Awhile back I found this little dude outside. At first glance I thought it was a bumblebee, but up close I realized it was a botfly! As horrific as their lifecycle is, I think they’re pretty stupid cute. Just look at that face 🥺

It’s a greenbottle fly…the greenest, most metallic butt in the animal kingdom! 10/10.
Fun fact about flies!
In pretty much any common species the males will have larger eyes that have less of a gap between them compared to females!
I tend to remember this because it's like they're in a cartoon and going AWOOGA when they see a female.
