I’m very on-the-ball when it comes to monitoring everything that’s sent to Jeff, and I can honestly say that he is not getting spammed 24/7 with Sterek-related tweets. In fact, I have to say the problem continues to be that no one is really tweeting him about Sterek at all. In the last 12 hours alone, only 12 tweets sent to Jeff have been Sterek-related (although there was one user who had a multi-tweet length Sterek musing, which I counted as 1). And to put that in perspective, he’s received about 30 tweets per hour in the last 12 hours (today is a slow day), which means out of about 360 tweets he’s received in the last 12 hours, only 12 of the tweets have been Sterek-related. 12 out of 360. That equals out to be about 3%.
I can safely say he is not being spammed by us.
For the most part, I think a lot of Sterek shippers are just assuming OTHER Sterek shippers are tweeting him for us. And even if you’re okay with just 3% of his mentions being Sterek-related, understand that of the measly 12 tweets sent to him in the last half-day, a lot of them just looked like this:
I know a lot of us are feeling good about how open he’s been with us, from the interviews to the tweets this week, and yes, I know he knows what Sterek is and how many people want it, but I’ve seen a tumblr post or two saying it’s now time for us to back down and let him do his job.
Guys, it’s a long, long road until the premiere of Season 3. Production doesn’t even start for another 3-4 months. It’s not the time to show him the amazing waning passion for Sterek. And no, it’s also not time to spam him with inane tweets asking if it’s coming. It’s time to continue to be in conversation with him, to be open with him, to be smart and polite and so damn passionately convincing that thinking of how badly this fandom wants Sterek just makes him smile. There is power through positive repetitive reinforcement.
Unless, of course, you’re okay just sitting back and letting these be sent to him:
I wish we were being relentless.
