Taash has one that's literally just "Rub some dirt in it" meanwhile I've known Lucanis for two seconds and he's screaming "ROOK!!!" "HELP ROOK!!!" "ROOK I'M COMING!!!!!" "HOLD ON ROOK!!!!!!"

personally, if everyone wants to focus so intensely on companion romances and approach thinking about these games like they're dating sims this badly, I think Bioware should introduce MORE emotionally-motivated "unfair" hard lock-outs because that's how many dating sims work
I think I’ve reblogged this before with Thoughts but I have to actually give BioWare credit for locking me out of the Lucanis romance the first time I had no idea it was a thing, wasn’t even set on a romance yet, and it was such a fun piece of writing! It’s one of my favorite memories of my first playthrough. I actually do want them to do this more! I want the romances to be harder to unlock or qualify for I love complications. It’s what makes RPG’s fun and kudos to the writers for doing it.

my latest bone to pick with DAVG discourse is people whining about accents being changed/inconsistent. “Why aren’t the Dalish welsh anymore!!!” They had American accents in DAO you numpty!! Also the Dalish are not a monolith and a bunch of clans so it makes sense they wouldn’t have a universal accent!!
“Why isn’t there an Antivan accent for Rook!!” DA can’t even agree if Antivans are Spanish or Italian since in one canon they’ll be speaking Spanish but in the next sentence they’ll be using Italian terms!! Also Treviso is a merchant city so different accents make sense.
“Why don’t Nevarrans sound like Cassandra???” Because her VA made up the accent and the devs said it was unfair to make other VAs try to replicate it because they learned from the Tali problem in ME. Also, if you want a lore reason - Cassandra was nobility and nobility IRL had different accents than the common folks to mark them as different. + Cassandra basically spent 20 years in Orleais which living overseas have been proven to effect accents.

I’m just so tired of some of these complaints being regurgitated when they have been explained away or were present since the first 3 games. Like use your brain or you’re signaling to me you never really played DAO if you’re bitching about Dalish/elves no longer being welsh when they never were to begin with.
Hahaha no worries!! I’m pulling back but I don’t care if y’all keep me updated on the drama cause I’m nosy. Yeah check out this post for more coherent thoughts on why I think people are full of shit when they complain about this. It’s one of those things I think people do to find any excuse to get pissed at VG when they won’t use that same critique on older games.
Legitimately that’s how I’m approaching a lot of the “critique” right now. If it can be boiled down to “I don’t understand how video games work” or “I won’t use this against any of the other games” I’m just uh moving on hahaha.
Honestly what I’ve realized is I can yell into the void all I want but the people that need to hear it the most do not care if they’re going to complain about something so inane (and also lowkey really fucking funny to get scared and confused by different accents existing in a video game)

Since my PC is broken in a way that can't be fixed currently I'll have my father install windows on an old mac (because it's the only way to make those fucking things work, the one he has already fixed this way goes very fast!) to work which is great because it's clearly my main priority but I'm dying a bit inside because I miss so much game dev stuff and a Mac wouldn't be able to handle neither unity nor unreal so I'll have to wait 😭
I find it so funny, in light of TikTok’s imminent American demise, that even now they aren’t considering moving to tumblr. The last two social media refugee crises (Twitter -> X and whatever happened with Reddit) prompted a wave of wide-eyed new baffled tumblr users to flood this app and yet last I heard all of the tiktokers are flooding en-masse a Chinese social media app. That is entirely in Mandarin. Instead of moving to tumblr.
Like. People are learning mandarin to join this social media site. I’m not joking. There are tutorials going around to show people who don’t speak Mandarin how to sign up for this app. They’re all talking about how they’d rather learn a new language than join instagram reels and it is not a thought in ANYONE’S mind that tumblr is also potentially an option
To be clear im not mad about this. I’d rather see a generation of people learn a new language and engage in cross cultural connections than have a wave of tiktokers flood this app but I still think this whole thing is very funny
no because that is quite literally what is happening on Red Book right now like. All of the Chinese users went “hey why are there suddenly a gazillion Americans on here?” to which the Americans went “they’re banning TikTok and we’re moving out of spite” and the Chinese were like “oh cool send us pictures of your cats and help us with English homework and we’ll send you pictures of our cats and help you learn Mandarin” and as far as I can tell everyone is having a genuinely very nice time together.
What I’ve seen looks very promising! It’s a lot of Americans telling each other to behave and not fuck this up for everyone, plus cat pictures (I think cat pictures in exchange for asylum is becoming a meme over there)
