Almost like this was done of purpose to keep certain groups of ppl from voting
When Black people say that racism is systemic this is what we mean. By being over policed we are in constant danger of being disenfranchised.

It’s 4/20, which makes this the perfect time to reflect on how awful U.S. drug policy is.

I don’t want queer and trans folks serving openly in the military. I don’t want women subjected to the draft. I don’t want women receiving equally harsh prison sentences to men. These things may fit some minimal definition of “equality” but they’re not liberation and they’re not progress.
I want the dissolution of standing armies and an end to the economic hardships that force many to pursue military careers who wouldn’t if they had better options. I want an end to the nationalistic jingoism that promotes military ‘service’ as some high moral calling. I want an end to the aggressive imperialism that costs millions of innocent lives in the name of economic priorities. I want the abolition of the prison system and punitive legal systems.
I don’t want folks equally subjected to these harmful systems, I want the systems torn down so no one is subjected to them.
EXCEPT THIS ISNT JUST A FUNNY HAHA SILLY HEADLINE GUYS
this is really important and is a really great program that teaches skills to inmates and allows them to basically receive group therapy while they are simultaneously learning a craft
IT IS ALSO REALLY RADICAL BECAUSE IT BREAKS NOT ONLY THE STEREOTYPE THAT INMATES ARE INCAPABLE OF BEING DECENT HUMAN BEINGS WHO CAN TALK OUT THEIR ISSUES AND HEAL AND BE FUNCTIONING MEMBERS OF SOCIETY BUT IT ALSO SHOWS THAT TRADITIONALLY GENDERED HOBBIES LIKE KNITTING ARENT JUST “FOR WOMEN” AND ARE ENJOYABLE FOR EVERYONE.
here is an from the above article
They started by knitting comfort dolls, which they gave to children removed from their homes because of domestic issues. Then they moved on to hats for kids at the inner-city elementary school many of the prisoners attended, Zwerling says. “If you look at them, they’re covered with tattoos, they’re rough looking, and many of the young guys don’t have all their teeth,” she says. “But it doesn’t feel rough. They’re very respectful and grateful and very happy to knit.”
THEY KNIT COMFORT ITEMS FOR ABUSED KIDS. THEY KNIT HATS FOR INNER-CITY CHILDREN.
this is a good program and i really hope that people actually look into it rather than just posting the headline and a silly image attached ok

I like this a lot.
"The average prison sentence for men who kill their intimate partners is 2 to 6 years. Women who kill their partners are sentenced, on average, 15 to 17 years. A pair of Maryland cases vividly illustrates this inequality in sentencing. In one case, a judge in Baltimore County, Maryland sentenced Kenneth Peacock to 18 months for killing his unfaithful wife. The very next day, another judge in the same county sentenced Patricia Ann Hawkins to three years in prison for killing her abusive husband. Significantly, the prosecutor in the Peacock case requested a sentence twice as long as the one imposed, while the prosecutor in the Hawkins case requested one-third of the sentence imposed.” “As many as 90% of the women in prison today [2008] for killing men had been battered by those men.” ~ The Michigan Women’s Justice & Clemency Project
I’ve spent so much time and so have you And we could buy something nice together if you wanted to
Sometimes our black picket fence borders would look like prison cell bars, and we probably couldn’t see past the houses in our front yard
Some people slice diagonally through days, and scribble out all evidence of living It helps to forgive forgetting and it helps to forget forgiving
But I have nothing to forget or regret Just things I wish I could remember So I will be spending our unspent time here For the rest of my life In September
Kyle Anderson asks us to all stop being shocked when Chris Brown does something insensitive. Thoughts? (via entertainmentweekly)
You said: Because some of us have to deal with domestic violence in real life. Given that one in 4 women will experience assault by an intimate partner in their lifetimes…I think its valid to actually take it seriously.
I‘m pretty sick of people downplaying the seriousness of this. How this reflects upon his relationships is irrelevant, or at least much less so than what the statement and the subsequent defenses of domestic violence do to the people watching this rather putrid display at home. Girls and women learn that people are going to gladly look the other way, or joke about your predicament or worse, show support to the abuser. 4 women a day are killed from this sort of abuse. Its not an isolated incident, its not a casual thing that happens to random people. Its a social problem that deserves more respect than trivializing it in this manner.
Given the numbers on this are more frequent than anyone’s discussing, you never know how many people in the audience you’re talking to have survived this sort of violence or know someone who has.

What. The fuck. Did he do? And someone should beat that dude up.
(via freshoutoffucks)

I don’t know what “What. The fuck. Did he do? And someone should beat that dude up.” means/not sure if I agree with the second part but YES to everything else. Very well-said.
(via uhhhh you. What the fuck? Look! It’s doing it again. God, this app sucks!)
Why the fuck isn’t it putting the (via) on my reblog?
Oh, and that meant that I didn’t know what the fuck he did now. I found out though. And I totally agree with that last part as per my URL, no fucks are being given today or any other. No sympathy for men like that. Everything above the last block of text isn’t me. I’m not sure if it’s InvisibleLad or someone before him. I’m not Tumblr proficient, and the app sucks.

Oh okay
Well I don't think anyone should get beaten up. Ever. I mean, I love Batman and he uses violence when he has to, to get information, round up criminals etc.
But mostly he just wants to catch criminals and take them to prison, where he hopes Gotham will teach them and make them better people. The law system isn't perfect - especially in Gotham - but we have to do what's right. And that's the "justice" I care about.
We're all human beings, and "Whenever you feel like criticizing any one, just remember that all the people in this world haven’t had the advantages that you’ve had."
Chris Brown has made mistakes, and he needs to be helped to work through his issues. Maybe the only way he'll see sense is if he "gets a taste of his own medicine", but I don't think that's the way things should be done. I think people can change, learn from their mistakes, be educated to realise their ignorance. Beating him up may shock him into realising what he's done is wrong, but he probably knows it's wrong anyway. His problems are more deep-rooted and need to be looked into so he can get through them.
So.
Yes.
I give fucks.
I give lots of them.
Would be interested to know if you have any further thoughts though? I don't want to be a dick about it since a lot of people (including people I'm very close to) are more in line with your way of thinking.
“You know what’s wrong with you, Miss Whoever-you-are? You’re chicken, you’ve got no guts. You’re afraid to stick out your chin and say, “Okay, life’s a fact, people do fall in love, people do belong to each other, because that’s the only chance anybody’s got for real happiness.” You call yourself a free spirit, a “wild thing,” and you’re terrified somebody’s gonna stick you in a cage. Well baby, you’re already in that cage. You built it yourself. And it’s not bounded in the west by Tulip, Texas, or in the east by Somali-land. It’s wherever you go. Because no matter where you run, you just end up running into yourself.” - Paul Varjak in Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Sometimes it seems like we’re all living in some kind of prison. And the crime is how much we hate ourselves. It’s good to get really dressed up once in a while. And admit the truth: that when you really look closely? People are so strange and so complicated that they’re actually… beautiful. Possibly even me.
