This is my contribution to the It’s a Wonderful Life Blogathon: A 75th Anniversary Celebration hosted by The Classic Movie Muse Blog. In this video I wanted to celebrate the 75th anniversary of this dear classic by taking a look at the noir aspects or the 'noir connection' that this film has. I will be giving you my take on some its elements, the people who made it possible while I pay a little special tribute to Gloria Grahame. As always, I hope that you enjoy!
Second video dedicated to the classic adventure series is up in my YouTube channel! This time we get to talk about the movie THE PRISONER OF ZENDA (1937) starring Ronald Colman, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., David Niven or Mary Astor. Based on Anthony Hope’s novel, it has been adapted for the big screen many times but, in my opinion, this is the definitive version. We get also to pay tribute to the fantastic work of cinematographer James Wong Howe. Will you miss it?
New video up in my YouTube channel dedicated to my top 7 classic romantic movies set in Paris 💖I know that now we can’t and it is not advisable to travel but we’ll always have Paris through movies, some of them truly beautiful ones. I also touch a bit upon the French capital’s importance in cinema which is a topic I will return to in future videos. I wish you all a happy Easter and a fantastic month of April 💐
What a day filled with classic stars birthdays but today we are here for Jean Arthur, remembering her birthday and favorite films in a new video! 💞✨🎬
I watched again yesterday DODGE CITY (1939). Blown away by the beauty of its outdoors scenes that almost look like paintings. I don't think this film and its cinematographer Sol Polito get enough credit. Sunrises and sunsets were seldom captured in such Technicolor glory 🌅
My hearties, new video in honor of Errol's and Olivia de Havilland's upcoming birthday. In this case, I took the opportunity to take a look at all their films together. This is my personal take of the good, the bad and the oddball (contains spoilers).
“The Fountainhead” (1949, King Vidor) cinemagraph from the “quarry sequence”.
What a lovely gesture from Olivia de Havilland to Errol Flynn 💖 I love these pictures! Quite frankly, this is my favorite movie couple of all time.
A new episode on my podcast channel discussing the 60th anniversary of the release of IMITATION OF LIFE (1959, Douglas Sirk). We discuss Douglas Sirk’s work, visual style and influence through the last film he made in Hollywood.
I hope you enjoy!
