Oh, to be in love.

Not just the beginning of a relationship but months or years down the line. You’re comfortable with one another but there’s still a mystery and magic that has never left. Where you can share a space and not feel that it needs to be filled with crazy activities or by talking. It can be spent just in each other’s presence and feel just as wonderful.

The weather today was just lovely and as I was standing outside in the silence, only the sound of my feet in the snow and the occasional chirp of winter birds breaking that peace. It reminded me of a time when my family went out to our cabin during the winter, we had to shovel the driveway from the main road to our cabin and bring in our belongings on sleds, it was a lot of work but after it was so relaxing and peaceful, but as a child you don’t always appreciate that.

But I was lost in my head dreaming about doing it again with a romantic partner, driving up in the evening before it gets too dark, starting a fire first thing once we were inside. Making nachos for dinner and eating by the fire and roasting marshmallows for dessert. We’d bring down a mattress and blankets and sleep by the fire in each others arms.

I would have started making a loaf of bread before we fell asleep so in the morning we could enjoy the freshness of it with our coffee or tea and each other’s company, the smell of the baking mixing with the smell of the fire we had going during the night. We’d spend the day reading or working on puzzles, talking about the future and dreams we had as children. Baking brownies together in the kitchen, it would take far longer than necessary because we couldn’t stop smiling and kissing each other.

Maybe we’d get dressed up in all our snow gear and venture out for a walk in the (likely) waist deep snow, we’d take pictures of each other and of how the snow weighed down on the branches. We’d make a snowman and snow angels and write cheesy messages to each other in the snow. We’d enjoy the silence and peace that’s around us, a break from our busy lives and from a world that won’t stop screaming in your face.

At the end of the day we’d enjoy a quiet dinner by candle light, I imagine two large candle sticks on beautiful candleholders that’s my grandmother passed down. We’d enjoy a glass of wine from the bottle my grandfather had made with us in mind (he knows it’s my favourite, nothing compares to his home made wine), we’d curl back up by the fire and slowly drift off to sleep.

My mom and I went thrifting today and I found so so so many treasures and I wanted to share them with you!!!

Sorry it’s a lot of pictures, I got over excited and hung most up beforehand....

And I got a circular green table cloth that I’ll make into a skirt and a beautiful dark blue table cloth that I’ll make into decorative pillow cases and figure something else out!!

i’m making a cheesecake tonight! it’s for my birthday on wednesday!!

🎄 Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays 🎄

it’s been a lovely morning, i woke up without an alarm, came downstairs and had a fresh cinnamon bun and a mug of coffee with some Baileys in it, in the peace and quiet with my mom before the sun came up.

every year my mom and i make a bunch of cinnamon buns for Christmas morning and a friend of mine said that her tradition with her mom was to put Baileys in their coffee and it’s something we’ve never done but it added such a smooth taste to it, it was lovely!

to those who don’t celebrate christmas, something else or nothing at all, i really hope that your days are merry, bright and full of peace and cheer, i wish that the time you spend with those around you is pleasant (be that with your born family or those chosen)
