The filming of one of cinema's most famous kisses.
Burt Lancaster was very good at film noir.
Titles featured:
“The Killers” (1946, Robert Siodmak) “Brute Force” (1947, Jules Dassin) “Sorry, Wrong Number” (1948, Anatole Litvak) “Criss Cross” (1949, Robert Siodmak) “Sweet Smell of Success” (1957, Alexander Mackendrick)
Just to name a few of my favorites!
To Lillian Gish and to two of my favorite movies in which she starred The Night of the Hunter and The Unforgiven, two masterpieces.
This October's recommendation is this psychological western called The Unforgiven and filmed by the great John Huston in 1960. Its magnificent cast is lead by Burt Lancaster and Audrey Hepburn, in tandem with Audie Murphy, Charles Bickford an Lillian Gish.
A fantastic film about the perils of intolerance and fanaticism, with exceptional performances for deep and intense portrayals. An excellent western, almost completely forgotten but worth watching and discussing. Don't miss the opportunity and this fall, try to see The Unforgiven. It's a must.
