Last video dedicated to classic adventure movies is up! I was meaning to publish another one last week but life got in the way and I couldn’t. I always meant to end this April adventure month by talking about CAPTAIN BLOOD (1935) which was one of my grandmother’s favorite movies and she passed this love on to me. I am an absolute sucker for the movie pairings of Errol Flynn of Olivia de Havilland for I know of their real life affection for one another. They remain my favorite so it was a pleasure to put this video together.

Van Heflin and Alan Ladd in "Shane" (1953, George Stevens). They became such good friends that, as Heflin's wife said, the time he learned about Ladd's death was one of the few occasions she ever saw her husband cry.

To the greatest Errol Flynn. His talents went beyond the big screen, as I had the chance to confirm when I read his autobiography "My Wicked Wicked Ways". He wanted to be a writer and, at times, he considered his swashbuckler roles as minor ones. I couldn't disagree more. His portrayal of characters such as Captain Blood and Robin Hood have remained as icons of what adventure looks like.

This week I learnt, that the fantastic character actor Lionel Barrymore was also an accomplished graphic artist, amongst other things. Being a graphic designer myself and a classic cinema lover, I couldn’t be more thrilled of this discovery!
