In fond remembrance of William Bendix.
This is a pictorial celebration of the wonderful character actor William Bendix, born on January 14th in 1906. He made his film debut alongside Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy in Woman of the Year (1942) and what a way to start. He even caught the eye of Alfred Hitchcock who gave him a role in Lifeboat (1944) and from then on, he starred in film noirs mostly such as The Blue Dahlia (1946) or Macao (1952). He became known also for his portrayal of the famous baseball player Babe Ruth in The Babe Ruth Story (1948). He shared the screen with actors like Alan Ladd, Kirk Douglas, Robert Mitchum, Bing Crosby or William Holden.
