Ever since Doc got his revenge and got rid of the witch, all he ever wanted was to be with Wynonna. Even back in season one, when he denied to Waverly that he loved Wynonna, she saw right through him. All he really wanted was to run away and share a life with her. Be the kind of man that was worthy of her and her love. But back then, he definitely hadn’t made peace with all of his demons, and it wasn’t the right time. Along the way he made mistakes. Choices that seemed right at the time, but ended up regretting. But he never stopped being by her side, loving her, and dreaming of that future with her. He didn’t lie when he wrote “I’m all in”. Even after she shot a man in the back, he was still looking after her, even if from a distance.  And now that he has really let go of the past and he is “just” a man, he is ready to move on. He doesn’t want to waste the second chance he has been given.

And Wynonna at the time didn’t even take his words into consideration. No matter what she might have felt for him, love was the last thing on her mind. But now after everything they have been through, together and apart, after all the sacrificies she has made, the last thing she wants is not having him in her life. And in her heart she wants nothing more than to say yes and go with him. As much as being the heir gave her purpose and a family, it brought also so much pain and loss. And seeing everyone moving on and find some sort of peace, deep down she wants the same. She is ready to let go, and move on. The only thing stopping her is her love for Waverly and her sense of resposability. God bless Waverly for finally showing her that she is not alone and she is allowed to go and trying to find her own happiness and be free.

Purgatory and the Homestead will always be their home, but now they are both ready for each other and a for new beginning that starts with them running off towards their daughter and a future full of possibilities.
