MERLIN 2x13, ❝ The Last Dragonlord ❞
Merlin Parallel: 2x13/4x03
You know, I might write many fics in which Balinor is an absent father or not a totally good one - but in canon, nothing makes me weep so much for the fact that he couldn't raise Merlin as The Diamond of the Day part 1.
It took one conversation with his father for Merlin to realize that he's not a slave to destiny, or that he's not powerless. One conversation for him to see that he's pure magic, that he's tied to the elements, that he should connect to them to be able to use it. One conversation, and Merlin not only regains his magic, but is also for the first time in his life able to use his ability to see the future to his advantage (to see the hidden mountain pass, to help Arthur's troops win the battle), instead of his detriment. One moment, and his magic manifests in its purest, most beautiful form - creating a butterfly. This butterfly is Merlin's comeback to the times of his purity, when he used to makes dragons out of smoke, when everything was a bit simpler.
It makes me wonder: what would have happened if Balinor was there for Merlin, instead of Gaius and Kilgarrah? If he was there to carve wooden dragons for him, to tell him that he's not a monster, to teach him to love without denying himself?
If you think that I'm crying now, then yes, absolutely, I am crying

Ten of Pentacles - Dragonlord
I was about to get started on the next card when I realized I hadn’t posted this one 😂
For this card, I focused on the inheritance and legacy aspects of this card. Not usually how I read this card for myself, but this is what came to mind, and I loved the idea of it, especially the little carved dragon.
Also, I included a video on the Instagram post of this piece which shows it close up and shows the metallics more. Link is in my bio.
I will always be, as you will always be.
