AW MAN THIS IS SUCH A GOOD ASK V but ik im gonna get flamed for this 😭😭😭
1. Azula
LISTEN. I STAN BAKUGO JUST AS MUCH AS THE NEXT PERSON BUT. but. i do genuinely think azula is equal to bakugo in terms of strategy and quick thinking. along with lightning bending and her ability to do damage even at a distance with minimal effort is astounding. azulas limit is her stamina (of which shes trained to have a LOT) while bakugo still worries about recoil. i also think azula as a firebender has the natural ability to be able to control the flames and combustion caused by katsukis explosions. —assuming no intervention battle to the death and no plot armor, azula wins
2. Deku
HEAR ME OUT. one for all just. absolutely SUCKS to go against as a firebender. shoot style especially. even without all the extra fun abilities for u manga readers, deku has the ability to exert enough force that he can create winds. zuko tries to firebend anything in his directions? deku can blow it right back to his face.
3. Toph
itll be CLOSE ill give u that. todoroki is probably one of the worst matches for toph by far due to the fact that he controls ice and if im not mistaken ice is kind of hard to hear vibrations through. however. toph doesnt really need to sense or see exactly where todoroki is at all times when his form of movement is LITERALLY erupting ice from the ground. I think that todorokis biggest weakness is his lack of mastery. toph has quite literally mastered her power to be precise enough to control metal at age 13—not even mentioning how powerful she gets post the period atla takes place. Shotos biggest move is creating a glacier strong enough to cover a stadium, yes, but toph has quite literally moved an entire palace. Not to mention Toph is literally strong enough to battle most professionals and element masters and was technically the strongest earthbender at age 13 while shouto is still a student, learning from multiple mentors after years of denying himself use of his full capabilities
4. Katara
like. ok i dont know too much about this one but. at best dabi can rapidly evaporate her ice walls and attacks. the problem is—Katara is literally strong and precise enough to freeze water vapor into ice shards to shoot back at Dabi. Dabi on the other hand has the disadvantage of fatigue from his quirk (which all emitter quirk users have iirc?) AND the fact that his quirk is horribly self destructive. katara can at least self heal.
