Thank you! About sharing references... in all honesty i can't be bothered to organize the mess i have in my folders, and I feel too embarrassed to share. And also i don't want to be responsible for having misplaced something. References are real cultures with rich histories and conflicts that last until today and should not be taken lightly or just for aesthetics.
If you are unsure where to start i really can't recommend the @atlaculture blog enough. They share vary informative posts about the cultures that were a huge inspiration and influence on atla comes from. As well, they analyze objects and create great theories based on them, plus i really appreciate all the work they do to expand this fictional world in a way the creators didn't.

hello there! can i ask you what app do you use to draw and what are your favorite brushes if it’s not too much trouble? :D
i used photoshop for a long time. official CC and cracked versions but things got to pricy or kept braking so i switched to Clip Studio Paint. Its a good program all in all i like it but it takes some time getting used to everything. i have this post about what brush i like to use and how LINK but so far i couldn't manage to recreate it in CSP yet and the settings are still a bit to new to me. but i like the SOL brush so far the most. probably uhm... idk just for understanding. i use an intuous 4 tablet. its like... old but works like one the first day. so nothing fancy with a screen in it or something.

i think its like drawing anything else, just with a different theme/topic. and the characters are definitely less, too barely or in their birth suit dressed.
being suggestive has a better effect then showing things plainly
just have fun with it. like with everything when it comes to art!

i know that like the only similarities are like the thicker eyebrows, tusk (although upside down) and a stronger nose and well.. that they are BLUE.

how do you even get ideas.... im stuck in art block so bad
art block is not always connected to lack of ideas. There are different kinds, and its up to the artist to diffirenciate between the different types. you can have not idea, all the ideas or no motivation, having this lingering fear that whatever you draw won't turn out as good as you see it with your inner eye or just simply put you are burned out. each require a different approach to get out of it.
but if lack of ideas is indeed you trouble. idk i think just doodeling helps me. like mindless doodle! scribble a page page full of circle and stars, draw flowers, make cute things that are easy and a bit mindless. at some point i start drawing a face and i keep adding to it, and adding to it. and then i am back into drawing.
if you want to be more productive though, i also like to open up line of action and do some gesture drawings. you get in some practice learn some anatomy, expression or gestures. or you do some fotostudies.
in general... i manage to avoid art block by working on different project or sketches contemporary. if i don't feel like lining one i just color the other. or begin to sketch a new one. like this i avoid this drop after finishing one project and having a hard time starting a new one. on the other hand this back fires on me because it becomes a never ending story

hello anon! sorry to disappoint but the last time i sat down and did a proper traditional art peace was like 2 years ago and now i just don't have the patience to do so and go like... straight to digital. all i can offer are my cashbook doodles LINK

i do not carry a proper sketchbook with because... when i am outside, i don't often find the time to sit down to draw. Also i feel really anxious so most drawings i will show here did max take 30 sec to 1 min. because i basically scribble down the idea on the nearest piece of paper in the most recognizable way and then move on. at a later moment when i have time and peace, i cut them out and glue them in a very old notebook with cheep bleeding paper or a repurposed exhibition and theater program booklet. you know recycling? sort of, i think.
so here we go! (i try to include ID in ALT text but its scrapbook pages with many small drawing)
if some images look familiar. its because the first scrap page contains the original sketches for these drawings of the fire hazard siblings and LINK, LINK, LINK, some of the OC drawings were also created and posted here LINK
second image contains on one page the first draft for the teeth tutorial LINK, the third has the sketch for the jee and hawky sketch as well the idea for the kataang drawing LINK, LINK, LINK
sometimes pages are minimalist and boring looking though
My biggest issue with young!Jee is that he isn't anywhere near as smart as OG old!Jee, and that just doesn't feel right for the character. OG Jee would have known Zhao was manipulating him against Zuko's best interests the second Zhao opened his mouth.
i disagree. canon jee doesn't tell us much. and honestly jee hated zukos guts. i wouldn't be surprised if jee for some cheep booze told zhaos crew that zuko found the avatar in the south pole. he left, like the entire crew did as well, zukos ship on zhaos order. leaving zuko and iroh behind.
if your interpretation of original jee is that he is smart and a devoted lieutenant, that is fine by me. but it reads vary fanon to me.
What's your opinion on jee in the live action avatar? (And the whole 41st Division change)
anon... not like natla is the worst that could have happened to this franchise. but i really couldn't vibe with the natla...
jee is just... younger jee i guess. and the 41st surviving was like... cheep writing vise? Something to force us getting emotional, which to me personally didn't work? so.. uh... -srugs- Ehhh
