So! I am here, very lost as to how to figure out who to follow on the winterhawk side of tumblr. And I was wondering if perhaps you had any blog recs? No pressure, ofc, but I'd appreciate some guidance if you have the energy! Multifandom and multi-shipping is amazing as well :)

1. Which of your fics would you keep the basic plot of but rewrite completely?
I don't think there are any? I tend to just abandon works that I can't get how I want them, so most of my fics on AO3 I'm happy with (apart from one, but I don't care about that one at all so...)
15. What’s your favourite plotless fic you have written?
Umm... Glory and Gore Go Hand in Hand? Maybe? Or The Violet Hour? I'm not sure. I guess it depends on how you define plotless. Plot (or at least backstory) creeps into basically all my stories, mostly without me intending it.

Okay this is where I learn that all my opening sentences are kinda boring. But I have three current projects (and one unposted one) so I'll give you the one with the most interesting opening lines (a low bar xD). It's from a prequel/sequel to my fic Brick by Brick which is happening slowly slowly because I want to get it right.
There’s a beat of silence after the door closes.
“She… is not what I expected,” Bucky says eventually.
You had to know I was going to ask about ‘A safety in the end’ right?? Right!
So let’s say… 1 year in the future after the christening of the bed, where are they now?

Well actually, I do have an idea for another installment of that fic slowly marinading in my head, though it happens a little earlier than one year after that last installment (spoiler: it's Wanda and Viz's wedding). But one year after the christening of the bed?
Well, Bucky's growing his hair out again, because Clint is very vocal about how much he loves it, and there is a very good chance that Natasha has been followed home on multiple occasions by a black cat that she is totally not adopting Clint but she totally does eventually adopt him and it's the start of them getting All The Pets. I also think that by now, they've organised one night a week where they make an effort to have a Date Night, because otherwise there's too much of a danger of their schedules just not matching up at all, especially since Clint works so many evenings and weekends. But mostly... they're just living happily in Brooklyn, cooking for each other and picking up each other's dry cleaning (okay, Clint has no dry cleaning lbr but the thought counts) and tripping over each other's shoes and just generally being happy and in love. It's not... exciting. It's just comfortable. :)

Basically it’s a sequel to Wake Up Call, set about a year later. Clint has been the go-guy for Bucky when he wants non-silicone dick and Bucky AND Nat’s go-to guy for threesomes for a while now and dun dun dun someone has caught feelings!
It’s Bucky. Bucky has caught feelings. Cue lots of conversations with Natasha. Conversations such as “Apparently I’m poly” and also “I’m jealous of his dog, Nat.” There will be pining! (From Bucky) There will be low self esteem! (From Clint) There will be earnest conversation! (Initiated by Natasha) And then everything will be alright because despite being a massive slag, Clint wants CUDDLES and AFFECTION and A HOME. And Bucky and Natasha will be the ones to give those to him. Obviously.

so FIRST OF ALL I opened your AO3 to discover there’s a bunch of new fics I HAVE NOT READ which should be impossible because I am SUBSCRIBED so obviously my email is being rude AF.
So of the recent fics I have read, it can come as zero surprise that my favorite is Unburdened and Becoming, which you wrote for me which means it’s perfect in every single way and I will not be taking questions. It feels like an end to the series (which makes me sad) but such a good, happy end where everyone is just... so happy with their life choices and how they are choosing to navigate their relationship and also HOLY SHIT THAT BODY SUIT and HOLY SHIT THAT BED CHRISTENING so there’s also that aspect. I salute you and your ability to write hot as fuck winterwidowhawk and really believable polyamory that I can get emotionally invested in!!!!

Oh man I really had to think what meme this was even from because I think you’re the first to ask?? Anyway, I found it! So..
9. Which character(s) do you find most difficult to write?
Steve and Tony. Like, I don’t write much Tony. It was a revelation of about two days ago when I realised that I didn’t actually like Tony Stark all that much and it’s the fault of fandom. Not like Loki stans being insufferable or Darcy fans turning her into someone else entirely. More like, at least 50% of Tony Stark’s character comes from RDJs face and what it does when he’s speaking, while the other 50% come from the script. Most fanfic writers (myself included) can do the script part, but can’t convey what RDJ does with his face, so we end up with fanon Tony being sort of... two dimensional? And then it goes on and on and I end up not caring for Tony Stark as a result. Which is unfair because he’s fascinating. Anyway, that’s an aside to say Tony is really hard. Steve is... slightly less hard but still pretty fucking hard. Morally Good But Flawed is a very difficult type of character to write without them becoming either Boring or Sanctimonious or Righteous. Actually... you know who else? Bruce. But I think almost everyone sucks at writing Bruce apart from Joss Whedon and Nonymous so...
12. Tell us about a WIP you’re excited about.
I have none. My brain is mush. I have no current WIPs and no ideas I’m excited about. I had a run of deadlines and Christmas and work and *waves hand vaguely at everything* and my brain is just done. It’s sad, but I’m fairly sure something will turn up eventually.
18. Wildest fic you’ve ever written?
In terms of smut? Improper Fractions and Prime. But really, I think it’s Little Beast. That story popped into my head one day, I wrote the entire thing, and then I stared at my laptop going what the fuck is that and where did it come from?

Right. RIGHT. So.
CB, please meet the bane of my existence.
The Only Sentimental Thing I Could Think Of is a fic I started writing in February 2015 for @lostemotion. It was based in part on a video going around tumblr at the time of some fancy archer doing fancy archer things. I dunno where that video went. It is a story about Clint Barton, his love for the Lord of the Rings and Errol Flynn, his shitty time in the army, and how he’s recruited to SHIELD. And all that sounds VERY REASONABLE, right? VERY.
But no. No no no. Because past!me decided that writing it in some weird ass style, with some weird ass tone, was totally the way to go, and then I added real-world wars - which were REALLY DEPRESSING - into the mix, and buckets of angst, and the last time I added anything to this doc was 2018 and sometimes I just stare at it, hoping inspiration will strike because I love the premise so much but THAT FUCKING STYLE GOD WHY
His father taught him about pain, his foster families taught him about pain, Buck and French Jack and fucking Barney taught him about pain. He’s hit the target with broken fingers, fractured ribs, his eyes swollen almost shut.
The army can teach him a lot of things, but it can’t teach him anything he doesn’t already know about pain.
So he grins and he keeps hitting the target, and eventually everyone hates him because he’s young and almost impossible to intimidate and a better sniper than even the instructors.
I really, really like this story, and it’s like staring at a blank wall. But ONE DAY I will finish it. @lostemotion, I promise this will get to you at some point.

6) If you had to delete one of your stories and never speak of it again, which would it be and why?
Oh I definitely know what I’d delete. It was this comment fic thing that I was writing for someone, and I couldn’t think of a premise, but then I did, unexpectedly, on a walk home. And it was brilliant in my head – amazing, wonderful etc. etc. – and based half on this comic I’d been reading called Morning Glories. And then I tried to write it and it was just… urgh, the worst. But I couldn’t think of anything else to write, so I posted it. And it was just… so bad. And the person it was for was such an awesome writer I’ve felt embarrassed by that fic ever since.

16: do you ever hand write? why or why not?
I did, for a bit, primarily because I had a boring job with no computer access and needed a way to fill my time. And sometimes I do in summer, because I can’t really use my laptop outside but I want to sit in the sun. But usually no, because typing it up again is so boring.
24: do you outline?
Only when I’m very stuck. Most of the time I keep the outline in my head. If I actually outline a fic, I feel compelled to stick to the outline and that rarely pans out.
28: any scene/line you wrote that you didn’t expect to write/that surprised you once it was written?
I feel the entire fic Little Beast can be used here. Nothing about that fic was expected. Literally nothing. And I love it.

10. Is there a fandom you read fic from but don’t write in?
Yup. Captive Prince, though it’s tailed off a little now as really good new content is predominately limited to the Big Bang and whenever @exyking decides to post.
27. What do you hate more: Coming up with titles or writing summaries?
COMING UP WITH SUMMARIES. Like, you have no idea. I hated it for my dissertations, I hated it for papers I was writing, I hate it for fic. For fic, because I can get away with it, I mostly just quote bits tbh, because summaries? Are fucking hard. Titles tend to just be whatever I was listening to at the time, and if not that, just something generic. I rarely have trouble with titles.
46. If someone was to read one of your fanfics, which fic would you recommend to them and why?
Ooooh that’s an interesting question. Obviously first it would depend on what they were into, because if they didn’t like [insert thing here] I obvs wouldn’t rec it to them. So I’m gonna cheat and split this into three.
For Clint/Nat (which is the cast majority of my fics) I think I would rec a shorter story because… we’ll to be completely honest, it’s because I think it’s probably the best thing I’ve ever written. I like the world building, I like that I hit the correct level of Show Not Tell in it, I like the stylistic choices I made for it and I’m just really, really proud of that fic in general.
For Clint/Nat/Bucky (MY KRYPTONITE) I’d probably rec - UGH this is so hard. Move Dust Through the Light I think??? Because I managed to say everything I wanted to say in that one story (we’re ignoring that I clearly didn’t, judging by the sequel I wrote later and the sequel I’m planning now) and because I took a well used trope (musician AU) and did something a little different with it and it worked (imo). BUT I ALSO ADORE MY NEVER ENDING THREESOMEFIC VERSE.
And for a gen fic I’d pick Little Beast because it’s literally the only story of mine I contemplate getting published. And also because it’s genfic and never gets the love I think it totally deserves. I’m so so so proud of that fic.
