Short clip of Dana Andrews epic scene in THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES (1946, William Wyler). Photography: Gregg Toland. Speechless.
In recognition of Gregg Toland (1904-1948) and his enormous contribution to cinematography. Highly influential and innovative, his deep-focused technique revolutionized his craft. He worked with talents such as John Ford in “The Grapes of Wrath” (1940), Orson Welles in “Citizen Kane” (1941), William Wyler in “The Best Years of Our Lives” (1946) or Alfred Hitchcock in “Notorious” (1946). Too bad, he was gone prematurely.
