I hope Yuri realize how shitty the organization he's working for. He always wanted to make a better and peaceful world for his sister to live in, but clearly the way SSS do things goes against what he's aiming for.
I feel really sad for the briar siblings, both of them are naive and doesn't really understand what's happening in the world bc no one was there to teach them but themselves, so they're easily manipulated and exploited, sure yuri is smart, but he's more of a book-smart.
Briar siblings are puppets :/ they’re powerful assets and I hope they will realized how the organisations are just exploiting them
The sad thing is that most of the adults in SxF are treated as a means to an end.
The key difference between WISE compared to The Garden and SSS is that WISE agents seem to be at least partially aware of that. Twilight and Nightfall and Sylvia are all pretty upfront with the fact that Westalis has more skeletons in its closet than it’s willing to admit, and the nature of their jobs as spies undertaking political subversion of a sovereign nation is ethically questionable on the best of days.
The Garden and the Secret Police, though, feed their personnel a lot more mythology than WISE does. It’s all done for “the good of our nation” and every act they ask their agents to commit that might be morally dubious is written off as being done to “the enemy.” Sometimes that means terrorists and crime lords and corrupt officials, but sometimes that just means anyone who threatens the status quo.
WISE is no moral bastion in the storyline, but most of its organization knows what they’re doing is reprehensible; they just think it has to be done. Whereas their Ostanian counterparts are fed a lot of dogma and propaganda to keep them obedient.
The discussions around this chapter have been wonderful and gut-wrenching and absolutely on point, but not enough people have talked about Yor’s part in this story:
Yes! I totally agree with this theory. Also, looking forward to the conversation Yor might have with Yuri about it, if at all. Maybe not soon but sometime in the future chapters this sets up for Yuri to really be at a crossroads between SSS/Forger-Briar, family/country etc.
Not to mention, the adult heroes of this episode, Henderson and Martha, who have both met and interacted with Yor, what would they say about it, if Yor really decides to pull out Anya from Eden. I'm anticipating an interaction between them and Yor because Yor is sure to show up at Eden for answers, and Martha is sure to bring Becky for a playdate with Anya at the Forgers' after this ordeal or something like that. They might end up convincing Yor not to transfer Anya because I would like to believe a) Becky won't lose her bestfriend (neither will Damian) and b) Anya will end up bawling because she doesn't want to start over again at a different school. (it was so difficult) (which btw isn't the real reason but she can't tell Mama about her superpowers so)
Ooooh, Yuri’s motivation to go AWOL in this arc is definitely the start of a storyline like this. I could definitely see the emotional toll it takes on Yor forcing him to rethink some of his plans for his life, and I think if push came to shove, he would choose his family (his whole family) over nationalism and a career with the SSS.
And Henderson and Martha would be really good people to talk to Yor about everything that happened. Both of them were willing to put their lives on the line to save Anya, so Yor might realize she’s in safe hands after all. Plus the toll it would take on Anya to lose all of her friends would be the last straw to convince Yor to let her stay.
I still think, though, that the time when she definitively chooses to let Anya stay has to be a scene with Anya and Loid in it, just because they’re the ones the most invested in Anya staying and they need to find some sort of middle ground with Yor for the Forgers to fully bounce back from this rough patch.
I was hoping that they would at least keep the "knowledge is a swole chihuahua" thing bc it's funnier, but i didn't expect the "no leash power" I was hoping for something close like "chihuahua power!?"
Yuri said 知は力(だ) "Chi wa chikara (da)" which is "knowledge is power"
Anya misheard it as ちわわじから "chiwawa jikara" (she mispronounced chikara as jikara btw), so she ended up saying "chihuahua power".
I couldn’t agree more!! The swole chihuahua joke was so amazing, Crunchyroll kinda dropped the ball on that bit.
For people who haven’t read the manga:
Anything you wanna tell the class, Yuri?
OP these tags are a treasure haha!
You: Awww, Yuri and Loid both see her this way because they love her
Me: Awww, Yor's finally learnt how to play Yuri and Loid, just like her daughter
These tags are killing me 🤣🤣🤣
Anya always has that same “blurp” reaction whenever Yuri visits.
I’m trying to understand how Yuri wanted to set up a meeting between Yor and a “good man” he knew. Like doesn’t it go against your siscon principles ??????
I have three different theories for this. Starting from least yikes and moving on to most yikes:
1) A case where Endo already had Yuri as an SSS agent planned from the start, but he didn’t know how he would characterize him until his main debut, so the phone call was a bit of early installment weirdness.
2) Probably (hopefully) the canon one, but Yuri would have been okay with Yor dating anyone… so long as he got to approve of it first. Even if Yuri isn’t a full-on Freudian nightmare in this scenario, he’s still possessive and codependent on Yor to a fault. So he might justify it as “you can date anyone, so long as I already know this person and I know they won’t overshadow me in your life.” Still pretty toxic at the end of the day, but less… y’know. Creepy.
3) Yuri didn’t actually have anyone in mind that he wanted to set Yor up with. He just wanted to string Yor along to some degree to just kinda keep her perpetually “waiting” so no one would take up her time except him. Or he actually did, but it was going to be someone so unlikeable that it might spook Yor from dating again. Either way, Yuri gets Yor all to himself.
Personally, I’m hoping it’s #2 just because I REALLY don’t like siscon characters. Yuri could 100% be read that way, but he could be read as a codependent man-child that acts like a kid who hates their new step-dad for taking up their mom’s time. The latter is still pretty 😬, but it’s less 😬😬😬😬😬 than Freud.
choose your fighter:
-fiona willing to change loid's diaper
or
-yuri wanting to become a vegetable so that yor could chop him
I’ll say this:
Yuri might give Oedipus a run for his money, but his weird comment is just Being A Bottom™ at the end of the day. Like people say weirder shit on this site alone about all of the scrimblo bimblos that they want to be stepped on by.
Nightfall’s comment is just… I don’t even know what it is, but it’s a “You Need Jesus” moment if I’ve ever seen one. And like. Why would you want to think of Twilight in a diaper? Why? What would be gained from that?
I’m judging both of them, but Yuri’s just being the sub in a BDSM fantasy. Nightfall is being WEIRD weird, and I just wanna tell her:
No one in-universe:
Absolutely no one in-universe:
Yuri: Loid and Yor do leewwwwd stuff together and it’s leeeeewd and it’s all I can think about
1. OP these tags are incredible I’m wheezing!
2. There will never be a better description for Yuri than “a weird little dude.”
3. I agree, Loid and Yor should be lewd! As a treat. They’re married, after all!
Just wanted to point that chapter 68 is the first time we see Yor giving a nickname to Anya
Also it's really funny and ironic to me that when Yor thinks about how Yuri's cooking tastes worse than she remembered she doesn't realize that her brother most likely learned from her cooking
I wonder if his food is as poisonous as hers but because the taster is Yor she doesn't get effects from it? Or it's just bad/average but not Yor's level. Does Yor has a immunity for her own cooking? I mean we have seen her serve others but I don't remember seeing her tasting her cooking before giving it.
She probably has, but I would like to imagine that because Yor is used to her cooking and because she's built different she can't tell what's wrong with it; Yuri's taste buds being burnt out and his endless praises to Yor for everything she does certainly didn't help to improve her skills 💦
Shout out to the time Yor drank a blowfish poison martini. For reference, one blowfish has enough poison in it to kill 30 grown adults. It’s considered more than a thousand times as poisonous as cyanide. The waiter (who was evil), squeezed the whole thing in Yor’s glass.
She wasn’t even phased.
Question is, can Yor survive that much poison from being trained by Garden, or from eating her own cooking for most of her life?
I understand Yuri uncondicional love for Yor,but please knock on the door before entering someone else's house.
One of these days he’s going to barge into the Forger house while Anya is away and he’s going to see things he shouldn’t have.
These three liars under the same roof are raising Anya.
I think its a pretty big deal that Yor was becoming embarrassed by Yuri. She kept apologizing for his behavior and while loid was always gracious its still wild that Yor would even do so.
We are beginning to see the cracks between yor and Yuri and I wonder if he will grow from it or try to ruin the family.
The best example is yor liking loids cooking more than yuri's. Like early in the story? Yor would be praising him, but she offered a opinion and expressed a preference for loids cooking. It's fun watching them grow as characters and loid and yor don't seem to be pretending as much as they once were.
