't sleep. I can't think, most of the time. I'm afraid all of the time. I have horrible dreams... and I have some identity issues." Her tone said that was an understatement.
"Okay. So, what do you think is the cause of the problems? Why do you think you're here?"
She snorted. "Where do I start?"
"The beginning is usually a good place. Tell me about your childhood."
Cassie's dreams hadn't been what would be called 'pleasant' in a couple years, but her nightmares had steadily become more distressing. When she woke, she took a deep breath to steady her heart rate and it fell immediately. She rubbed at her eyes with the blanket and folded it, throwing it next to her jump seat.
"You okay?" Clint asked, from the pilot's seat. Natasha had traded for the seat beside him.
"I'm fine," Cassie said, her voice monotone as she stood to walk up between the two agents.
"Well, maybe this’ll cheer you up. Welcome home," Clint said, reaching over to flip several switches on the jet's console.
Cassie looked out at the New York skyline. Twinkling lights and skyscrapers greeted her as she looked out the front of the jet. Right in the middle of the picturesque landscape stood Stark Tower, the visual confirmation of Tony Stark's ego. She might have found it beautiful if it weren’t the building where Loki Laufeyson had turned her into a monster... twice. 'Home' was not the word she would use.
Cassie woke up in a bed in a medical room, Steve sitting beside her. She looked away from him, focusing on the beeping machine to her right. "You must think I'm crazy," she whispered.
Steve leaned forward. "No. Sad, lonely, but not crazy."
She still didn't turn to him, it was easier to talk this way. "That baby, the first one, Faye, she was everything I ever wanted. She was the culmination of all the goals I set for myself while I was in the Fridge. Get out, get a job, get married, have a baby. My grand plan. Nothing ever goes to plan." She shifted and stared at the ceiling above her, instead.
"I was trying to figure out a way to tell him when Phil got back from his mission. He started telling me all about this mission and this woman, this Audrey, and every time he talked about her his eyes would sparkle. I knew, knew he’d fallen for her. But Phil, he would never admit it. He doesn't break hearts.” She shook her head. “I made the decision that day. I hid the test, never told him. I wrote him a letter, gave him an out. If he had called me, if he had tried, I would've come back... but he was happy to be done with us. Audrey was better for him, anyway. He stopped loving me, and then Fury messed with his memories. He barely remembers me."
"He was here for two days, in this chair, until a young woman named Skye came to remind him he had an agency to run."
"Because he wanted answers, not because he feels anything for me. Or maybe he feels guilty. Either way..."
"I don't think it's that simple. But I know that you need to talk to him."
"He barely remembers me. I mean, the only difference is that he knows about Faye now."
"Well, he's still in the facility, if you change your mind." Steve stood, patting her hand. "I'm glad you're okay, Miss Campbell. I'll let the others know you're awake."
Hands
TITLE: Hands
AUTHOR: @crashdevlin
PAIRING: Clint Barton X Reader
RATING: Explicit
SUMMARY: Y/n was on the fast track to being a high-level SHIELD agent until Hydra came out of the woodwork. Three years later, she’s working for the Avengers. Written for @fandom-and-feminism and @fadingcoast‘s Marvel Smut Writing Challenge.
NOTES/WARNINGS: Genius!Reader, SHIELD Agent!Reader, brain damage, angst (cause of brain damage), self-worth issues (cause of brain damage), masturbation, elevator sex, oral sex (fem and male rec), a bit of dirty talk, unprotected sex, semi-public sex
PROMPT:  Character A speaks multiple languages and Character B thinks A can’t speak their language, until A reveals they have heard all the things B has said about them, and how bad B wants them.
The first time it happened was the first time he walked into the Avengers compound and saw you. Even from across the room, the very large room, even with your own eyes focused on Tony Stark (who was running down the specs of an Iron Man suit he was midway through creating in such a rapid fashion that you couldn't help but think he was trying to overwhelm you with tech talk) you could feel eyes on you. You maneuvered yourself so that you could see who was staring at you in the reflection of a high, tilted window over Tony's head.
You watched as Clint Barton grabbed Natasha Romanoff's attention and his hands flew into action. *Who is the new girl?*
Romanoff's hands are impossibly fast, so fast that you almost didn't catch her spelling your name out, alphabetically and following with *Ex-S-H-I-E-L-D, out of commission since S-H-I-E-L-D fell.*
*Operation or Technology?*
Natasha smirked as she made a 'V' with her right hand and slid it through the cup shape of her left hand. *Both.*
Clint's eyes went wide. *No shit?*
*Semester with Technology, summer with Operation. P-h-D in Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering. Highest mark given on my Operation course.*
*Shit.* He looked away from you and picked up his quiver from the ground. You had to read his lips for the next bit. "Too smart for an idiot like me."
Author’s Note: Originally posted to ao3 (This is an edited and improved version), I work in info from the comics (Like Hawkeye was married to Mockingbird and Red Skull had a disappointing daughter) and I took a few liberties with what the scepter could do (but not really because the Mind Stone was used to create the Twins so what I did is not that far-fetched). This is a lot more angst than I realized when I wrote it, but it’s compelling angst.
Summary: Cassandra Campbell is a Stark Industries lab tech with dubious genetics and a history with the new Director of SHIELD. She’s been working in New York since right before the Chitauri invasion. What does she have to do with Loki, and what will happen when he returns? Starts post TDW and continues to the end of AoU.
Cassie went through her closet, full of modest dresses and high-necked blouses, and picked out her most modest dress, a light brown 3/4 sleeve with a loose turtleneck. She put on opaque black tights and lined her eyes with brown liquid liner, and added a cream-colored eye shadow. Cassie added a wine-red lipstick to pop against the neutral color scheme. Looking in the mirror, she felt she looked gorgeous in a classical way.
At exactly 7:30, a knock came to her door. She opened it for Steve, who was dressed in slacks and a light blue button-up shirt. He offered her a bouquet of three deep-red Gerbera daisies with a smile. "You look beautiful. This look, it kinda reminds me of... girls from my day."
"Modesty works for both of us, then." She said, setting the flowers on the table next to the door and walking out. She closed the door and followed Steve to the elevator, where he pressed ‘L’. As the lift started moving she smiled to herself. “So, be honest, did you wait in the hall for a few minutes so you could knock exactly at the half hour?”
Steve chuckled. “No. I did wait in the lobby until 7:28, though.” He admitted.
