I almost forgot to post this but Blitz getting gifts from Stolas because I require fluff to survive.
Letter transcription under cut:
I know we're all focused on the growth that needs to happen for Stolitz to become healthy and get properly together, but I keep seeing people totally dismiss any character growth so far and I think we should take a minute to appreciate that.
Blitzø:
Overall, he's acting more invested in improving the relationships he cares about and has stopped running away and holding certain people at arm's length.
Stolas:
Overall Stolas is learning to walk the tightrope between being completely self negating (his life with Stella) and completely selfish (his initial behavior with Blitzø) and is starting to find a balance. He's also taken accountability for the flaws he's been able to recognize and has changed his behaviour and tried to make up for them.
Like obviously we're nowhere close to being done the show, and both characters still have some growing to do, but the characters have already come a long way from episode one, and I wish it was acknowledged a bit more by the fandom
since there are many antis and criticals in the main tag pointing out the characters' mistakes but somehow thinking that it was not intentional and still calling it bad writing, i felt the need to do this:
So here it is!!! My Helluva Boss mini-comic! Finally!! After two weeks of work
Enjoy it, hopefully I’ll be working on a new one these days
Damn it Blitzø! Talk to him already!
I think Blitz would advise, "Don't fall in love, kids. Do drugs." Please don't listen.
I've most likely covered this in the 'both sides fucked up' post I've made before but I want to challenge the claim more head on this time.
Like Stolas is a character with multiple flaws that he needs to work on and has been brought to the forefront quite a bit, a few examples of these are the alcoholism (rehab has been stated to exist in hell twice now, so that's most likely gonna become a plot point at some point in the show), the subconscious racism/classism (the harvest moon festival is a major example of that), we know Blitz is in the right when he calls Stolas out for it in apology tour in the first few minutes of the episode because that's literally the point, how is Stolas supposed to just magically undo 25 years of the learned racism/classism starting from as early as we know, 10 years old, that shit takes time, Stolas is not at that point where he's self aware enough to realise how much he hurt Blitz with those behaviours, with the self aware part being stated in the description of the apology tour video. They explicitly brought attention to Stolas' flaws regarding the racism/classism thing so it'd be shit writing for Vivzie to not bring it attention again in the near future, they've established it as a flaw Stolas has so he's gonna have to learn to undo that during the show.
Also, in the trailer there's a line that very much tells us that Stolas is gonna have to face and learn from his problems face on. 'You never loved mother, and you don't love me, you love him.' The wording on it makes it very clear it's being spoken to Stolas, and as much as Stolas tries to give Octavia a normal life as Stolas loves Octavia so much, it just gave Octavia all the reason to believe that Stolas never loved Stella and her, because all Octavia knows up at this point is that Stolas cheated on Stella with a to her, random imp, which in her viewpoint, would confirm that the love was never there for Stella and her, leading to her villainising Stolas because of it. Octavia knows none of the abuse Stella inflicted upon Stolas. Plus, as much as Stolas tries to be an active part of Octavia's life as a father, he still fails at it. The main proof of this being in seeing stars, the phone call where Stolas was getting really intense arguing with Stella, pushing Octavia to the sideline as a result. 'Why does he hate her more than he loves me.' This scene just shows truly how Octavia feels about Stolas right now, and it plays in perfectly to the line in the trailer, so while that scene does show Octavia that Stolas does care about him, she still doesn't really sense much of the love Stolas has for Octavia, with most of it in Octavia's prespective getting replaced by Stolas being forgetful about her needs and such, instead getting caught up in his own problems too much to tend to Octavia's needs, which deeply hurts Octavia inside. Just like Loona said, Stolas just messes up, Octavia can't really see that a whole lot yet however. 'You know I haven't taught you spells like this yet.' This line just really shows that Stolas keeps getting caught up in his own things that again, Octavia's needs get put on the sideline or just forgotten about until it's too late, which hurts her deeply. It shows that the things that Octavia should've been taught at that point hasn't been taught to her yet for that reason, the arrangement with Blitz and the messy divorce to be specific.
These two reasons are proof that the argument that they're gonna keep coddling Stolas and that he's not gonna learn from his character flaws and just stay the same way he is currently, is entirely bullshit.
I wrote much more about that than I expected, man I take helluva boss much more seriously than I thought, guess it just resonates with me.

I wasn't sure to post this drawing because I don't really use tumblr but I love them so much...
Try not to forget to post your art on tumblr challenge (ALMOST FAILED)
everyone saying “oh we didn’t get the reconciliation we wanted” but honestly i did not want stolas and blitzø to immediately get back together and fix all there issues. they need to be broken up, not forever but for them to ever for a happy Stolas needs to learn who he is on his own (w/o blitzø, stella, or his father) aka have his baby gay phase, and blitzø needs to fix the other relationships in his life ( ie. M&M, Loona, verosika). I think once they both have time apart and are able to do these things they can reconcile and form a way heathery relationship
It's hard for me to express how much I love the recent scene with verosika. She could have easily given blitz "the answer" and not allow him to organically stumble into it with actual growth. Had she done so his relationship with Stolas likely would have been permanently ended, as any gesture would have been fake, and pretending to any level would destroy Stolas.
She could have also EASILY said that Stolas is better off without him. At this point in time they are better off without each other.
But she didn't say that either. Instead, she pointed out that Stolas needed to explore himself. She didn't even say this in a way that would intentionally hurt blitz.
In doing so she has basically given blitz all the pieces to put together the idea that if he wants stolas to "choose" him, (you can argue whether or not he had by now), Stolas needs to know he has options. Agency in his choices, that he can have closeness he seeks in others.
And I think that is exactly what will happen during their time apart. Regardless of how far Stolas goes with this guy (or potentially others), any amount of exploration I feel will result in the same outcome. Recognizing he can experience genuine happiness without blitz, but will ultimately still *want* to be with blitz. I'm really hoping both of these bafoons reflect on their actions so the next time spent together it's genuine without masking for each other.
Enjoy some Blitz angst courtesy of me listening to The Mountain Goats a lot this week. I think these lyrics capture really powerfully the way it feels to want to reach out but have no idea where to start, especially when dealing with trauma and self-hatred.
When I try to open up to you, I get completely lost Houses swallowed by the earth, windows thick with frost And I reach deep down within, but the pathways twist and turn And there's no light anywhere, and nothing left to burn
And I am this great, unstable mass of blood and foam And no emotion that's worth having could call my heart its home My heart's an autoclave (x)
(For anyone who can't access the video, the song is called "Autoclave," by the Mountain Goats)
i feel like a lot of people are focusing too much on that first scene
and not focusing on this part of the middle of the ep
i'm not saying that we can't point out stolas' mistakes, but we should also consider that he is reflecting his actions and willing to learn
"Stolas made the deal all about sex."
Oh boy, I do wonder where in hell he got that idea from... It's almost like Blitz literally fake flirted with Stolas as a distraction and gave in to having pitty sex with him after literally breaking into Stolas' house and succeeding in stealing said book the deal is about when he skedaddled without a word the morning after.
I mean, not to say Stolas isn't also to blame for it, because he is. All I'm saying is that he didn't magically pull that idea out of thin air, it's made extremely obvious how it all escalated. I will die on the hill that they both share blame for what their deal turned into, and I have no energy for hearing other people's opinions on it, because I've heard enough "criticism" on this topic already.
guys calm the fuck down and think. Why would this random guy be endgame for Stolas? How is he any threat to Stolitz at all?? He's just a chill guy who wanted to dance with Stolas at a party and god knows Stolas needed it.
Literally in THIS episode Stolas said he "still wants" Blitzø and in the beginning scene Stolas said he didn't want to "do words" with Blitzø FOR NOW (which is fair).
Even while being piss drunk, Stolas still looked to Blitzø for permission and some sort of closure to this back and forth thing they've had going from Full Moon (blitzø constantly prodding Stolas to either fight with or fuck him). Right now, Blitzø and Stolas have BOTH poured their hearts out, there is nothing urgent willing them together for the (however short) time being, It's just...calm, something that BOTH of them need. It's nice that, despite being jealous, Blitzø can see that (2nd image + Verosika knocking some sense into him). ALSO about the second image, if you go to the timestamp in which Blitzø says "Yeah, well he needs it" (19:03) he like laughs affectionately a little after seeing Stolas dance like HELLO??? MY GOOD SIR????
ANYWAY, there is still hope for Stolitz. A lot more than in Full Moon. Let Stolas experience the teenage years he missed because of his arranged marriage and have a rebound . Let Blitzø gain maturity about his problems WITHOUT using sex as an escape for his problems. Guys, we're at a GOOD place as far at Stolitz in concerned.
After the song "ALL 2 U" , honestly I think Stolas is in a good place (recognising and not tolerating Blitzø's bad behaviour/forcing blitzø to come to terms with it + recognising HIS role in not reading Blitzø properly and maybe having misstepped along the way). Now we need to refocus on Blitzø issues and he needs to take steps to BE the person that Stolas wants him to be and i have a feeling that he will do just that....
