Christopher Jones' Web Minion

@christopherjoneswebminion / christopherjoneswebminion.tumblr.com

This is the tumblelog for Christopher Jones' Web Minion, i.e. the person who helps comic book artist Christopher Jones maintain his web presence. I also help with promotions and conventions. The posts on this tumblelog do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Christopher Jones. (My opinions are my own!) If you are looking for Christopher Jones' tumblelog, click here.

...He is also really paranoid now that he’s not going to be able to get work for speaking out about the Batgirl cover (even though I thought it was pretty clear he was coming out pro-DC and just anti-sexism but whatever) I don’t know what to do about that one. Besides encourage folks - if you want to see him work on a book - to tell the publishers/editors/writers it’s something you want. (And ask your friends to do the same...)

And then both Young Justice and Green Lantern were cancelled because Cartoon Network didn’t advertise/market them well nor did they adapt the shows merchandise/marketing to the demographic that was actually watching the show rather than the demographic they wanted to watch it

THIS. This is what happened. Cut and dry. This.

Yes, hello, this is Gatewayarcher-mun speaking. AKA Cissie/Arrowette mun. Can I call bullshit on this? Not only do they use Cissie King Jone’s original costume and call it Artemis’ but they also use Arrowette’s “evil” costume to pass off as Artemis’ covert outfit?

THIS. IS. BULLSHIT.

I will not stand for this. I used to love Young Justice but this just completely turned me away. Arrowette does not deserve to be left behind in the dust and forgotten. Taking her outfits and claiming them as Artemis’ “classic” and “covert” is going to piss me off to no end. I won’t stand for this bullshit.

I was a great fan, buying merchandise whenever I could, always waiting and hoping to see my baby show back up, always sending DC and Warner Bros emails and asking if Cissie could ever come back, always the same response. Thank you for your question, we will respond as soon as we have an answer. The response would never come. But this? This. This right here. They took a character that meant the world to me and completely ripped her apart and picked out the bits and pieces that they liked, her looks, her history, her skills, her outfits, everything EXCEPT for her and gave it all to a different character. Tigress—sorry, I mean Artemis is not meant to be like this. She was known as Tigress in her classic and glory days, so why change her completely? She was a wonderful character…why try to turn her into somebody she completely and utterly hated? That’s right, Tigress hated Arrowette, maybe not Arrowette directly but she hated Cissie for winning the Summer Games, so why turn Artemis into somebody she hated? It leaves me speechless and disgusted. Way to go DC Comics, you’ve gone and ruined two more characters.

RIP Cissie king Jones (Arrowette)

RIP Artemis Crock Mahkent (giggling because OTP) (Tigress)

Woah. Holy overreaction, Batman.

I thought it was a cute nod to the classic YJ comics, in a totally optional, "just for fun" context. Same for putting Wally in Impulse's classic YJ duds.

Also, this was not done by DC. This is the 3rd party game dev, Little Orbit. If you're THIS upset over an optional, just for fun costume addition, I guess write your complaints to them.

But, really, it's just a DLC/optional thing. Chill out...

P.S. I think I recall Greg having said at Denver Comic Con that S3 would have had Cissie. And Troia. And lots of other awesome things. But that's not happening. So, getting this as a TOTALLY OPTIONAL, JUST FOR FUN easter egg is kind of a cool thing.

seriously who do we cyberbully until young justice gets renewed?

Please don't even joke about cyber bullying. If you're tweeting hate at a company, there's still an actual person that has to read that stuff.

And for that matter, Young Justice's creators get hate flung at them from time to time about it being cancelled, which really isn't cool and they shouldn't have to deal with it. I witnessed one such incident in person at New York Comic Con.

Ways to actually make a difference:

  • WRITE ACTUAL PAPER LETTERS to Warner Brothers, Cartoon Network and DC Comics. Frequently. Get your friends to do it, too. And please be polite. Paper letters make a statement and are harder to ignore, especially well-reasoned and positive ones.
  • BUY OFFICIAL YJ STUFF. Such as the video game that's about to come out. Actually Greg Weisman himself has said that video games are our best bet at getting more stories in the immediate future, due to licensing agreements. So buy the video game!
  • BE VOCAL ABOUT YOUR LOVE FOR YOUNG JUSTICE. Try to stay positive. Focus on what you like about it. Talk it up to your friends. Compliment it publicly on the internet. Sing its praises for having a compelling story, great action, excellent character development, more diversity than any other DC superhero show, being accessible for all ages, and being a fantastic introduction to the DC universe for both boys and girls. Don't let the positive buzz for the show taper off. Make sure it's present, relevant, and still bringing in new fans. Which is a nice segway into...
  • DO NOT LET THE FANDOM DIE. If in a few years, the Young Justice fandom is still strong and vocal, the powers that be may recognize that there is still profit to be made from the property and relaunch or continue it in some way, be it comic book, direct to DVD movies or even more TV shows.

I can't ask him questions right now :( I don't have anything against the idea of Kaldur being gay, obviously I need answers because I frankly didn't exactly expected that.. yeah, Kaldur was very vague when he mentions that "someone special" and we all followed what the show showed us.. it's not even actually something that would alter how many fans see him, but well.. I can't help it if I'm curious about this, Kaldur is my second favorite character in the show after all XD

Kaldur may be gay, but does not mean that Kaldur knows he’s gay yet, or has accepted it. Think about it in the context of Kaldur trying to live up to what he believes is expected of him, even if he has to sacrifice or ignore part of himself to do so -- which is a very Kaldur thing to do, after all.

Greg Weisman, writer of Young Justice: Invasion #25, created Disney's Gargoyles.

Kissing is a human custom. The gargoyle equivalent is the stroking of hair and/or brow ridges.”

WHAT IS IT WITH THIS GUY AND HIS TRYING TO REPRESENT GAY CHARACTERS EVEN THOUGH HE'S NOT SUPPOSED TO I can see why you're all so outraged

Wait, no, that was a lie.
