Today in ‘guess we didn’t learn anything as a species’, someone’s 3D-printed the throat of an Egyptian priest to see what his voice sounded like. The cute thing is that in doing so, they actually fulfilled his wish - as indicated on his sarcophagus. The less cute thing is do we want to accidentally raise a 5000-yo demon? Because that’s how you raise a 5000-yo demon.

Putting aside the joke that “it’s old and Egyptian therefore it must be evil”, this is amazing:

I’m a bit conflicted about this because on the one hand THAT SHIT CREEPY. On the other hand, I feel like I’m observing legit funery rites: alien ones, but full of the same love and solemnity. Like when certain tribes eat the flesh of their departed relative so they don’t decay, but return to give strength to the community; or how others expose their dead so they go back into nature and be free. From the outside it seems barbaric, but it’s done with the utmost honor and care.

I’m still weirded out, but I understand what you meant in doing this. Thank you for allowing us to be observers to your rites.

Thank you for your honest words, I’m grateful that you want to understand. There are so many different cultures that treat deadlth in a different way from the western world. To me there is no right or wrong.

My only hope with sharing these images is that people are respectful in their use of words. I feel extremely vulnerable sharing these things, but I really want to. As with all images on the internet, there is a person behind them with feelings and people forget that.

I have a longing for people to understand me, but words fail me so things get lost in translation or simply misunderstanding…
