christian missionary work is a millennias-long social experiment to find out what the dumbest thing someone could possibly do is
reading about foreigners detained in North Korea, and a solid 40% of them were just missionaries
"it's my god-given right and duty to force my religion into these people, whether they want it or not" is an attitude which has led to many millions of atrocities over the millennia, but it's also led people to do things like travel to They Kill You Here Island (you'll never guess what happened)
Ah yes because the only thing they do is force Christianity onto people.
They never feed anyone, they never bring medicine, they never bring trained doctors to help treat epidemic diseases or to administer aid, they never bring aid supplies like clothing and sundries, they never help build anything like shelters or water pumps and purifiers or anything else like that.
It's all just about forcing people to convert, never helping your fellow man.

hmmmmmmmmm thinkin about that one high school teacher I had that messaged me on Facebook a while back just to tell me I must’ve wanted it (he downgraded it to ‘must’ve just done some things in college I regretted’ after I ripped into him) after it came out that I’d been sex trafficked for almost 4 years :)
yeah I’m still fuckin mad
this is still the RAWEST line
I found her complete anecdote and it’s even better
reading back through my own writing like wow do I wish I could resurrect that bitch or do I wish she was longer dead?
Imagine being this mad at a teenager for being excited about a dumb hobby.
I’m scared for her. I’m scared that she’s jumping into something she knows nothing about, I’m scared that she’s gleefully getting involved in this big dark world SPECIFICALLY because it makes her parents uneasy and because she thinks it makes her cool. That makes it very difficult for me to speak calmly about it, because I’ve been there! I’ve watched it happen over and over! I know what happens, and I get dismissed for vocalizing ANYTHING less than open positivity and acceptance for it! Witchcraft has been normalized exactly because of an attitude like yours - that it’s a ‘dumb hobby’ and nothing more. The only parts of it that could be considered innocent are medicinal herbology and the study of Latin/Greek. Studying and getting involved in the occult with this mindset leaves you vulnerable - and let’s pretend, for just a second, that the spirits traditional witchcraft serve don’t actually exist. Practice like this STILL leaves you vulnerable to very physically present, dangerous people. When I got involved in this shit, the majority of the people I met were predators in some form. And you can say “well it’s not fair to judge based on JUST the people that you met” except that it’s everywhere. In EVERY circle I brushed shoulders with. The practice attracts it, and again, ignoring any supernatural belief, it attracts predators because it also attracts a population (mostly young girls) that is vulnerable and simultaneously rebellious by nature. That’s a bad combination, without a stable source of guidance. It’s a facade of “empowerment” that hides a seedy, predatory underbelly and I am SICK TO DEATH of young girls being taken advantage of by adults (men AND women) who should damn well know better. Fuck the entire practice and origin of traditional witchcraft and I will NOT apologize for saying so.
First and foremost I fully agree that witchcraft is evil and demonic and not just some “hobby.” But HOW is natural/herbal medicine demonic?? PLEASE be fr 😭😭 Explain how. I genuinely want to know.
it’s not???? bro that was literally one of the only components of the practice that I’m condoning, herbal medicine can be held completely separate from the occult
If you think you have a cool new question for Christianity which is going to tear this shit wide open and prove it's false I promise you some random person already fully addressed the issue six hundred years ago and came up with four arguments for your point and proceeded to debunk them.
>Pull out guitar for the first time in years >Maybe an hour played since I graduated high school >Play what songs I can remember >Decide to look up something new >Open google >Type "Ultimate" >First suggestion is Ultimate Guitar I don't even have a microphone hooked up to my computer for it to pick up on the fact I was playing. Nearest I can guess is that my phone picked it up and my PC and phone are somehow connected in this massive spy network bullshit. It sounds like schizoposting but I don't think I've even looked up ANYTHING guitar related since I built this PC in 2019 but I've easily looked up The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny at least a dozen times in that span and that wasn't even a search suggestion.
Are you signed in on yt? On your phone and your computer? Yt is owned by google, no wonder that popped up first.
Funny thing about that. I'm signed in on my phone but not on my PC. I made a youtube account a few years before Google bought them out. After the buyout Google tried to do some kind of weird merge thing and I ended up with two channels.
The new channel was just dead space that I never touched. As youtube guidelines changed some of my older videos got deleted for violating TOS. I wasn't really bothered by that since I don't use YT much anyway, but I was getting channel strikes for stuff that was allowed when I posted it and retroactive punishment seemed unfair.
Anyway a few weeks ago I got a notice from Youtube saying my account had been deleted for repeated violations. The funny thing is that they deleted the second channel that I wasn't even using. My actual channel remains up. I have full access to it on the youtube app on my phone, but when I try to sign in on PC it says my account has been deleted. I tried appealing my ban because I felt like arguing against retroactive punishment was a chance of getting it back, but they said my channel isn't associated with an email address at all so there's nothing they can do about it. So my PC isn't signed into ANY google account at the moment.
you’re not schizoposting, but you’re also not quite on the nail.
phones ping off of cell towers periodically, which gives a pretty accurate geographical location. IP addresses give the same or similar geographical location. so it’s not so much that your pc is listening to you as it is like this: google recognizes that your 2 devices are in a very similar geographical area & associated with the same user. (you may not be signed in to YouTube on your pc but if you’ve ever even attempted to log in with the email associated with your YouTube app on your phone, there’s a record of that). trends from both devices are also visible over WiFi & cell traffic. so when your pc suggests these things to you, sure your phone might be recording at all times especially if you have the default settings still active, but it’s crossing over to your computer via geographical association & google’s extrapolation.
