if I had a nickel for every time my new favorite character was someone who left their respectable, well-paying job to move to a small town to investigate its paranormal happenings and discovered their found family along the way I’d have three nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened three times, right
missing king falls am today -_- unfortunately -_-
i think we all have that one piece of media we like that’s basically “i love this thing, but i dont think everyone should watch this thing and would not categorically recommend it to other people i know, this thing has a lot of problems and i am the first person you should ask if you want to know a long list of criticisms, but i REALLY ENJOY THIS THING” its like holding up a can of trash to everyone else and saying “you are a reasonable person and you would not enjoy touching this garbage and i value that about you” and then pouring it out on the ground and rolling around in it yourself
can y’all drop your favorite non-narrative podcasts in the replies/reblogs? I’m almost out of mbmbam episodes to listen to and I could use something funny that makes you feel like you’re among friends if y’all know the vibe I mean
Tim Stoker, Sammy Stevens, Mark Bryant, and Daniel Jacobi all belong to the group of varying but oddly similar podcast characters that I like to affectionately refer to as “queer men with big brother energy but also serious mental health issues that often lead to self-destructive behavior”
everyone please excuse me as I project my desire for a happy healthy committed queerplatonic relationship onto sammy and ben
Hello everyone I know I have done this before but I’m in a podcast slump and I could use some serotonin
Some of my absolute favorites are:
1. The Magnus Archives (shocker, I know)
2. The Bright Sessions
3. King Falls AM
4. The Adventure Zone
5. Welcome to Night Vale
I also really enjoyed:
1. Wolf 359
2. The Strange Case of Starship Iris
I’ve been checking out a lot of things like Mabel, I Am in Eskew, Within the Wires, and The Black Tapes, and while they’re all really interesting and I’m excited to listen more at some point, I need something where I can get really invested in the characters. (If you’ve listened to one of those and it gets more character-driven in later episodes, please let me know! I’ll keep listening and see if I get hooked.) But yeah, if you know of any really great character-driven audio dramas, please let me know! I would love to hear your thoughts.
some of you magnus archives fans have never had to listen to sammy stevens deny the existence of the supernatural when demons and aliens fuck with his radio show every month and it shows
okay so like. king falls am can get dark but having just finished the whole thing all I can say is that it is honestly just pure wish fulfillment for me babey
moving to a mysterious small town and living my creative passion while finding my family and coming to think of this place as home all the while searching for my long lost gay lover? just kind of my ideal life.
y’all ever just go BATSHIT over the fact that King Falls “found family” AM is fundamentally, on every level, a beautiful fucking love story because I’m going fucking crazy here
god EVERY TIME sammy stevens is about to open up SOMEONE’s gotta just UP AND RUIN IT
“just answer it, duty calls. we can talk later.” bitch NO you are gonna SIT your ASS down in that chair and be EMOTIONALLY VULNERABLE

KFAM Question
if I’m catching up to this show in order, are the King Falls Chronicles episodes necessary listening or can I go back and listen once I finish the main story?
god agent spears is such a funky lesbian I love her
I’ve started listening to king falls am (only @ ep28 so no spoilers) and can I just say it’s so nice to listen to a podcast where sometimes the characters actually get nice things
like every other podcast I’ve listened to it’s like “god can SOMEONE just get these characters a damn hug” and on this one it’s like hey these boys have a loving group of friends who invite them to homemade breakfasts and this one has a girlfriend and they really care about each other, how nice is that!!! and sure, the girlfriend’s been abducted by aliens, but still! you know that when she comes home there’ll be a bunch of people who care very much that she is safe and sound, and that’s just a very nice thought
