A couple of folks reminded me that today is Fly Day Friday, so I dug up a lovely little bee-mimicing hoverfly for you all. This is Toxomerus geminatus on a Nipponanthemum flower. The Nipponanthemum shrub is the last thing to bloom in my yard each fall, in October, and as soon as the daisy-like flowers open, they are covered with hoverflies and other flies, as well as wasps, Lygus bugs, and other species that feast on the nectar.
